Shades of The Good Life Wendy.....
Making sure I am presentable for my excursion to the hospital today. Have decided on the B17 bomber pilot look, I shall wear my silk-lined, leather B3 jacket and a baseball cap.

I had a look too....couldn't resist it! There is a family tree which includes Quick on the Briercliffe History Society website.

Sue & Wendyf. I'm not sure what your interest is in "Quick Nutter" but he is part of my extended tree. I don't know why he was called Quick other than he was part of a large family. Any thoughts on the subject?

If there was a Quick Nutter, could there have been a Dead Nutter as well?

We just found his grave and headstone and commented on his name. We wondered if it was a family surname of his mother for example, or wether he was born quickly!

My childhood paperback Hornblowers are falling to bits with re-reading. I think I have a full set, but some of the US titles were different, and short stories published in different volumes, so I may have missed something.

I'll not have time for much reading today - hoping to finalise logistics of swapping hanging baskets for Christmas trees, changing from summer to winter/spring planting and holding our Switch On event in conjunction with Barlick's ever expanding Saturday market on 9th November.

Watching my daughter compete in a dressage competition. It's not very often that they are close enough for us to attend without allocating the whole day. Boy she's come a long way since Pony Club!

They do Liz! They do! Until it is experienced it is very difficult for young parents to visualise how soon they will lose the child and gain the adult.
David, I am being very good and refraining from diving into Hornblower until I get the early ones, I want to re-read them in chronological order.
Today I shall do the shopping, post this week's article and then read and take care of Jack and myself.

That's what I do every few years.

I'm mainly doing the stuff I didn't manage yesterday and getting the ingredients together for our Barnoldswick in Bloom 'Blooming Healthy Cafe' which I'm cheffing for on Saturday. Ingredients will include some of the herbs clipped from the new herb beds on the Town Square.

She's just moved into Advanced Wendy. She finally has the horse(s), the ability and the money (her own this time!) to compete at the higher levels. The horse she currently competes on probably won't go much further but she has another just about ready to go out. He was a bit of a nutter and she's spent a lot of time getting his head in the right space.

You must be very relieved that she can pay for it herself and that she chose to do dressage rather than eventing! I never got further than Novice tests, but what a pleasure it was when things went well!
Doing a fund raising stall for HAPPA this morning down in Earby.

Went to Manchester on the train this morning to see where I have to report for jury duty on Monday. Came back on the new Metro tram. Nice and smooth. Although much longer than the train it was a pleasant comfortable ride. Cooking this afternoon for guests this evening. One has called off as he has the seasons dreadful cold.

Going to my Granddaughter Isla's 4th birthday party. I have made fruit scones for the party and Sally is taking her jam and jelly conserves.

Just got back from a trip to Ilkley where Graham Nash was doing a bit of book promotion at the Literature Festival. It's 50 years since the Hollies had their first hit single, and nearly 40 years since Col first saw Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young at Wembley....who would have thought then that years in the future we would be sitting in a hall (in Ilkley of all places) packed with pensioners still listening avidly to the words of a 72 year old kid from Salford.
