I agree Sue but David makes good points.
Main job today is seeing the Doc at 9am for my annual diabetes assessment after my tests. I shall calibrate my BP machine against his as well and I have a copy of 'Know What to Eat' for him, must keep him up to date with the latest research into nutrition! Not anticipating any problems....

Weeded, trimmed plants, dead-headed the Roses, scattered some plant food, watered and brought the bins in.
Then I chased dog hair round the furniture with the electric broom ( a handy gadget).
Actually, the dog is not herself today. I noticed she had been sick on the back lawn earlier and she seems a bit lethargic this afternoon...and keeps whimpering in her sleep. She has also consumed more water than normal today. Guess she will sort out whatever is bothering her...
( and - before you ask - she could not have consumed plant food, because I only used that in the front yard and she can't get to the front yard.)

Is it a Labrador? They are well known for eating things they shouldn't touch with a barge pole! Did you know that one of the reasons why rats are so easy to poison is because they can't vomit to get rid of it.

Yes a Labrador...
Son ate Spicy Potato Wedges yesterday ( revolting things) and I have no doubt he would have shared them with her. I keep telling him not to feed her beyond what she gets in her dish morning and night. Hubby is a sucker for the sad eyes too...but she gets nothing from me.
Very easy to over feed a Labrador.
Her last vet check noted she was in the healthy weight range for the first time in her life! That has only happened since she has been living here.
Having had one diabetic dog, I do not wish it on anyone. If I catch him feeding her greasy wedges again, grrrrrrrr..

Well, think of it as brightening up murky November days?Sue wrote:Sorry, but early lights put me off shopping for Christmas, I hate the way commercialism takes over at this time of year, December 1st is the date I work from.

True, that is needed. Lights with no trees perhaps

Spring cleaning. Nothing like a visit from the Mother-in-law for motivation!

(Aye...sympathies). Good luck with the M.I.L
Too hot for much activity here. Watered the garden early, a load of washing, a load of ironing...all before the heat took hold.
Since then have been doing computer work with the blinds drawn and keeping cool.
Dog still crook. She has spent most of the day sleeping ( on the couch!). If no better tomorrow she is going to the vet, but I think it is just the heat knocking her about after being a bit flat yesterday. The tail still wags when we talk to her though she can't be bothered moving.

I see the conical emitters were erected in the square yesterday..... When you put the marquee up remember that you deprive Jack of his hitching post.
I shall be doing very little except read and watch the letter box for the letter informing me when the next op is. Roll on the day! My social calendar is empty now.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
..............packing my bags.
We are off to Bologna tomorrow for a long weekend - flying out of Manchester early doors via Munich.
This is to mark my significant birthday this Friday....
I shall look, eat, drink and buy pasta and a jumper and some trousers to bring back (I've promised my mother I'd get these latter things as she'll likely give me some money). We're going to get the train to Modena too on Saturday, which is meant to be nice to and is only 30mins away.
As Bologna is known as La Grassa ('the fat'), I shall perhaps report back next week on the 'What did we all have for tea' thread.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Bologna...that reminds me of listening to an astronomer on the radio the other day talking about how they've all been peering through their telescopes this summer at a gas cloud approaching a black hole. The cloud has been drawn towards the hole and around it and the front is now moving faster than the back end. She said it's now being stretched out into a thin strand and that astronomers have a technical term for this: spaghetticised.

It's supposed to be dry today so we are off to Burnley cemetery to plant bulbs at Mums and Dads grave, then home to start the baby quilt.

Going for a walk then moving the ponies' electric fencing down to better drained winter quarters in the bottom part of the field.

My hair is always scary! If I'm having a good day I sometimes remember to switch the fence off before I start moving it.
Back from a lovely walk. Quick bite of lunch then out to move fences.....

Durham, the land of the Prince Bishops. Lovely area. Which brings me nicely to the second game of the world chess championships. Another draw. Not too surprising. Carlsen is a very steady player.
Deep Blue. I've fond memories of this time but a bit cramped inside that IBM box.

De-stressing. We took my Mother-in-law home yesterday. It's a 5 hour round trip in the car so a long day.

Comrade Nolic will have a wild wet trip this morning.... Not sure what I'll be doing but it won't involve being out in November weather!

Homeland for me. I met Bob when he was at Durham university. I was a local girl from Chester Le Street and still at school.

Ahhhh....ain't memories sweet?
I met my present hubby when he knocked on my front door...he was my neighbour!
Everyone kept telling me to get back into the swing of meeting people after my first marriage ended, but I couldn't be bothered. I told them that if I was going to meet Mr Right, he had to knock on my front door.
Be careful what you wish for. I can't promise you will all be as happy as we are.
