WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?

No I won't be finding dog hair for twelve months.
Give me a week of thorough daily blitzing...will start at the top of the curtain pelmets and work downward. Every bit of furniture gets turned over, every drawer pulled out. I noticed dog hairs have even invaded pantry and kitchen cupboards, so everything comes out for a wipe. My OCD tendencies are winding up like a spring....
Praying for cool weather of course. Won't be knocking myself out in the heat.

Chevapchiccis ( spicy skinless sausages) and salad tonight.
I was going to do a little mashed potato with it, but son begged for chips done in the air-fryer, so I gave in. He is only with us for four more nights, so may as well indulge him.
Just as well about the four nights - his dog has chronic wind at present and can clear a room pretty quickly. Absolutely acrid! It is just the icing on the cake...Febby filled the Hoover with dog hair this morning and we both agreed it will be good to cut down all this daily work. Roll on Saturday!

Well of course I had to look that one up. I was a bit worried at first since cheval is french for horse, but all is well.

I had porridge for dinner while my economy veggie stew was maturing. Wonderful bit of chemistry when you put a tablespoon of molasses sugar and a glug of cider vinegar in a stew. Don't know why but it thickens up beautifully. Had stew for tea, it was good and will be better today!

Pilchard butty for dinner and two poached eggs on toast for tea. Emptied deep fat fryer and cleaned it out ready for new dripping on Friday....

Two of Kathleen's pork pies for dinner and a fish finger butty for tea. Butcher's day today and apart from the usual treats I need some dripping to reload the deep fat fryer! (It's the chips Maz, I can't live without them...)

( it is the chips...the chips...she repeats, shaking her head. Don't feel guilty, Stanley. I had " one too many" Roast Potatoes tonight and it would be a case of " pot calling the kettle black" to chide you)

So yes...Roast Spuds, Crumbed Chicken Breast, Green Beans, Broccoli, Baby Peas, Carrots, and Gravy....

Beef stew & dumplings with mash tonight - good winter warmer!!.

Am going to try a recipe from January's Asda magazine, which I downloaded.
Can't recall the name of it just now, but have bought the Leek, Spinach, eggs, Cheese, Mustard etc for the making.

Mind you, it is terribly warm here today so I can't imagine us being over enthusiastic about eating much...but a small portion with Salad may be ok.

Trust you Moh! You have reminded me that my next stew must have little lads in....
Butcher's day yesterday, we are back to normal. So a haslet butty for dinner and during the day I marinaded a big piece of rump steak. Grilled half of it for a steak butty at teatime and half left maturing in the fridge.
Forget the six-pack Maz, all that matters is how well you are! That reminds me. How are you getting on Moh? Still slow improvement? Taking long strides?

Second half of the rump steak on a butty for dinner and two haslet butties on bought tea cakes for tea. Should have put a new loaf in yesterday morning but forgot, it's in there now and will be out at 09:00. Fancy chips today fried in the new dripping.....

Things are not looking good for an evening meal of any sort. I've been through the freezer and turned my nose up at the thought of cooking, due to the heat. Same with the pantry. Plenty of food choices but nothing seems to interest me.
Perhaps I can talk the boss into a Salad Sandwich and a glass of cold water?
( even that seems like too much effort)

Made a lovely chicken & tomato Balti curry on Saturday served with yogurt potatoes. Last night was roast pork with all the trimmings, plus roast & new potatoes, roast parsnips & brussels. Cold pork tonight.

I can never get my head around the reason behind having two types of potato in the one meal. If we have Roast, we just have roast...if we have mashed, we just have mashed. What a lot of extra work you create for yourselves.
I've never been able to comprehend doing the washing up in a plastic tub in the sink either...we just use the sink. That is what it is designed for!
( I am not knocking the way you do things, just mentioning my bafflement. First thing I do in any rental cottage we have stayed in is put that plastic tub in a cupboard. I won't get on to the subject of your washing machines...odd devices that they are. I wash in cold water here and my machine does not thrash the living day lights out of my garments...and it is all done and dusted in 20 mins).

Anyway...on to Dinner.
Too hot to be bothered eating once again. Think it will be Chicken Salad Sandwiches tonight.
Last night we sank to the depths of bad habits and ate ice cream, whilst watching an old Agatha Christie movie. Couldn't be bothered with anything else.
It was a delightfully wicked thing to have though.

Chip butty for dinner. Started a new Irish Stew with the gravy from the ribs. By teatime it was ready for action. No cooking for two days! (Garlic in this one Maz but plenty of veggies!)

Irish stew X 2 yesterday with cheese on toast for a nibble after tea. Four small apples for pudding.....

HOME COOKED HADDOCK, CHIPS & MUSHY PEAS LAST NIGHT - TONIGHT IS BACK TO WINTER WARMERS - MEAT & POTATO PIE.(Hit the capital button and did not notice - too idle to type again!!)

Annoying isn't it Moh.... Irish stew X 2 yesterday. It's finished now and I'll take a view on today's menu later.....

Another chicken & tomato balti curry tonight with spicy cauliflower & potato as a side dish.

Cheese and poached egg butty for dinner. Put some two shear mince and onions on stove to cook slowly all day, turned out lovely! Had some spuds left over so I boiled them but slipped up, overcooked them, put too much milk in and finished up with thick potato soup! Added some peas and cooked them again till they thickened a bit and had a small bowl of that plus the stewed wether for tea. Surprisingly good!
Butcher's day today so a treat or two.
