Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
Not one of mine, (though it looks in better nick than at least one in me dad's garage- we get started on that once the boat bits go).
I could probably get the pictured one up and running for under grand with all the spare bits I have knocking about - though not lights they seem to have become rare for originals). (big assumption on condition of floorpan areas)

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
See THIS for the Guardian report of Rosberg taking Hamilton out at the beginning of the Spa Grand Prix after Lewis had overtaken him at the beginning of the race. Hamilton had the racing line and in my view Rosberg was in the wrong. Hamilton says Rosberg admitted he did it deliberately but the team boss denies this as of course he has to. I never liked Rosberg and this convinces me that he is not only an arrogant self centred man but a bad team member and a disgrace to sport. Spoilt the day for me..... and many others as well I suspect. Rosberg was booed on the podium, something I have never heard before. Good to tell what many of the fans felt....

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
Indeed, he's a future world champion. Can you imagine him doing a Rosberg? Of course not, he always drives fairly and with respect for the other drivers. This is something Rosberg has never learned, he's not even bothered about the team, selfish and immature.

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
I was putting the bin out on the kerb for collection this morning and hadn't heard the gent on a bicycle, who pulled up along side of me and said "Any chance of a cup of tea?"
I nearly jumped through my skin...especially when I turned to view him...middle aged, overweight, wearing a bicycle helmet that had three antennae sprouting from the top!
(what the????!)
Obviously not the full quid, so I said Hello and turned to go back into the house.
Then he said "It's like this...can I have some sugar,Sugar?...can I have some honey, Honey?..or can I have some tea, Bag?"
(with emphasis on "BAG")
I just laughed and started back to the house, trying to look as if I wasn't actually scurrying or in a panic, when he called after me "Yeah...well at least you can laugh about it."
I think he just called me a BAG! (and here was I fresh from the bathroom, hair done, and not looking too bad)
Obviously one of these half wits who gets off on being rude to folk.
maybe he is friends with the young man down the street (also a half wit) who thinks he is a town crier...walks the street yelling at the top of his voice...or..maybe...he was TOLD to say rude things by whoever is instructing him via the antennae on his helmet?

You don't suppose he was propositioning me in his own queer way do you? (
Nah...)
Will send Febby out with the bin in future...

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
Next time, hit him with your BAG, Maz! Don't send Febby out or he might come back also wearing a helmet with three antennae. I've watched Dr Who, I know about these things.

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
Oooooo...possibly sound advice, Tiz. ( we watched the "new" Dr Who this week and wouldn't give you tuppence).
So do you mean I swing a rubbish bag, or pop the old handbag over the arm ( with house brick inside) when taking the wheelie out in case of encounter? Handbag seems a bit formal for rubbish day. Don't want neighbours to think I am odd.
We went for an afternoon walk and I must admit that I scanned the street before we stepped out.

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
4 pencil sketches of Winnie the Pooh and other characters, signed by E.H. Shepard, caught my attention today. They are original pencil drawings but I have no idea where to get them authenticated.

You've got me going here.
Looking on fleabay, the first edition Pooh books go for a lot of money - approaching £2k, so if the are original signed sketches, and they look a 'bargain' I'd be careful. Let us know what you do.

They were in the bottom of a box of 10 picture frames. I gave a fiver for the lot, just need to find someone who can have a look at themTripps wrote:You've got me going here.Looking on fleabay, the first edition Pooh books go for a lot of money - approaching £2k, so if the are original signed sketches, and they look a 'bargain' I'd be careful. Is it one of these? Sothebys - Shepard
£139250 sounds tasty - but don't get too excited - there seem to be a lot of prints around. Should get your fiver back though, with a bit extra. Best of luck.

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
The style is very similar. They're not prints though. The 4 I have are pencil sketches. The E.H.S. signature is identical, I need to find out whether they are forgeries but don't know where to take them.Tripps wrote:Is it one of these? Sothebys - Shepard

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
Kev, in your place I would do high quality images and send them to Sotheby's and ask for their advice. They know the real experts and will advise you without charge. I would ring them first, explain the problem and ask for a specific person to send them to.
See THIS for the Guardian report on Rotherham. I don't need to burden you with explanations or personal comment. All I can say is that it is good that at last these matters are surfacing This is just the latest in a litany of revelation that includes all levels in our society from the peerage and major religions down to the worst perverts and abusers in the gutter. Punishment can't be too harsh.
I will comment on one thing though, the police wheeled out an officer who was not there when it happened, the Council did the same with their CEO and from both we got the old 'regret/apology/lessons have been learned' spin. This is nowhere near good enough, retribution must follow at all levels.
08:30. Worth listening to John Humphrys interviewing the PCC who was 'Cabinet Member for Youth Services' when the abuse referred to in the report was happening. He did not have an easy time.....

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
John Humphrys is getting to the end of his tether with people making excuses, not just on this type of issue but more generally. RBS for example, fined yet again...

Proud dad, talented son. There is hope for us yet!
I see that Wright, the South Yorkshire PCC has left the Labour Party but still refuses to resign his post....
Funny that the OFSTED report for 2010 which found Rotherham to be 'adequate' has vanished from their website....

I couldn't put this little mite in as a 'mystery object'....
This is Ollie, at one day, 2 hours and 45 minutes old when he visited yesterday, he's the youngest visitor to Barnoldswick Beach this year!

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
Ollie wasn't quite as excited as his big brother and sister - who've both spent a good deal of time on the beach with ante-natal mum.
(I'm trying for a 'beach birth', but no joy so far...)
