The lamp was bought as a decorative item, but I think it would work if necessary. It has a working wick, and oil tank. The 'crystal ball' is older than me. and is a paperweight, with a silver dog inside. Sort of souvenir of childhood. It was on the front window sill at home as long ago as I can remember.

A bit like the brass WW1 tank money box sitting on my window ledge now. Something that was always around when I was a child. Perhaps it's a hundred years old! :surprised:

What grabbed me was the fact I was up later than usual. Just a big sleep! I was in bed by 22:00 as usual and slept well. Gathering my forces for Kev perhaps.....

My attempt at getting a picture out of the gallery was a total waste of time. I will possibly, maybe, never, try again when I have calmed down. Is it me??

Select the picture in the Gallery by clicking on it's title. Highlight and copy the Image URL string from the first box under the image. Place your cursor in the position in your post where you want the image to appear, then select the "Insert Image" icon from the toolbar in the editor, (the one with a little mountain and sun). A "Enter a Link for Image" dialogue will open. Paste the copied URL from the gallery in the box provided then click "Insert Into Message". This will insert the URL string in your post with the correct sytax for display. The image will appear at the cursor position when you preview or finalise your post.

It's like riding a bike, once you have done it a couple of times it will become second nature.

Or try this Plaques...
1) click on your image in the gallery to open it
2) right click and choose "copy image address" from the drop down menu
3)Open the "post a reply" box in the topic where you want to post the image
4) Click on the "insert image" icon above the box (mountain & sun) and paste your link to the photo.

Thanks everybody for the words of encouragement. There's enough detail in the last posts to prod me into action again. I tend to run on a very short fuse with computers. If it doesn't do what I expect it to do, then boom! That's one life gone.
For those who are interested in the picture Pluggy kindly inserted it was a view from "up here" while I had the ladders out to clean some windows, looking down on Foulridge with the 'Pepper Pot' at Cowling on the far horizon. Wendy may be able to recognize some more of the detail. Sorry about the hazy quality of the image but most of the time you're lucky to see Foulridge.

Pluggy has done you a favour, Plaques, but you're not getting off that easily! Now it's your turn, show us you can insert the image in a post please. We know you can do it! (I know what you mean about having a short fuse with computers - I'm generally a very patient person but computers and software try my patience to the limit. Smartphones do the same thing.)

Wimp 'P' reporting latest nervous breakdown. This time its getting images into the Gallery. Two images selected and trimmed down to size. Went for the 'Gardens' section. Tried to be clever and put two files into the boxes before hitting the 'Continue' button. Boom. The result.... This site cannot be reached.
Came out and shut down OG completely, Started again with one image. Boom. again. Tried another three times Boom, boom and then got lucky. Being brave tried to get the second image in. Result.. This site cannot be reached. Boom. Boom.
Beginning to think the 'Gallery' has it in for me. I will try to sneak up on it tomorrow after I've seen my psychiatrist.
Sorry Tizer but I tried my best.

As we get older we all start to crumble a little. In my case it seems to have started with a shortening of the tolerance fuse. Something to do with the inverse square law and the doppler effect as your memory expands outwards.
The view is taken from the highest point in Red Lane Colne. Looking straight up the old Skipton Rd, Foulridge, with the new road on your left.

I'm still confused, is that Laneshaw Bridge in the middle distance Plaques? I cant work out if the hill behind is Knarrs...if it was Knarrs then Black Lane Ends should be in view as well. :dontgetit:

Those little dots in the centre-ish are the houses at the top end of Kelbrook near the petrol station.

Ah! I thought the building perched on the hill by the clump of trees looked like The Mount on Thornton Moor....but I still don't see how Cowling can be in the distance. Could it be Cracoe?

Thanks for trying Plaques. It sounds like you were doing the right things but something was wrong with the site or the Internet just at that time. I've never had a problem like that. I suggest you gird your loins and have another attempt - it may be plain sailing next time.

I may do just that but I'll keep trying and following the tips that I've now got listed down. Just at the moment I'm stone deaf, and I mean deaf. I don't think the library will be too pleased about the shouting and arm waving. I've tried lip reading but people get very up tight when I stare at their mouths. All very embarrassing.
