Tell him I am with him in spirit..... I know only too well how frustrating things like that can be but I always won in the end and so will Col!

Re: Kitchen Refurb
The boiler connections made with no serious problems but the chimney has taken the whole weekend. It's all back together now though, with the extractor fan in place. Finishing touches to the tile edges will be done after all the units go in. There will be some small cupboards either side of the stove with narrow sections of worktop stopping stuff falling down the sides.

Changes to central heating piping upstairs next...more floorboards coming up.

Lovely! So smart! Glad to hear that kippers can't fall down the sides..... Did you know that gelignite smells terrible when it's left to fester? Look up the old Blaster Bates recordings......

Re: Kitchen Refurb
Nothing to report from the kitchen, but a major re-jigging of the central heating system is underway. We wont even be able to light the woodburner for a week or two....where is the warm weather when you need it??

Re: Kitchen Refurb
Stanley do you have a 40mm spanner that Col can borrow? He is trying to get at a fairly inaccessible fitting on 1" pipe and there isn't room for the mole wrench.
Re: Kitchen Refurb
I'm not quite sure about a 40mm spanner but I've a couple of big adjustables, Let me know before 8 30am and I'll leave them outside the garage for you to pick up. I'm off out until 11-00 am.

Re: Kitchen Refurb
Thanks Plaques but an adjustable won't do, it is a very confined space.
Re: Kitchen Refurb
Wendy. Tell Col this is one of the old fashion type the width over the head is 90mm with a 15 degree crank handle. total length about 15 inch. The current standard of new adjustables are about 120mm head width.

Re: Kitchen Refurb
Wendy, sorry but I haven't got 40mm but I have two spanners that are very close and the jaws can be ground out to size. I will give them to him so he can modify them how he wants. Call in for them. He can cut , bend or reduce them to suit.

He's been and gone away a happy man. I have fresh eggs, garlic, onions and tomatoes. I can see a big Spanish Omelette coming on at teatime!

Re: Kitchen Refurb
Lovely! You have no idea how it cheers me to be able to make a difference. I've always said that poor folks have to help each other because nobody else will! I was congratulating him on the standard of the work he is doing and the finish. He said it's the finish that takes the time. Unlike me he is a perfectionist and it can make life hard. Bit like my engines, I don't do finish! I do working engines. If someone else wants to tart them up go to it. Reminds me of Ian actually.....

I may be counting my chickens before they are hatched, or even putting the cart before the horse...but the central heating task could be nearing completion. I have detected a slight lightening of mood. Testing the Joints Day tomorrow.

Just a couple of weeping joints to tighten up! Various pumps and stuff to wire up next, but by tomorrow night we should be warm & cosy.
