You are both right.... That grinding was a mistake. Or rather not wearing a mask. Funnily enough Maz I had visitors yesterday, Mick and Vicky Barritt from Kayfield and they brought green beans and flat Parsley!

No update so far.....

I'm glad to see that Jack's carrying out a `visitor inspection'.

Re: Family Matters
Feet fascinate Jack and they had walked over to Barlick so they took their boots off in the shed.
Put in a complaint this morning with the management saying I hadn't spoken to Janet for three weeks. She shot me down in flames by reminding me we talked 10 days ago on her birthday! Old age again..... Still, it may have had the desired effect! ( S & J were in the car together going to yet another appointment.) My overall impression is that Janet is making steady progress, no set backs.

Re: Family Matters
Maz's comments came to mind today when I heard about a recent incident involving my father-in-law. He's in a nursing home near High Wycombe and has Parkinson's and vascular dementia. He's got to the stage like my dad did of being liable to wander and not knowing what he's doing. He has bright moments but most of the time he's in his own world. Like we've said before, you have to keep light-hearted and sometimes need to laugh about events. This was the case now. He disappeared from his room during the night and was eventually found in someone else's room...lying naked on the floor! I think the resident was in bed at the time but we haven't been told whether he or she discovered dad or the nurses got there first.Marilyn wrote:I've always had a soft spot for escape artists and inventive folk. ( I found Tizzy's Dad delightful).
Bit of a bind for those keeping watch, but how resourceful the human spirit is. I remember those nights on night duty when my torch would catch semi comatose octogenarians half way over the cot-sides of their beds...hospital gowns flapping.
Always put my arms around them and said "Now where are you off to my darling?"

Re: Family Matters
One thing we are all grateful for is that Janet's massive operation didn't affect her cognition for long. She has got over the initial confusion and is a sharp as ever.

I'm even later, sorry about that. Happy birthday.

Re: Family Matters
For any of you that have an interest. The absence of updates on Janet is a product of the fact that the reality of the situation has become normality. Janet has been troubled of late with severe back pain which is puzzling the doctors and she is on a constant wearing round of appointments and consultations. As always, we have to watch and wait and trust the medical profession. Her support services are all working well and there are interludes of joy as she does what she wanted to do, spend time with her family. So there is happiness but it's tinged with the obvious downside.... Realistically, it's a miracle she is still functioning.

Thanks for the update Stanley. I wondered how things were going. As you say happiness but tinged with sadness.

Re: Family Matters
Unfortunately the `constant wearing round of appointments and consultations' has become the norm in medical treatment, it seems. One day it will get streamlined but until then at least we can be thankful for the quality of treatment.

Re: Family Matters
The bad news is that after I wrote that it became a bad day at the office. No details yet, they are too harrowing to relate but we may be entering the end game..... Thank God Janet is still lucid.....
