They wouldn't welcome being out this morning Liz. Heavy cold rain!
Wrote two articles yesterday, one remains in my head and will be done this morning. Then hopefully a bit of shed.

Cooking today, as we have 4 friends for a meal tonight. What with all our house decorating tasks this year we have done little socialising. They will have to put up with the state of the lounge.

This week Bob managed to remove the anaglypta and the wood chip on the ceiling. The paste was so old that once he started steaming the paper just fell off in his hands. Yesterday he started on the brick chimney breast which is floor to ceiling. It completely covers the original chimney breast. Bob built it in 1980 when we had the kitchen and bedroom extensions built. He is about three rows down and appearing from below the brickwork is the original 1960s paint put on by the first owner. One mustard coloured wall and three in a sort of bottle green turquoise. Yuk. We thought it was brilliant at the time, we Covered it in wallpaper in the same colours and bought a carpet to match.

The walls went white in 1980 when we built the fireplace and later we changed the carpet and furniture as I started work full time at Bury College in 1983

Sue, Bob made a tidy job of that bricklaying! I know what you mean about the oil paint on the walls. I remember it being the latest thing, Cream and Buckingham Green..... In humid weather with inadequate heating condensation ran down the walls! But it was seen as 'modern' and 'hygienic' because it could be washed down.
I wrote my third article yesterday and worked out the dates for the Xmas articles. No shed but I shall be in there today for a bit of light entertainment. Then the Brazilian GP!

He certainly did , it took him weeks. He used lollipop sticks as spacers and to level out the mortar between th bricks. We did the fireplace as we have brick feature walls in the kitchen and front hall that were outside walls and they all matched. We still have the feature walls as we like them. I like the fireplace but it really is quite a dark feature in the room.

The Brazilian GP wasn't on until 22:00 so I went to bed instead. I'll see if they have it on play again today.....

Looking forward to our daughter, husband and their little girl arriving at 10pm tonight and staying for a week or two. They flew to China from California last week. My wife is so excited as we haven't seen them for about 15 months. Today will be spent on a final spit and polish. Also today is our 12th wedding anniversary so we'll go out for lunch together.

Thanks Maz and Wendy. The plan changed. I offered to take my wife to lunch or dinner and she says she has already cooked food to eat at home. She's too excited to be bothered going out! Never mind, we'll have a long walk to the railway station later and a family supper on our return.

I hope you both have a happy day China, you deserve it!
I shall be attacking the rectification of my cock-up yesterday, I have to save my cylinder! I have decided to sweat the repair plate onto the top but am concious that for years I have been bumbling along with an El Cheapo blow lamp, the sort that is simply a head you screw onto a can and always leaks! I shall take a later walk and see what B&D have to offer me. There will be a better way! (It's raining hard at the moment anyway....)

It's going well Sue, but I do wish your photos were the right way up, I'm getting a crick in my neck trying to see them! Can you post them to the gallery?

As an attachment Sue you have no control over how the photo is presented it will be displayed in the orientation determined by the filing system. I think you use an Apple device if I'm not mistaken, Apple have a proprietary way of handling image files. Not a fan myself of Apple kit, overpriced and in some cases not fit for purpose.

If you put them in the gallery you will have full control over how they appear in posts, the gallery has its own orientation controls.

I had started putting things in the gallery , in fact the first of the series was in the gallery. However I have been a bit short of time and our system has been playing up, taking ages to upload pictures . It was faster just to do the one step of upload attachment here. Sorry. It's good for blood flow to the head :laugh5:

Walking one of our Weets circulars. It's a walk for Dan day, 4 years today since he died. Our jack has the day off and will come with us, Carla cannot get cover at school so she will join us later with her kids for our meal at the Fountain. Four years but still like yesterday.

Not a very nice day for your walk Ian, if Weets is covered in wet snow like it is here. I just came up the hill from Earby in the middle of a snowstorm, a first snowy outing for the SsangYong and it was very surefooted...I quite enjoyed myself!
