Seeing Maz's photo of the box holding the cheese slices brought back a memory. It reminds me of the old days before personal computers when I used to keep alphabetically ordered reference cards in a plastic box. The box was never as attractive as Maz's example though! Another memory from that box - do any of you remember an American company called, I think, Gateway Computers. The PCs were sold in boxes with the same cow pattern black & white. It was because the boss of the company had been a Mid-West farmer.

I can only say, that the box keeps my cheese slices in perfect condition. For a cheap product, it does the job perfectly ( hence its 15 years in the fridge)

Home brewed beer crown corker. The throat gap looks small so probably for dumpy bottles of high alcohol content.

I reckon the throat is about 4 to 5" and the travel of the "push rod" is about 3 to 3½" so whatever was placed on the bed wouldn't be pierced completely. Unless there is a piece missing?

Fascinating. I missed all that but might have got somewhere near as it hasn't enough room in the throat for the more obvious uses like corking wine bottles.
