John Haynes OBE, I reckon nearly everyone had one of his workshop manuals at some time.

His manual for my 1100 Pan European has everything you need to know for general maintenance and beyond if you have the kit to do more adventurous repairs. We got one of our lads the Starship Enterprise Haynes.

John Stalker former Manchester policeman.
Badly treated by the establishment I'd say.

Very badly David. I have the book, is it called Poison Tree? His big mistake was telling the truth bluntly when asked to report on Irish matters.
An honest cop.....

Paul Flynn MP has died. I followed his blog for several years now, and noticed he had stopped posting about six months ago, and guessed he wasn't well.. He was a friend of Gordon Prentice, and a fully paid up member of the awkward squad. I liked him.
From the BBC Obituary.
Speaking to Radio Cymru's Beti a'i Phobl programme in 1995 he said the best description of him had been one by the late political sketch-writer Simon Hoggart who had said he was "the thinking man's Dennis Skinner".
He thought that could be his epitaph.

I saw that David and agree with what you say. One of the good guys who never forgot where he came from and why he was there. It was Gordon who alerted me to him.

Follow up to Paul Flynn MP. I've just been browsing through my old posts (I didn't know you could do that), and I found several references to him there.
Worth re-posting I'd say. This was about seven years ago before Twitter etc gained such a following.
From the blog of Paul Flynn MP.
Tweeting and 24 hour media cheapen politics. The greatest achievements of the past 60 years were those of Clement Attlee who read the papers only for the cricket scores. Without an incontinence of exposure, he created the NHS and modernised the Welfare State. Attlee's achievements endured for half a century: Cameron's for a half a day.

I read that too, my son saw The Prodigy in concert some time ago. Apparently they were very good.

I vaguely recognised his face, and it seems his hit record is called 'I'm a fire starter', which I heard for the first time today on every news bulletin I watched. I wasn't too impressed with it - I think it must be some sort of tribute to Ray Mears.

I read an article about Keith a few years ago. Despite his appearance he was a lovely guy. One of his elderly neighbours praised him for the support he gave to her and would not have a word said against him. RIP Keith. Nolic

Scott Engel, otherwise known as Scott Walker has died aged 76. My teenage hero. I touched his foot once at a concert in Harrogate.

RIP
