I am here, Stanley, and my thoughts are with you.
I see you have had a stressful time, and understand there may be stressful times ahead yet...but as a member of your "online" family, I send my warmest cyber hug.
A few things going on at home and our approaching road trip have me busy, but not too busy to spend time hoping for whatever maximum outcome your brave lass can achieve.

I've rechristened her Nurse Gladys Cath.... (Open All Hours?)
News this morning that all is going well. Janet is slipping in and out of sleep, has had some visitors and hates IC. Word is that she is doing so well they'll be moving her out soon. Gladys sees her today, I've warned her not to hug her too hard! Susan took Jaffa Cakes out for Janet. Maddie (Harry's young lady) not realising the significance of them opened a packet. Susan is going to have to explain this to Janet! Onwards and Upwards!
By the way, I've stopped worrying about how well I am coping. Perhaps I'm growing up at last.....
Update at 06:00. Margaret and Susan visit Janet today. All three sisters in one room! Bertie doesn't stand a chance.

Thanks for that Cathy, I'll pass it on.

Updates....
We're over the first big hurdles and from now on I will only update you if there is something really significant. You are all friends of Janet and we want you to be included.
At the moment, she is doing as well as can be expected and had time with Margaret and Susan today.
If any of you have particular questions fell free to ask me or nail me on the street. Thanks for all the support. Love to you all, S

We are in limbo, a quiet spell where Janet is slowly climbing back into the world after a traumatic intervention. Unknown territory, the family are with her 24/7. Less communication which is understandable but I have asked them all to remember that it's lonely over here. I am keeping busy and doing as well as can be expected. (I am fed up with being strong!) I will have visitors today from the NE and it will be a welcome distraction!

good lad! it all helps. No updates this morning but instead of fretting about being home alone I reflect that no news is good news, In my experience, bad news travels fast and she sent her love yesterday and got a proxy kiss from me. That's as good as it gets at the moment. (Nevertheless, I have nudged them!)

just wondering if Janet is out of ICU yet and able to get out of bed a bit? (Possibly shower/walk about)
I understand there are a lot of variables in recovery time, and wouldn't most of us hate spending an entire week in bed...

We've been away on holiday in Cornwall for the last 10 days and completely out of touch so we've both been glued to our screens reading this thread with tears of emotion welling up in our eyes. It's wonderful to find that everything has gone well so far - I know Janet's not out of the woods yet but the story so far is miraculous. The skill of the surgeons and their team, the power of modern medicine, the toughness and positive attitude of the patient and the well-organised support of the family all combining to give the maximum chance of a positive outcome.

Anyway, we're back now and will be watching the developments...and we're pleased to know you're bearing up well Stanley. Love and big hugs from both of us.

Lovely, you are all so supportive!
Maz, you asked at exactly the right time. I got this message from Susan this morning. "Morning Dad, Janet been up, walked with help to the shower, drinking thickened juice. Talking about a plan to get her home. Still in High Dependency Unit xx"
Can you imagine how nice that shower must have felt and the feeling of the juice in her mouth and throat...? Unexpectedly good news..... Only a week today since they were in her head with a chainsaw!!!!
I have sent her a message playing hell with her for fooling us into thinking she was poorly.....
