For newspapers? I think they called it ‘cold’ something.

You are so close Cathy I am going to give it to you, you've done all the work! It's the keyboard of a hot metal typesetting machine which cast each letter from molten metal. The trade name was 'Lynotype'. (LINK)
Well done! Next one?

Well done, Cathy - have you worked in printing?

Now, how about this for a quick response to Stanley's `Next please'? What is this pic all about?

Have I worked in Printing? No, but my ex-husband was a Printer, I must have remembered something from that time.

Is that the big man we are all waiting for?

I don't think so, but which big man do you mean, Cathy?

Ah, right, that's a good guess, I can see why you thought that - but wrong answer!

It's specialised trailer. Is it the delivery of a military statue to a museum?

I would have thought that any museum piece would have been crated up with a lot better protection. I looks too lightweight to be solid anything, possibly fibreglass or multiple pipework. So after all this' I don't know?

It's not a stone statue.

Does that imply that it is a statue? Fibre glass representation of a figure in military uniform then?
The shape of the base puzzles me, why so much of it behind him?

I didn't notice that. Is he kneeling down?

I can see why you said that Gloria! I was puzzling over that raised arm as well. An interesting suggestion....

It's certainly got us puzzling Stanley.

If that is an arm sticking out the angle suggests it should be holding or supported by something.

That's got you all going! In answer to your suggestions:
We wouldn't normally call it a statue.
It's not fibre glass.
Its isn't a Lobster / Crayfish / Prawn or pump.
He isn't kneeling down (yes, it is a `he' not an `it'.)
Yes, there is an arm sticking out.

Keep thinking!

Is that a prison or a sports ground , I can see what looks like barbed wire on top of the fence.
Is it a sporting mascot?

Stanley Matthews?

Nothing to do with sport - and definitely not Stanley Matthews. In his time he would have been more famous even than Stanley Matthews!
