Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
I got mixed up with my dates, the farrier is coming on the 17th not the 7th.
Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Suggest cut back on the red wine, Wendy!
I have to constantly school myself re days of the week at present ( so cannot gloat).
Hubby on holidays and all these recent public holidays have thrown my internal calendar out. It is time he went back to work...

Setting off with Doc. We shall cross the manorial boundary shortly after 10:00, go to his sail-maker at Windermere and after a leisurely lunch, come back via Preston and have a look at the boat. Looking forward to it!
When we get back I shall read all the instructions for tomorrow's change over to Talk Talk. If I go off the radar for a while don't worry!

I'm sorting my country wear, The Magee Donegal tweed sports coat and highly polished Tricker boots. I shall not let my mate down! Definitely '2,000 acres in Norfolk'!

(I'm really enjoying re-discovering my wardrobe. Thank God I had the sense to buy good clothes when I could afford it!)

Today I have booked a holiday to Majorca to celebrate our 55th wedding anniversary in March.
Say only a little but say it well.
Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
This morning I had a nice long swim, this afternoon a pedicure and did a bit of writing for my creative writing group. This evening it's dance exercise. Tomorrow I will relinquish my role as convenor for the creative writing group. I have done it for three and a half years, published two books for them and brought the membership up from 5 to 14. Time for someone else , I think.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
I've been out for a wet and muddy walk down to Kelbrook & back with my neighbour and Alfie the dog, who is beginning to feel his age. He can manage stone stiles, but the narrow wooden ones defeat him, especially when they are wet and slippery.
Col has been out buying logs. We should have nearly enough for next winter's supply, perhaps one more load. There is a bit more stacking to do tomorrow.

In Colne library this morning. I'm not getting on very well with the Doreen Crowther Index, there are always family history queries to work on.

In the last week I have celebrated my 17th wedding anniversary to husband No. 2.
I admire people like you who can get to 55 years. ( something I will never see).
Gosh....55 years is really special. I am truly envious.
Enjoy!

We had a good day thanks Wendy, see 'What attracted your attention' for a pic of Doc with his boat. Very impressive!
Today has been entirely occupied with getting my new ISP set up and persuading the mail system to work. With a bit of help from my friends all is sorted out now.....

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Went to the cinema today to escape the heat. Saw "Hitchcock".
Really enjoyed it. ( thought Helen Mirren was excellent. Anything with Helen in it is excellent. Wanted to put a bit more weight on Hitchcock, especially his face, but otherwise the role played by Hopkins was also well done.I loved everything about their house in the movie too.)
Saw "Quartet" a few weeks ago and enjoyed that too ( all my favourite people in that one).

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
I cant remember when I last went to the cinema, we were planning on going to see the Hobbit over Xmas but didn't get round to it....we couldn't agree on whether to see it in 3D or not!
Earby Heritage Room this morning. We are open from 10 till about 1.00 if anyone would like to come along and see the archives.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Febby and I sat in the back row of the small cinema ( so romantic?)
It was near the door we had come in. There was a heavy curtain shutting out any light.
I noticed about half way through the movie that a single gentleman on his own had actually fallen asleep ( snoring gave him away) just in front of us.what a waste of money I thought!
About 10 mins before the end of the movie, someone casting light nearby by coming through the back curtain caught my attention. He began to approach us, but changed his mind, making his way to the sleeping gentleman in the next row down.
( I thought this odd because I hadn't been aware of anyone leaving earlier).
He tapped the man on the shoulder. Being woken from sleep in a strange place obviously made the man jump.
I actually had thoughts of the cinema massacre in America some time back!
Febby called out and suggested that perhaps this large young man was in the wrong theatre???.
He responded...but it was impossible in the dark to tell if he was intoxicated or possibly a simpleton ( his speech was slurred and he seemed a bit disoriented).
But he stumbled out and that was the end of it.
It was still scarey. Once you are in the cinema and in another world, there is no one keeping watch at the door these days. In reality, anyone could wander in.
I'm going to make a point of sitting further in, in future. Hee hee...give me self a fighting chance of finding a hiding spot..

It was a toss up between Hitchcock or Hobbit.
But it was my choice this time, so it was Hitchcock. ( in the movie someone calls him Hitchcock... He responds by saying " please call me Hitch and hold the cock". Ooooooooooo)

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Today has been shopping & now a bit of geneaology. Yesterday we went to buy a new car (new to us that is), we have a Nissan Xtrail at the moment, but as we have sold our tin tent we do not need such a big car. We have now gone to the extreme and bought a Nissan Micra 1.2 which will cost us a lot less to run in insurance, tax & fuel. No doubt it will feel like being in a dodgem car at first. It is an automatic (well we are getting on a bit!!) so that will make it easier, although last time we had one I really missed changing gear.
Say only a little but say it well.
Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Craft today, and cooking this afternoon for guests tonight. Pumpkin and feta cheese filo pastry triangles for starters with plum sauce or mango chutney. Then a good old fashioned steak with cauliflower cheese, carrots , roast parsnips and potatoes. Blackberry and apple pie for afters.
