Christmas tinsel hung in loops...people with coats on, so Northern Hemisphere Christmas...America ( cowboy shirt).
That pattern of checks, both on the front of the counter and echoed in the edge of the carpet is familiar...but the only business we had using that checked pattern used to be Lenard’s ( all gone now) which used to be a Chicken Butcher.
Doesn’t seem to be anywhere to sit so it must be take-away???
I thought airport, but no one has luggage...
Baseball...Yankees vs ?

Sorry, nobody has got near it yet.
You would have been in the right area.
Was Stanley saying where Big Kev used to live? Did he live on Ellis St?

Funny how what I think is obvious gets you all going. You are all in the right place, NY but nobody has put their finger on it. Here's the last clue. When I answered Kev and said 'would have' I implied that it isn't there any more..... This object is now history.

You are all missing the obvious candidate. Rather than cut you off at the knees, here's the best clue yet.

Kev has got it exactly, it's the snack bar beneath the outside viewing platform on World Trade No. 2. The day I was there in winter 1980 it was too cold and windy to be allowed on to the top platform, it was around 20F.
That went well! Sorry for any stress it caused. Next one?

I'll have to log on earlier in the morning - when I read Stanley's post it immediately said Twin Towers to me! Grrrh!
Plaques, if the pub is up there in Barlick world I wouldn't know it but I'll make a guess that it's not a pub any more, it's ...oooh...let's say a museum or a library!

Tizer The pub is still there as a pub. It was what was associated with the pub's name is what I'm after. Actually I don't know the history but Stanley may be able to enlighten us with a bit of forgotten corner stuff.

Crossed keys is the emblem of St Peter and if the pub was there before the Reformation it may have been called the St Peter. Many pubs at that time had to change their names to avoid obvious association with Catholic religion. If it was a St Peter it would probably have been near a church. Anything in that relevant?

St Peter's in Burnley the oldest Parish church, has a number of 'Crossed Keys' carved above its entrance. Also the 'Crossed Keys' pub at the other end of town (Burnley) was part of a large area of land owned by the church. All very interesting but nothing to do with the pub in Barlick. If fact instead of supporting the good citizens of Barlick it was targeting those at the other end.
