I know some of you will be suffering withdrawal symptoms due to having no football matches being played on TV at the moment so here is a brief film for you. Burnley football club, 1926! LINK

The local kids have been busy, we all have 'rainbow rocks' on our back fence posts, how lovely.

Rainbows are a gay thing :biggrin2:

Or possibly children spreading some joy...

These kids know a thing or two.

Rainbow moonstone is thought to bring balance, harmony and hope while enhancing creativity, compassion, endurance and inner confidence. Rainbow moonstone is believed to help strengthen intuition and psychic perception, especially offering us visions of things that aren't immediately obvious.

They are also a gay symbol! ( trust me)

OK Maz they are a gay thing, so what? They are also a favourite choice of simple images that young children paint or draw. We are currently displaying one in our upstairs front bedroom window that our Carla did when she was about four years old.

On the choice of images from young children. Carla was the rainbow girl, Dan did rockets and aeroplanes and our Jack did elephants (nellies). :biggrin2:

I'm aware of that, your comments imply that's a bad thing...

Really...
Read my second comment saying they are “Children spreading joy”.
Who has the problem here?
I gave BOTH explanations.

I had a beautiful rainbow on the back window of my mini in the early 80s. My little boy loved it. It meant nothing but joy back then.

Here is a variation on the theme Moonstone Rainbow.

Don't call it a Unicorn either, I was berated by our Ruby when she was about five years old. "No Granddad, it's not a Unicorn it's an Allacorn". OK love. :extrawink: :laugh5:

Lovely sketch. very sentimental. I could be pedantic about the number of moons on Saturn or the planets in the solar system but I won't comment. But I have. Have I? Well forget it. Pretend I haven't. :extrawink:

Why argue. Rainbows have always been special.

We could get Biblical and say that rainbows symbolise ‘No more floods’. I like to think that in the case of Coronavirus, they symbolise Hope. 🌈 😊

But you reiterated the 'gay' connection, perhaps you should have mentioned the 'children spreading joy' bit again as well :-)

What does it matter whose rainbow it is?

The NHS and specifically the new Nightingale Unit in London have been inundated with children's rainbow paintings, (the power of social media acting as a virus in it's own right!). So much so they have made an appeal to stop sending them the pictures. OK to put them up in household windows they bring a smile to most folk that see them.

Thanks Kev for the Scottish Link, answered my question perfectly. :biggrin2:
And now for something entirely different.... The location, the end of Wellhouse Road at the War Memorial. Time; yesterday morning at 9AM. A Pendle Council van pulls up followed by two vans from a private traffic management company. These three were joined by a council 3 tonner with the tools and a small heap of tarmac. After a consultation the 3 tonner parked in the Pioneer Car park and the driver went off towards the Co-op. I was on my way home and left the scene.
The same afternoon, I saw what they had done..... It was pathetic! Two depressions had been filled with tarmac with no cutting back, just poured in the hole and flattened out. Other larger holes had been ignored. Totally useless and what was the cost of four vehicles? Why were there two traffic control vans supplied under an external contract? How much does this 'management' cost the ratepayer? Wouldn't it be better to do one patch of road properly?
I'll do a pic of it when I walk Jack........

Image

Note the other holes they didn't bother with.....

The Facebook appeal, for rainbow pics to be sent to the new Nightingale Hospital, was fake...

Makes you wonder why anyone would do that, It isn't that they don't have enough on their plate. Some sad individuals about unfortunately.

But well meaning I'd guess. Facebook seems to be a magnet for such people.

Not a new phenomenon though This Craig Shergoldstarted in 1979, well before the internet. Good to read he made a full recovery.
