Morning Sue. Yes, I think it will get a warm welcome when it reaches Kahara. One thing about it, it's built to last. He can give it to his grandchildren, not many things you can say that about. I asked Susan if she still wanted the new one I am making and she is absolutely sure she does. That's nice because of course it gives me a valid reason rather than just keeping busy.
I hope the swelling
does go down Sue. I've always liked borax for soothing mouth washes but I suppose that's hopelessly out of date now.
I am having a breather after two hours in the shed, then the usual dog walk, breakfast and post Shed Matters. It's a good routine and seems to suit both of us.
Later, the end result of two hours in the shed.

I am enjoying a little glass of Red Wine after sewing /cutting/ironing all day... ( I am actually tired!) but it has been a great day.
We were supposed to have a delivery yesterday morning, waited in all day, went for a walk about 4pm to find the note left by delivery men on our return. Hubby phoned and they said they would be back today before noon. No delivery happened and it is now nearly 6 pm.
Just how much of your life do you have to dedicate to delivery men? We rarely get anything delivered, but all this waiting is ridiculous. We had plans for tomorrow, but have just discussed that it may mean seperate trips if one of us needs to “wait in”.

Do you still have signing for parcels Maz? The carriers over here in the UK dropped that requirement months ago. Even for services that the sender has paid for a signature. Some of our couriers just knock dump and run. You have to check your wheelie bins over here if you have missed a delivery, seems to be a favourite place for some couriers.

No it is quite frustrating, Panbiker. They say they need a signature, but they don’t at all. Last delivery they just asked for my initials, as the item was ordered by my husband, and he was home and only needed to come downstairs to receive his parcel. I went to sign on their electronic thingamyjig but was told it wasn’t necessary. I was left slightly annoyed when delivery didn’t happen yesterday morning, and again this morning, when it failed to appear once again. I hate parcel delivery. I think there are a lot of obnoxious parcel delivery persons out there who refuse to conform to the delivery times indicated. Are they underpaid and overworked and under appreciated? I don’t know. But something isn’t right.
( ps...it was a “paid” delivery as opposed to a “free” delivery)

You have hit the nail on the head with overworked and underpaid. I had a delivery a few months ago which had tracking on. When I checked it said the driver was in Nelson and my delivery was on his/her van and I was something like 187 in the list. This was at 10am in the morning. Can you imagine having that many drops in a single day and having to drive between them all. The guy didn't make it! I got my parcel the day after. He said he only got to 120 on his list by 9pm, he was on penalty as well for missing his quota.

I understand, we all need to be a bit more patient. But after missing two time slots, when we have waited in, we are still in the dark as to when it will be. Hey! They will likely knock before sun up tomorrow and it will be dressing gown flapping...

Today I shall mainly be getting two new front tyres and rear wiper blade on the car. Known potential fails for the MOT it will get following replacements. My MOT was due at the end of June but it was deferred for 6 months under the Covid rules. I have to get it done before the end of November but I prefer it being due in the summer months. Booked in at 1.30pm today.

Carrying on bravely as near normal as possible.
Gentle shed exercise on the beam.
Claiming the lost Graham millions.
Watching Jack like a hawk, he went AWOL at 3AM this morning and I had to go trolling round the streets looking for him. He was in the back street when I eventually gave up and got home. I restrained my natural desire to knock seven colours of shit out of him, gave him his bit of sausage and chalked it up to experience. From now on he has his morning pee in the front garden under surveillance!

Could you use an extendable lead or long line for Jack so he gets some freedom when you are in open spaces but cant wander off?

Just don’t open the gate. He will pee in the back yard instead of the lane but it can be washed down ( unlike the back lane).

Morning
Losing Jack at 3.00 am is no joke Stanley . I can’t imagine how you felt. You are right no point chastising him, he only wanted a pee.
It promises to be a nice day here. I have dance exercise this morning and want to do some washing, towels and a white cotton boil wash. I may change the bedding but may leave it till tomorrow. Joanne is coming to clean this afternoon, first time since we got back in May. We shall go out and keep out of her way. We shall drop a large box off to Claire for packing and tootle off somewhere for an hour or so . Later I may cut back some perennial plants that have got rather large. Nothing too strenuous but it needs doing before we leave on Sunday, or they will be very overgrown when we get back in September
We had a nice socially distanced meal yesterday lunchtime, its always nice to chat with friends. I t was warm when we drove back and after a good meal and wine I felt really sleepy and eventually indulged in an hours sleep lying on my bed. I needed the yoga session afterwards to waken up properly.
Have a good day.

I have been powering on, sewing masks. We have at least three ( older bachelor neighbours) and two ( immune compromised) neighbours that we know of. A good time to check on them and leave them with a few gifted masks...

Did you manage to get elastic

Apart from the length I found in my craft cupboard ( that did about 16 masks)..no...but I went to the local Patchwork shop today, who have promised a load of narrow elastic coming next week. They are not the cheapest place on the planet, but I shall see what they offer and make a decision. (I did buy some more lightweight interfacing today and found the price about 30% more than I was expecting). This is a shop that caters for bus loads of quilting tourists who get off the bus and buy buy buy. A tourist Mecca, so I will not be seduced into ridiculous prices for mere elastic! (I don’t think I have found my solution yet). I hate this sort of thing. I hate being held to ransom because I live outside the city!

Is there no eBay in Australia? That would be my first port of call for such a thing. Just be a bit patient, and Pete the Postman will bring it to you

We are not going to France now , we have managed to postpone the trip for two weeks whilst we see what happens. Bob waited on the phone to Brittany ferries for over half an hour. We both felt safe going there and being there but were very wary about what would happen whilst there. Quarantine we can cope with but we just can’t face the uncertainty again, for getting back home if the ferries get cancelled again due to lack of customers if quarantine restrictions are brought in. We have rebooked for the 27 th August for a two week visit, but will adjust as necessary .

Jack started the day with a supervised pee in the front garden with the gate closed.
Aiming for the shed but it might be a bit warm in there after yesterday and we are promised sun today. I'll see later on.
06:45. Am up to my oxters in veggie cooking. Shed might miss....

Morning
Yesterday afternoon we took a large box over to Claire for packing then spent a couple of hours in her local park with Adam and Erin, whilst Claire was working from home. The weather was so different from last week. Its amazing how much the grass had grown since last Saturday. At home afterwards, our friend and mobile hairdresser came and cut Bob’s hair, then we rounded up the day with a beer in the back garden
We are off to the market at Bacup this morning, then on our return I shall change and wash the bedding. I had kept the day fairly clear for packing, but obviously won’t be doing that now. We have decided we will still go down to Coventry tomorrow and have our picnic in the park with Julia and family, so later today I will put together the items needed for that. Otherwise no plans.
Have a good day

A day promising to be full of bits and pieces like yesterday. Cut some more grass. Yesterday's effort was heavy going really too damp to cut grass it kept building up round the blades. Notice that the moss was building up on the drive. Mixed 1 litre of heavy bleach to make up 5 litres and sprayed the build ups, Will mix some more for the rest of the drive to finish off. Stanley would be proud of me. Replaced a quartz clock mechanism with a new one from ebay, Tip, if you buy a replacement make sure that the threaded portion that sticks through the clock face is the right length. Played with the sheet metal cutting nibbler, Ok but came unscrewed and I have to start again. That's life! one miserable failure after another.

Plauquey, I would really like to call around and give you a hug of positive reinforcement. You got up this morning, as opposed to spending your day in bed. You need to feel good about yourself and what you did today. I say that, because it was so cold here today and my hands were frozen, so I could not sew. A wasted day...yet...after a warming Curry tonight...all nerve endings are bopping,..and I am finally warmed through. ( I wish to stress I did not spend the day in bed).
Tomorrow may be warmer..
