We got told they didn't want this person on Mustique, but was allowed on this island for a reason.

Knowing nothing about the Pop stars I await the dénouement with interest.

Quite a few rock n rollers have homes on Mustique. Don’t know why one in particular wasn’t wanted initially.

David Bowie- something to do with mysticism, witchcraft, something like that 🤔

It's Eric Claptons house on Antigua. He wanted to build on Mustique but we were told they didn't want him, so he went to Antigua and offered to build a rehabilitation hospital for drug addicts in return for permission to build a house. The house is called Standfast Point, the hospital is Crossroads Centre. The hospital takes a percentage of locals free of charge as part of the deal. You can hire the house for a week for $36,000.

That reminds me of my late mate Roger Perry's image of this graffiti in London.

Not much of an idea. Just thoughts.
The spade handle seems to ratchet towards the two other handle type things. It's got a hook for I don't know what.

Thinking is good. Observations correct..... Now what specific job was it designed for?

Sorry to answer it so quickly but it was just a guess!

This one is a Mystery Photo, one from a box of old glass slides that have been donated to the Earby History Society. I don't have the answer but would love to know where this photo was taken and if anyone has seen it before.

Not sure Wendy. The only possible candidate in Barlick is the Corn Mill chimney, about the right size. In Earby the only candidate would be Old Shed on what is now New Road, they had an engine at one time.
I've looked through my archive and haven't got it.

Does it look stuck at that angle to you?

No way Wendy, it's beyond recovery and on its way down for sure.

While people are mulling over the chimney, what's going on here?

Could a brief moment like that be caught so clearly on a glass slide?

Is that a church which can just be made out in the background towards the right? Perhaps easiest to figure out where that is, then place the church.

I was thinking about the church as well Gloria. Colne's sky line would have a church but it also has the Town Hall.
Wendy, is there any other plates in the box which may give a clue to the location.

On Stanley's rocks. Very similar rocks were used at New-Biggin-by-the-Sea to protect the promenade from undercutting erosion.

My initial thought was Colne, especially as some of the slides refer to Colne Camera Club, it could be pre town hall but I think there are too many trees on the hill. The town hall was opened in 1894.

I don't think St Bartholomews tower is the same as the photo. The one in the photo looks to have a globe type pointy thing on the top, hope that makes sense.

On the rocks...Plaques could be right with `protect the promenade from undercutting erosion', i.e. a delivery of what's known as `rock armour' used to prevent coastal erosion. But I wouldn't have expected such rocks to be labelled as these are (in red). Also rock armour uses very hard rock and this lot doesn't look up to the job. Could it be rock being sent out from a coastal quarry?

Wendy's chimney. See what you think about this. Stone Bridge Mills Colne was roughly at the bottom of Windy bank and Stone Bridge (now part of Windy Bank) opposite where Norfolk street enters Windy Bank. If, with a bit of imagination, take a view from lower down Stone Bridge looking up to St Bartholomew's it would be possible to just miss the Town Hall at the right hand side. A guess but just plausible.

The photo could easily have been taken before the town hall was built Plaques, but it doesn't really look like the tower of St Barts....

You could have something there Plaques. Norfolk Street on the left and Matalan now on the right when looking up Windy Bank.

Image snipped from Google Street Maps.
