Don't be tempted. The colour looks light, though that may be the photograph, and those are not the original drawer handles. Anathema sit.

I paid about a grand for one similar to this about twenty five years ago and that was in a sale! Stag Minstrel unit

It does say it has new crystal knobs, I can't see Paul advertising it as Stag if it isn't. £155 sounds a good price for a quality bit of furniture though :-)

Oh it is Stag OK - no question, but changing the knobs to crystal is not an improvement. Quite the opposite.

Might appeal to someone with no taste whatever though. The price is retail - and about what you would expect - no good to those of the kuripot tendency though. :laugh5:

I presume the drawer pulls could be reinstated, if you can get them :-)

Drawer pulls are available on Ebay for £22 for a pack of four, other used sets of 4 or 6 for less than £10, there is also a similar unit on auction, currently £31.00

I don't think I have ever bought anything but good furniture made out of wood. In the early days, like David I was paying new prices and still enjoy the 'G' Plan units I bought then. When I moved in here I went to a secondhand furniture warehouse in Nelson and bought good hardwood furniture for ridiculously low prices.
Today I shall be settling down into my new routines which will include the shed and my walks. I am absolutely determined to keep my walks and perhaps even expand them as I have more freedom now. I always knew how restrictive dog ownership was but accepted it for the companionship. I may find now that I didn't need it. It's interesting and I am still exploring the possibilities. One thing is certain, there is life beyond dog owning!

Morning

I have to agree Maz, the aah factor with our mattress is not about sinking in, it is about the utter comfort and a nice firm sprung mattress, giving total support. This mattress is thicker than ones we have had in the past which helps as well I think.

Lovely morning and forecast a lovely day, which is good because we are out for lunch with Wendy and Keith today and of course will have to sit outside. We are changing venue. The one we have been going to, the one we have been to every week for years, we felt was not as COVID savvy as it should be, so we are going local. The pub down the road from us seems to have it right so we are trying it, unfortunately the menu is very pie and chips. We hopefully have a table booked outside.

Yesterday I finished jeans number 4, thats all my summer stuff made now but of course not much summer left or indeed anywhere to go at the moment. Even a walk has been off the cards this week due to the weather. I now have a top to make for my new tracksuit and I think I will retire from the sewing machine for a bit. Its kept me sane over the last few months but there are only so many clothes once can wear😆.

Our tables arrived, very plain and modern looking but just the right colour. I spent some time cleaning up the old tables. I used renovating stain and dark furniture oil and buffed well. I polished the glass using soapy water and then paper towels. They came up lovely . I did such a good job we have decided to keep the two side tables and just get rid of the larger coffee table which although looking better still shows its age and wear. We have phoned the British Heart Foundation who will collect it and put it in their shop. Over the years we have donated loads of furniture and everything has sold, all for a good cause.

Bob is out this morning. He is meeting our butcher from Bacup market, who is also a collector and dealer in old interesting things. No he is not collecting Bob now he meets the criteria , but he has some steam engine bits and pieces Bob my be interested in.

Pilates this morning, yoga this evening.

Have a nice day everyone.

We are taking advantage of the weather and going out for a walk. We plan to do a circular from Earby, along to Sough then over towards Salterforth, Rainhall, Gill Church, Thornton in Craven and back to Earby. Easy walking and around 5.5 miles.

Sounds good and the only decent walking day of the week, unfortunately also the only decent day for eating outside :laugh5:

If I added in Kelbrook it would make a ' Four Churches' walk suitable for the history society to enter in the Pendle Walking Festival if it is held next year.

I hope a sleep revives you Stanley. It's the cleaning wot does it.

I'm a fan of dark furniture, and it's definitely out of favour at the moment . I like Stag Minstrel, and the best source is Gumtree, though you have to be patient and have a vehicle which will carry the stuff.
Yes, had a look on there and found nothing , been looking for weeks. The new sofa buy has stirred us into action. May do a renovation job on our other furniture now

Weather miserable once again. Spent the day hand sewing...a good day for such a task. I achieved a lot today actually. Had to put the heater on about 3pm, because my fingers had turned white with cold and I couldn’t feel them. Very hard to hand sew with cold fingers!
We didn’t get our daily walk, because every time we thought it a good time another squall of wet, wintry weather came through. We shall do twice the distance tomorrow.
Won’t be long, and it will be Spring here! All good.

The ebay Stag chest went for £73 - which is probably about right. OK if you live near Skegness, and have a suitable vehicle.

Feeling fragile, Stanley? Sleep will be your cure and your friend. Go at your own pace, be kind to yourself. You know that advice will work. You have lost your best mate. It is a big thing...

You were both right. That's what I thought as soon as I had dismissed having Covid. I slept for three and a half hours and feel fine now. The truth is perhaps that I have had a rough week and done too much. I shall take it easy for the rest of the day. A short walk this afternoon won't harm me. Susan is keeping a close eye on me and is coming round again tomorrow, she has decided I need a new net curtain in the bedroom after putting my duvet covers on yesterday so she's coming round to measure and has told me that she and Mick will put them up. I'm capable but will take any help on offer. Makes me feel old but reality has to be faced! :biggrin2:

Glad your feeling better Stanley. When I hit the wall so to speak a good 12 hours straight sleep is the usual cure. Bed at 9pm get up at 9am, don't have to do that often but when needs must it works.

We had a good walk this morning, sunny but with a pleasant fresh breeze. A detour down to the canal and coffee at the Esse Factory Cafe made it 5.9 miles.

I've seen the pic of Bob's bits Sue and commented in shed matters.
I was in bed and fast asleep at half past eight last night and feel fine this morning. I shall be taking care though.....
Shed beckons today.
I am going to have to start talking to myself now I am not talking to Jack. I shall sing as I do the housework!
You're right Wendy, house cleaning is not the best occupation, that's why I avoid it as much as possible. Susan is coming to supervise ordering a new net curtain for the bedroom and she says she is going to clean the inside of the kitchen window when she comes. I must do it before she gets here. Can't have her falling off the low steps that she will have to climb to get on the worktop! :biggrin2:
Just looked at Colin's map. Next time you do that Wendy call in for your book!

Morning

Glad you are feeling better Stanley. Windy and damp here today, not sure of the forecast yet. I have dance exercise this morning and at 12.30 I have an appointment at the Drs with the nurse for my Shingles vaccination which was due after my 70 th birthday in January. They have not been doing anything routine over the last few months. Other wise not sure of our plans. We don’t want to be in the house when Joanne comes to clean.

We had a lovely meal out yesterday. We found that our local , The Healey , has a lovely open covered area at the back of the pub ( contradictory I know!), surrounded by flowers. Very nice and being Thursday very quiet. It was more Covid secure and we felt happier. The menu was more limited but we still had a good meal. Later I finished off a bit of sewing , cut out my tracksuit top, and carried on with my Christmas card project. More of the latter today I think.

I now have 5 tomatoes ripening well.

Have a good day

You have good friends over there Sue. That's no accident! It has to be worked at.

I've had an hour in the shed (not pushing myself!) and am ready for drilling the castings and installing the studs that hold the caps down. Now for a second walk, breakfast, and a breather before Susan turns up to do her carer bit!
I am very lucky.
