Oh no! Gardening is a dangerous occupation. I hope you recover quickly and get back out there before you lose your nerve. Did you remember what to put on the stings? I always forget whether it's acid or alkaline for wasp stings.

I believe wasp stings are alkaline. Took an anti-histamine tablet and some anti-inflammatory cream, cup of tea and some jam cake. Got called gormless and that more or less wraps up the treatment. Now plotting my revenge. :laser:

That's right Sue, I had a quick Google and it said that wasp stings can take up to 48 hours to reach their worst, if irritation or pain continues you should seek medical advice.

Bad luck - this is good to get your own back. RAID I've used it with total success.

Hard luck Ken, wasps can be dangerous and cause a severe reaction. I once got stung one morning in summer as I set off with the tanker cab window open and by the time I got to Skipton my arm was like a balloon. I went into Skipton hospital (you could do things like that then) and they gave me an anti-histamine injection and told me to go home and sleep. I carried on to Grimsby with the milk. I must be susceptible to them.
Looking forward to the shed and Susan is bringing Kahara up so we can have a short socially distanced walk on the Green at about 9AM. That'll be nice!

Spent the morning cleaning the castle. Then I popped my garden clippers on charge and when they are done I shall get out in this beautiful sunshine and clip a few bushes.

Thank you Sue, I won't forget that now! Vinegar is easy to grab in a hurry, but what do I turn to in the kitchen for a bee sting?

Just been googling and the official line is that none of the home remedies, except perhaps an icepack, have any effect. :laugh5:

Morning

I was taught that little phrase when I did a Red Cross first aid course as a teenager.

Its a still dry morning, luckily the rain is holding off till mid afternoon as today is lunch with Wendy and Keith and will be , once again, outside. The idea of removing restrictions by post code or ward seems to have been forgotten, certainly not mentioned this week. Covid may be high in Greater Manchester but in the Healey , Shawclough ward it is low. I keep my fingers crossed, otherwise I foresee a number of cold weekly lunches with friends in the weeks to come.

Its pilates this morning and yoga this evening. My afternoon will probably consist of finishing my Christmas card project. I only have 6 cards left to do out of the batch of blank cards and envelopes I bought from eBay. I am rather pleased with most of my efforts, especially the ones that have up-cycled my old paintings. Yesterday , in my search for suitable colour combinations for my cards, I completed my tidying up of my art work. An awful lot went in the bin, but I kept a box full as scraps for Eve, Briony and Erin to paint on when they visit, and a box of scraps for future card making. Once my little creative craft work is completed I can put away the paper die cutter, glue etc and return my room to a sewing room.

We have spontaneously booked a couple of nights away next week. Nothing exotic but a trip over to Filey area, working on the assumption that it will be drier on that side of the country. This rain has been really depressing recently. I haven’t been to Filey since I was about 2 so it will be a welcome change and a place to investigate.it will also be our first hotel stay since February. We have picked carefully, fingers crossed.

Oh yes, the dentist has reviewed my problem gum/ sore palate and will see me next week
Have a good day everyone.

Thats the alkali for bee stings. I think it would work for ants too as they release formic acid

Gardening this morning. I have a load of pruning yet to pick up and bin, but I started to get back spasms, so a rest on the bed for half an hour until I can get back to it. Have to be sensible nowadays :biggrin2: .

I always have to be 'sensible' Maz! It's bloody boring.
Kahara and Susan came yesterday but I had fallen asleep in the chair waiting for them so we missed our second walk, just interacted safely in the back yard. First time I have seen him in the flesh since Xmas, and he's coming on all right. Four teeth and on the verge of walking. Lovely.
I shall be in the shed and back in my routine today. All my weekly shopping is done. I don't have to bother about anything except looking after myself. Having said that, I should cook veggies....

Morning

Another wet cold one. I badly need to do some gardening, but it won’t be today. Its all looking a bit tired and bedraggled now, but a bit of pruning back will help. I think my outside vegetables will rot before they produce anything to eat, apart from the few potatoes I have left. The tomatoes in the greenhouse are slowly ripening and last night I counted 15. I have one runner bean, and one summer squash! The courgettes, like me , have given up on the weather .

This morning I have dance exercise, followed by a shower to freshen up afterwards. It is rather energetic. Later Joanne is coming to clean, so we have decided to go to Hebden Bridge to keep out of her way. We can either walk the canal tow path or browse the shops. Its the first outing to a town we have made since all this began,

I finished my Christmas card project, making 60 in total. The room has now been tidied and returned to being a sewing room. I still have my tracksuit top to do and design a pattern for pilates leggings, future wet day activities. Yesterday we had another nice meal out, but it was very cold and damp sat under the outdoor canopy at the pub. I don’t think there will be many more meals out whilst these restrictions remain.

Have a good day everyone .

We met up with friends yesterday morning for a refreshing walk around the Barden reservoirs. Though I love our local walks it's nice to get out somewhere different and at 5.8 miles it's just a nice distance. The weather was kind to us, I'm not sure I'd appreciate being out on the open moorland in wind and rain! We got back just before Becky arrived to pamper the ponies. It's great to have someone to talk horses to, I have missed that.

Is it a mains problem Sue or your domestic system? Sorry to hear that, it's a bummer.

Here's the main business this morning, all my bearings are finished and ready for fitting.

It was mains. Just had a phone call to say now OK. Ours came back on at noon but our neighbours across the road have only just come back on. The bottom of our road has been dug up, lots of vans around.

I have my mobile number, and email address, registered with United Utilities and get text messages and email notifications of any issues in my area. They're fairly prompt when there's a problem.

Yes we got regular phone calls through the day starting with one at 7.45 am when there was a problem identified. It was automatic

The gas board put a sign at the bottom of Wellhouse Street saying Wellhouse road would be closed for a day yesterday. All they did was come and take the signs away. The 'major' works must have been demoted.
Aiming for the shed as usual and bracing walks in the autumnal weather.....
