Nice hair Kev.

Matt and the lads have been today to sort my bathroom roof. They have stripped of the slates and fitted new deeper lead between the main roof and bathroom extension. They have replaced any broken or cracked slates when making good. He said the original lead was only 2" under the overlapping slates, doesn't surprise me, both the kitchen and bathroom extensions which were done at the same time seemed to have been done on a budget and probably by cowboy operators at the time. I had to remove a ring main socket from the bathroom which was installed next to the toilet. We also found out that they blocked of the ventilation to the cellar when they built the kitchen extension.

Did they move the scaffold boards from in front of your satellite dish?

No they are clamped down. Matt says he will get the scaffolders back as soon as he can. We can get most of the stuff we watch on BBC via on demand as the Beeb streams a lot of it's popular programs on the I-Player. ITV don't seem to do live streaming. We have started watching a couple of serials on Netflix and I have far too much stuff recorded on the Humax box so we are not too deprived. :extrawink:

Trumpesque from another post :-
A Trump campaign lawyer admitted before a federal judge on Thursday that observers for the campaign were allowed to watch ballot canvassing in Philadelphia, after they claimed in court and the President's supporters alleged they were being deprived unfairly.

But the federal judge was having none of it, instead asking Philadelphia city officials to confirm Democrats and Republicans were being treated fairly to watch the ballot-counting and that they were allowed to watch the ballot counting in the city from six feet away.

When the judge pressed the Trump campaign lawyer if there were observers in the room from the campaign, the lawyer, Jerome Marcus, said, "There's a non-zero number of people in the room."

Indeed Bodge and there is little doubt that shutting the Democrats out of the vaccine provision process will cost lives. There are some very cynical people in government...

As a former lorry driver Stanley should be interested in this story!..
`On the ground with UK efforts to train drivers for post-Brexit border: At an Ashford lorry park, language barriers and lack of interest and information hamper preparations for Britain’s new frontier' FT
`The frontline of the battle to get Britain ready for its post-Brexit borders runs through a 20ft portable cabin dropped in front of a café at the Ashford international truck stop in Kent. Emblazoned on the outside is the message: “UK’s New Start — Let’s Get Going”. Inside, two cubicles, each with a desk and computer set to the homescreen of the UK government’s transition website, are ready to train willing drivers. For 16 hours a day revolving pairs of agents working under contract for the UK government’s Department for Transport try to catch the attention of truckers as they wander past, eyes red-rimmed with fatigue, bath towel or box of takeaway food in hand. It is hard going. In the two hours that the Financial Times was watching on Monday afternoon no one could be coaxed inside, despite enthusiastic efforts from the staff...'.

The BBC news story about the potential relaxation of restrictions over the Christmas period, I think they only do it to stir up the masses.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-54984297
Quoting the Sun newspaper as a source is laughable.

I can almost predict the headlines, and the social media outcry at their choice.
If the government continues restrictions over Christmas people will just ignore them, the infection rate will go up in the middle of January. That'll be the government's fault as lockdown isn't working.

The government relaxes restrictions over Christmas, allowing families to meet up, the infection rate goes up in the middle of January. It's the government's fault for relaxing restrictions.
Damned if you do, damned if you don't...

Luckily I am Xmas proof and these matters have no interest at all for me. I shall simply avoid everyone as usual.
I notice that if I am meeting someone on the narrow footpath across the Green it's always me that steps off to windward.... It seems to me that far too many people are not 'virus aware'.
No action on car park lights....

I've just looked on the LCC 'fault status' page

https://www.lancashire.gov.uk/roads-par ... 007,447115

and it says -

Fault reference: W535936
Reported: 14/11/2020
Lamp out
Status: No action will be taken, as this is not the responsibility of Lancashire County Council.

Is it the responsibility of the Coop then or maybe Pendle Council?

The response I have is...

New LED lights ordered and work due to take place on 26th November (contractor booked up until them with other jobs).

Strange going ons outside our house this afternoon.Police taking pictures of cars coming up the lane with a further four offices stopping all cars and taking details from the drives. No idea what it was all about but made an interesting distraction from covid.

Portable speed camera I reckon...

I so they've had a good day. Every car coming up the lane was stopped and details taken. Normally they have a van strategically placed just to catch you at a point where the road levels off after a rise and its easy to drift over the limit. Sneaky, but a lot do go far too fast on this stretch.

So glad I don't drive these days....
Yes Peter, sorry, I did see it and reflected that it wouldn't have been my priority either. Is the place where drivers get rest the best place to be oining them?
The lights, yes the lady told me that they had the contractors booked and yes they are a Pendle responsibility. And no, she didn't know why they weren't on their automated reporting system which means that you can't report them under street lighting. She reckons this is why they have not been looked at for so long. She said the contractors were due the day I spoke to her and she would give them my report immediately as they had no information how many or which lights were lit. I hope they picked up my later report that the remaining lamp is only on intermittently and flickers when it is on.

Plaques, if they are stopping all the vehicles it could be to check why they are out and about during lockdown perhaps?

See THIS. Trump still claiming he won the US presidential election. Over here Johnson saying he has confidence in his Home Secretary with senior civil servants resigning in protest. Is there something about reality I have missed?

I watched it last night. I thought the men in white coats are going to appear at any minute. My experience of people who start talking like this is that its usually followed by them disappearing for a couple of months under care.
