Morning
A night out Kev, how wonderful. I can’t remember when we last had a night out, I think it was my 70 th birthday treat way back in February
Well its another wet day forecast. Yesterday turned out drier than expected with occasional sun but not dry enough to go walking. We got all our parcels wrapped and decided that two posting days were required, so we shall send some today and the others on Friday. It looked like Christmas on our dining room table wit a pile of parcels . Bob also had one to send by DPD, something he sold on eBay so he took that down to a shop to send. Whilst there he tried to buy some new satin finish varnish but B&M did not have any. They did however have broad bean seeds for planting in November, so when we do our post office trip I will slip in and get a packet. One thing with all the rain it keeps people away from the shops. I shall plant the seeds in my large tubs that I have just emptied of runner beans. It won’t be a big crop but worth a try. I so muss my french veggie garden. I did sew as planned later but did not do the top coat of varnish on the table , the first coat does not seem to be gardening very well, we think it may because it is an old tin of varnish.
So today will be post office, buy and plant seeds and more sewing. Its the double pilates and yoga this evening. My one to one session at the studio was cancelled as Taira is waiting delivery of a dish washer that should have come yesterday but didn’t. She offered me a shared lesson with two others but I declined and said I would wait till next week and a one to one session. Otherwise today I will take it as it comes
Oh yes I ordered some black jeans from Sainsbury in the style I like. Normally I love their clothes, good fit and a reasonable price. When I opened the package the jeans were filthy. They looked like they had been dragged round the floor of the warehouse and also run over. They were just shoved in the bag not even folded nicely. I sent a photo to customer service but after having one email returned as unknown email I got an automatic reply to say they only dealt with phone queries. Not easy to send a photo there. I was so disgusted I put them straight back in the bag and washed my hands thoroughly. I could not possibly try them on, I didn’t even like touching them. So today I have a phone call to make .
Have a good day all

I was mistaken Kev, never been there.
All my good intentions about going in the shed before shopping got booted into touch. I have done all the shopping I need at the Co-op so that means I don't have to wait for Town Square shops to open, can get my second walk in while it's dry and have my breakfast earlier. So I didn't bother with the shed, I'm not on piece work.
So very shortly I will go for a short walk and then OD on bacon and egg before going back to bed for second sleep!
It's nice being old sometimes!

We decided to treat ourselves to a couple of nights away. The hotel is at 50% occupancy and the entertainment venues have been spread out over different rooms. When the resident band first started playing we were the only two in the Great Hall listening to them, this did increase to around a dozen when they started their second set.
This evening there is a visiting 'turn', a tribute act performing the music of 'Boe and Ball'.
Everything is very well organised, staff are constantly cleaning (small signs are put on tables that have been cleaned). We have pre booked meal times and are taken to our table via a one way system in the restaurant, everyone has to wear a face covering until seated in the restaurant and entertainment venues. Face coverings are mandatory in all other public areas, it all feels very 'safe'. We had a similar break back in August, at one of their other hotels, same rules applied then but with lots of the live music performed outside.
People need live music (we do anyway).

It's part of the Warner Lesuire Hotel group, the main building is stunning and there are some nice walks around Thoresby Park.
The Manvers family, who owned the place, have links to Cliff Castle, in Keighley.

I think we used to go to Clumber Park as well. I have memories of a dangerous long straight road with lots of dips and blind crests, is that the road we would take to Thoresby from Leeds?

The A614 from the A1 towards Ollerton, past the entrance to the Clumber Park Estate, is like that. If I remember, when I get back, I'll get some footage off the dashcam. See if it looks familiar.

We are talking nearly 60 years ago! I think it was one of those roads with three lanes, before someone thought of double white lines.

The A614 is certainly wide enough to have been 3 lanes ('suicide' lane in the middle) and there are a lot of dips and blind summits on the run up to one of the major Clumber Park entrances.

A tribute to the music of Michael Ball and Alfie Boe this evening, a really good show. Back to reality and rain tomorrow.

Morning
Beautiful morning, not sure if it will last. The forecast yesterday said it would rain. Yesterday was busy. We did our trip to the post office and B&M. I was the only one in the post office and not many in B&M. Later I sanded the pine table and applied two coats of satin varnish, the result is very pleasing indeed. We can now return the conservatory to some degree of order, but it is certainly too cold to breakfast out there now even with the heaters on . I also did my newest art project. In this case a pencil drawing of AFTERNOON TEA, and completed the afternoon with a little more Christmas sewing. Pilates and yoga finished the day, literally. I fell asleep in the relaxation session at the end, much to the amusement of everyone in the yoga studio who were sitting waiting for me to wake so Taira could finish the class. Eventually Taira asked me if i was OK. She said she didn’t want to leave me just lying on my lounge floor . I often doze but this was full blown sleep
This morning I have my one to one session at the studio, Taira could do it today instead of next week. We are out at lunchtime for our weekly social event ie lunch in the pub on the moors above Todmorden, its normally very quiet and our friends, Wendy and Keith sit on the next table, so we can chat. However this week is half term so I hope it is not busy. It will be late afternoon when we get back, so there won’t be much done in the way of sewing because the light will be going. Pilates is late at 8.00pm.
Thats my day, enjoy yours

Worry not Sue. I have always said I could fall asleep on a barbed wire fence in a thunderstorm. ( unless I am in pain of course)

If I was to do one of those relaxation classes I would definitely fall asleep. That's how I send myself to sleep at any time of the day. I learned that when I was driving, those short spells of sleep count and don't let anyone tell you any differently.
We've had two spells of rain already this morning Sue. It's dry at the moment so I am going to get out and have second walk!

Same with me Stanley. Shift work took its toll, but I could still park early at the school for my son and grab another 10 mins! Felt great after a wee nap.

....though don’t get me wrong...surviving for years on 10 min naps is not a good thing, and can have harmful effects on your long term health...I think it is ok if it is “extra” sleep, but when these 10 minute grabs are part of your “overall” sleep, your health does suffer.
I did what I had to do at the time. Now I need a full nights sleep. Some nights I can be asleep within minutes of getting into bed. Hubby lays awake and watches TV in the bedroom after we get in to bed...but I am quickly asleep and not much company.
I am gone!
