The shed will miss this morning, I have been busy tidying up after yesterdays upheaval in the bedroom. Little things like dealing with the fallout of castors and bits of wood, vacuuming downstairs and emptying and cleaning the vacuum. This has bitten into shed time so much I have decided to do some cooking of veggies as well.

Son is visiting and gave me this lovely photo of his (deceased) dog. I love it.

Morning
Another damp start, and with bedding to change and wash it will be the drier again. There is the ironing to do and then like most days recently I shall probably sew . I am working through my list of Christmas projects. My morning yoga is cancelled as Mandy is doing an online course on teaching yoga.
Yesterday turned out good so in the afternoon we went for a 2 hour walk avoiding as many people as possible. In fact apart from a couple of dog walkers we met no one. We set off on the main road rather than through the Dell and then after a mile at Broadley we cut up on to the moors through Prickshaw hamlet and over to Rooley moor. There the scenery was stunning but the paths were awash. The VICAR OF DIBLEY. Came to mind a few times when she stepped in a puddle right up to her middle. Our options were to walk through , fingers crossed, or sink in the mud. We walked down Rooley Moor road and back up the public footpath path at Turner brothers , the path being worse than on the moors as silt and mud had washed into the dips.
In the evening we had another good wine appreciation session by zoom and lead by Jane , and I had a very long chat with Briony on Whats App. She was quite back to her old self with non stop chat.
Walking down Rooley Moor I knocked on to my sewing teacher, Maxine’s door, and had a nice long socially distanced chat from the bottom of the drive. She has never come out of shielding as she has a deficient immune system. However all is well. She was telling me she did a fitting of a dress by zoom which will now be posted to her for alterations. Unfortunately the dress is for a wedding that was booked over 18 months ago and has slowly got smaller from 150 down to 10 and now looks like it may have to be cancelled depending on when tier 4 is lifted.
Have a good day all

It was a bit damp here too yesterday, we turned back at Old Stone Trough Brow as we only had lightweight walking boots on. It was worth it for the fresh air though.

Absolutely worth it for the fresh air, and even blue skies

I missed my afternoon walk but made up for it by all the exercise I got round disposing of the old divan base.
I shall be aiming at some shed but also having a relatively easy day after yesterday!

Morning
Another wet day. However I must make a trip over to the pharmacist near the Doctors to collect our prescriptions. I will probably drive over but it depends how heavy the rain is after lunch. I have pilates this morning . Other than that I will probably sew I have a few more Christmas coasters to make. Then for a change I think its time I did the next chapter of my archeology course.
Yesterday was busy. The washing and ironing took some time as duvet covers are so cumbersome to dry in the drier. The rain was horrendous at times and was bouncing on the conservatory making quite a noise. It was also dark all day such that I had to have the light on in my sewing room from 11. 00 am . I managed one very complicated coaster and another simpler one and then spent an hour on the phone to Sainsbury Customer Service. I received my money back yesterday for the filthy jeans they sent me and they had retained £3.50 for postage. I was fuming . First they send me dirty jeans, then their customer service email address provided is no longer used, then when I send them back with a letter of complaint it appears to gave been ignored and I get charged for posting them back, and their telephone complaints system is non existant . It was 45 minutes and 28 recorded messages before I got through to anyone. The poor man really got the full force of my anger. However he has taken it up personally asking me to forward a copy to him personally of my complaints letters emails and photograph. Which I did. He refunded my postage and offered me a free delivery note for my next order. I declined and said there wouldn’t be a next order until Sainsbury sorts out their complaints procedure. Watch this space for updates !

My word Sue! I'm glad I wasn't on the receiving end of that! You are totally justified of course and bad service should be punished.
I haven't been in the shed, like you I don't appreciate these gloomy days, they depress me and today is another of them hopefully it will be brighter tomorrow. So I never even tried for the shed, I shall have an easy day, I'm having my breakfast now and then will go for second sleep.
I have just had my second walk in the rain... what grabbed my attention was a large trailer in the Pioneer Car Park. It was only when I got closer to it that I realised it was a load of Xmas trees and the man is obviously going to try to sell them. I wish him luck but just at the moment I doubt if a Xmas Tree is at the top of anyone's list!

Are they definitely for sale or are they the trees for the shop fronts?

Ah, that's a good point Kev. Ian says the marquee in the corner is for Xmas Lights.
Going back to bed for second sleep worked, the sun was shining when I re-entered the world!

I posted in What Attracted regarding the arrangements for Remembrance Sunday this year. All online via the TC's YouTube Channel.
Today I will be mainly starting the Remembrance Cross distribution down at Gill Churchyard and Cemetery.

Good man Ian...
I will be looking for my mojo in the shed! I missed yesterday, didn't feel like doing anything. Too much divan activity and heavy rain! It's bad for me. (And I am enjoying my bed so much!)

Morning
Well yesterday turned out better than expected. The sun came out mid morning and the rain did not return till late afternoon. It was not particularly sunny in the afternoon but certainly dry enough to walk over to the pharmacist to pick up our prescriptions and do the usual loop up Rooley Moor and drop down to the old railway footpath through the dell. The dell was nearly deserted so we did a loop by the waterfalls that were absolutely stunning . It was nearly 6 mikes the round trip and most pf the afternoon was gone by the time we got back . I just managed to make one more Christmas coaster before the light failed completely

This morning Bob is out doing a hydraulic pressure test for one of the model engineers , down at the track in Springfield Park . I shall do a bit more Christmas sewing, then do something else, not sure what yet. Its pilates and yoga this evening .
Have a good day everyone
The following photos are for you Stanley, the footpath through Turners .

Through Turners . It is actually a very attractive walk through the trees but the old buildings and fence are an eyesore. Its along the old road called Woodland Road which connects with Dell road leading down to the old wartime Ordinance factories

Is Turner's the asbestos people? (apologies if I've missed an explanation elsewhere).
There used to be a factory near where I lived in Erith, Kent called Turner's Asbestos Cement. They built houses on the site and there was talk of people digging up bits of asbestos when gardening.

Yes Kev, Turner's HQ. When they closed the site was going to be developed as housing and the developer produced test results that 'proved' it was safe but further investigation proved it wasn't and the development never happened.

Exactly Stanley. They wanted to build 600 houses. Next suggestion was a country park! The best they can manage is this scenic foot path through. Its a shame they cannot fine away to extend it into the Dell. What we could really do with is a ring road round from this side of Rochdale to that side. It would reduce the road congestion into the centre and out again. The roads are already there but it would mean massive excavations to make them bigger, and the soil would all have to be cleaned or replaced. It will never happen. Periodically youths break in and set the whole place on fire so now there is a lonely security guard at the road entrance to the works.apart from the factory and railings it is really quite a pretty spot, with the river Spod running through and as the name implies full of trees.

Thanks Maz. The dell is very pretty and absolutely steeped in history going back to the Norman invasion and beyond. The walk to the waterfalls is scenic along the old railway, now a bridle way and footpath, and it all only across the road from us, just under a mile to the waterfalls . They are always a picture when it has rained but these are exceptional as it has been torrential rain regularly over the last fortnight. There was more last night. The falls will be even bigger tomorrow

I keep meaning to take pics of our walks. We have 4 regular ones, then there are the beach walks, then we have our cliff top walks in warm weather. We haven’t done our cliff top walks yet this season ( they are a bit brutal in the Winter)
