Well, it wasn't snowing 44 years ago as it is today up here. It was dry but it was very cold. December 4th 1976 and we had had a hard frost for the best part of two weeks. Everything was covered and you could see your breath in the church when we got wed, despite the new vicar having the heating on for a week!
Quite right Peter. Exactly what I keep pointing out. Thankfully there are signs that people are waking up a bit thanks to some good work being done. Now we need to act on it.
The barometer as it plunged to a new low for the year. I kept checking it and as I suspected below 980 my barometer starts to get a bit pessimistic but even at the bottom yesterday it was only exaggerating by about 8mb. We are still under a very intensive low pressure system.

I can't remeber who told me or where I read it but I believe Briggs & Duxbury are closing the business. The word is that it has been sold to Merrit and Fryers who of course run a similar business in Skipton.
I think I must be becoming Scrooge. I see nothing remotely funny in that at all. I think it's the long nights and the short dark days. Seasonal Affected Disorder has much to answer for!
What did get my attention was a pic of my nephew on a coast walk yesterday in the west country under blue skies and in short sleeves.

Wikimedia were asking for donations this morning. It seemed perfectly reasonable for them to do so. I chucked a one time donation of a tenner at them. I did the same last year, it means I have a clear conscience.
I have no such qualms with something like Google, they are getting their money out of me in other ways but Wiki don't continually bomb me with advertisements.

I think the National Trust's reaction is admirable. Low key and sensible. It's obviously a construction like an art installation and as long as it causes no harm I'm all in favour.
As for the fire in the market at Rostov on Don. I can't think of anything much more dangerous than an outdoor fireworks market with smokers walking past!
Otherwise the same thing that gets my attention every time I walk past Cravenside Care Home on the Green. People 'visiting' relatives inside the home by talking to them through the windows in all weathers. It's medieval and surely at least we could afford some small shelters outside the windows to give the visitors some protection from the rain and wind?

A nice lady has just taken the trouble to call me and tell me she is cutting my internet access off.
I hope she has a very bad day.
That was nice of her, I trust you asked her 'what's this internet thing?'
I never enter into conversation with them Kev. I just hang up.
Very few things really wind me up these days but this sort of scam based on fear hits the button. Imagine the number of people who will fall for this because internet access is so important to them.
I hope they get what they richly deserve...
Later, I notice the 3 way traffic lights have been taken away.

That's why I use the call screening facility that comes with my phone package, not had a 'cold call' for a few years now.
Normally I don't answer the phone Kev but the mistake I made was to answer it because I thought it might be about vaccination. She rang me again this morning to warn me again.
