Beautiful rose Maz, what a wonderful flower.

Morning

Well today is the day, 6 months after our ‘escape’ from France for severe tooth ache I have my appointment for a root filling. The dentist phoned me at 9.30 am and I think it was the same one I spoke to in May. We had laid it on pretty thick about the way I had been treated over the months when we spoke to the receptionist last week so I think he was all prepared to just offer me an appointment. He had not received the letters from the two hospital consultants, but they could be sitting in my dentists intray waiting for her return after self isolation. Anyway I emailed them to him plus a photo of the xray they took. The outcome of our conversation was an appointment at 11.00 am this morning. Not looking forward to it but glad to get it over with. So thats my morning. This afternoon will depend on the weather and how I feel. Apparently it can be quite painful afterwards but not always. We shall see.

Yesterday was not nice, the morning was damp and cold and in the afternoon we sat in a cloud and then fog. Bob pruned a couple of bushes, I did my archaeology assessment and then sewed. Thats my third assessment finished. I am beginning to get a feel for it now and looking forward to the next chapter. This evening I have an extra pilates class, one of the extra ones being put on for lockdown. It involves a rather large stability ball. I bought mine from the studio on Wednesday, we had fun getting it in the back of the convertible car and even more fun getting it in the hall cupboard where it will now reside when not in use. We are having a take away for tea after my class.

Have as good a day as you can everyone, back to lockdown mode, be positive, keep busy, stay cheerful.

I do hope you get a result this morning Sue and that once the filling has settled down, you finally get rid of the pain. You remind me once more of how lucky I have been with my dental history. The older I get the more aware that we never know what's waiting round the corner, anything from an infected tooth to cancer and everything in between. There again we need luck!
(I often think of Napoleon who was considering a candidate for leadership of one of his armies. His aides gave him all the information available about his career and character. Napoleon listened to them and when they finished said "Yes, but is he lucky?")

All done. The dentist didn’t see any reason why it wouldn’t work, although it is possible that I may need a crown but he will monitor it .

Morning all

Beautiful day yesterday, and more today I hope. My trip to the dentist more or less filled the morning as it was sometime before I could eat or drink so we had a late lunch. As the injection wore off the tooth was tender but I took paracetamol and ate carefully. All seems ok this morning. I have to continue with the salt mouth washes till the abscess goes which it should in a few days 🤞. We didn’t go walking but spent some time in the conservatory enjoying the sun and the antics of the birds. Later I did the next chapter and assessment of my archaeology course.

This morning is Bacup market, then I must whats app Eve. I feel awful that I forgot last night and missed my weekly cookery lesson. I had actually forgotten it was Friday and we ate late because of my tooth . I sent my hugs when Julia reminded me but shall give her lots of time this morning and Briony this afternoon. Otherwise no plans for the day. If it remains dry and sunny I may prune back my roses and finish my autumn garden clear out.

Its my sisters 60 th today so her daughter, Emma , has arranged a surprise family zoom HAPPY BIRTHDAY at 7.00 pm, it was to be a quiz, but Emma thinks Jane may have had a little too much celebration in the afternoon. 🍷🍰. I know Jane was feeling a little down about lockdown and cancelled birthday events, this one and the big do last May , so hopefully this will cheer her up .

Have a good day all

Today I washed my car. It was a bit brown from the sheep muck on the track and largely a mossy green colour. Now its bright shiny red again!!

Morning

Lets hope this morning is the start of a new and better era in world issues. My school friend in America is expecting a stormy ride over the next few weeks but is hopeful it will die a death quickly . My sister announced the election result to be one of her best birthday presents. Talking of Jane I think Emma gave her an amazing day and our zoom meeting went well. After about 15 minutes we left her to chat to her friends.

The rest of the day was rather active, there was washing done which dried outside, a lot of garden tidying and in the afternoon a long walk. I also whats apped both Eve and Briony throughout the day . We did one of our regular walks up to Lobden in Whitworth but did it is reverse. It was chilly by 2.30 pm but also busy. Lots of couples and dig walkers out but sufficiently spaced not to be a problem.at Lobden, itself, I have never seen so many cars parked. Its getting difficult to find lonely local walks now. These are places we have walked for years and hardly seen a soul. The country seems to be coming a nation of walkers. Up on the tops there was a strange phenomenon. There were banks of thick white mist rolling downwards over the hills, seemingly coming from the sky, and sitting above these were the tops pf the windmills and the low sun shining on them. I tried to take a photo but they look quite ordinary. Bob got a couple of good ones.

Today is Tesco delivery fairly early then yoga. This will be followed by a nice long bath, pedicure and manicure. Got to keep up the standards 😂. I shall then continue with my Christmas sewing, the end is in sight. I must also do an outline drawing for a watercolour workshop with Jeremy Ford later this week. Its all go here in Rochdale Lockdown !

Have a good day all, think positive, keep busy and more important stay cheerful

I did quite a bit of gardening, but kept getting more and more warm, shedding layers as I went along. In the end I decided I either had to give it away, or change into shorts. My electric (battery charged) shears finally went flat, so I picked up the clippings and called it a day. I think I got my Vitamin D for today.
T-shirt and shorts tomorrow!

More gardening this morning. Dave was going to join me, but he must have found something more interesting to do on his computer. It was warm but still and slightly overcast this morning, so I do as much gardening as I can on days like this when it is not so bad for the hay fever.
Might cut my first harvest of Rhubarb later...

Morning

Not much to report from yesterday, there was a lot of sitting, a bit of sewing and a bit of ironing. No drawing was done , I must do it today.

Today I shall and be a little more active. I have a parcel to return via the Hermes shop , so at sometime this afternoon we will take ourselves off for a walk and pass the shop in the process. I am not having much success with new jeans. First pair dirty ( still waiting for an apology from Sainsbury) second pair good fit but way too long and too wide at the bottom, ( being returned today) , third pair sent for 🤞. This morning will be pilates then I will do my drawing for my art workshop on Wednesday. I have three more Christmas coasters to do but will not get them all done, on an average of two hours each from start to finish , it will be another couple of sewing sessions yet.

So thats my day, have a good one, think positive, keep busy, stay cheerful

Good part of the morning wasted trying to understand the engineers explanation of why our new Indesit tumble dryer wasn't drying without multiple cycles. He arrived early and ran through his operation checks to declare everything to manufacturing spec.
Me, Yes but its running too cool to dry things and we have followed the instructions to the letter. For extra drying set to no 4.
Answer. This only means extra time it actually reduces the temperature on this cycle. ie: a longer cooler cycle.
Me, Press this button for a cooler cycle so we tend to leave it off.
Answer. if no lights show its already off therefore cooler. switch it on, green light, and its hotter.
Me, but both these are the reverse of the instructions.
Answer, True, I think when the instructions were translated they got it mixed up and don't give any meaningful instructions on how to use it.

A very helpful engineer who explained everything we asked. The best part No Charge.

Back to something useful.... collecting leaves.

Today I shall be in the shed. I was going to start on cylinder building but the end mills arrived following my request to John and Mick for help so I'll sharpen them first.

Morning

Yesterday, all tasks were completed😊. I managed a little washing that nearly completely dried outside. We went for a short round trip walk about 2.5 miles, posting my parcel at the Hermes shop , did a little sewing and did my outline drawing for my art workshop tomorrow.

The saga of my dirty jeans was concluded with an eventual apology from the warehouse, though not direct to me but through the customer services person , David, who has approached them on behalf. They claim never to have seen my photo or letter of complaint. In a final comment to David I pointed out they must have seen it, ignored it or cast it too e side as it was stapled to my returns note that was underneath the letter. Ah well, what can I say!

We spent some of the day watching the antics of a squirrel in the garden as it tried to reach the bird feeder. It tried several methods from leaping from a flower pot, successfully till I moved it, leaping from the wooden arch, also successful but I think it was frightened by the jump, and finally leaping on to to the squirrel deterrent dome from the wall of the pond . This was the favourite and fasted method and was repeated several times. That is until it slipped off the dome into the pond. Then I was worried and was all set for a rescue when we saw a very wet squirrel climbing the wooden arch before shaking itself dry and disappearing up the trees beyond the garden .

In the evening I completed a free learn to study course that came with my genealogy course. I didn’t need to do it but thought I would, something to do and it tidied up my course information, as removing it as COMPLETED. It was just like reading my years tutorial notes for my students, when I worked. Annoyingly I got two multiple choice questions wrong. I knew the answers but always battle with reverse negative questioning . I must have odd logic, because I always reason it out the wrong way !

So that brings me to today. Nothing much planned. I shall finish sewing my two remaining coasters, then see what the day brings. Its the double pilates and yoga tonight

Have a good day, think positive, keep busy and stay cheerful, the first week nearly over.

Morning Sue. those squirrels are as good as a floor show!
I spent about and hour and a half in the shed but once more avoided the drilling and tapping of the cylinder! (For totally legitimate reasons!) The end mills and slot drills that Mick and John sent me arrived yesterday so I completely refurbished them and some others. Tomorrow I will have to get down to proper engineering.....

We were enchanted by a lizard making it’s way past our lounge room windows ( didn’t think to take a photo at that point). It was moving reasonably quickly, as it was 30C+ today and they move quick enough when warm.
I knew it was headed toward a dead end and thought it would soon be on its way back ( I would take a photo). Back it came, but it went through a gap in the fence to our neighbours ( which worried me because they have a dog, not that I was worried for the dog, I was worried for the lizard). Managed to poke my IPad over the fence and captured it behind neighbour’s pot plant.... but it had disappeared completely 5 mins later. I think the reptile was “looking for love” given that it is Spring and was a warm day. We hope he comes back to the safety of our garden. He is welcome here.
