Census eh! I shall fill it in.
What surprised me yesterday was the fact that we had thick mist at dinnertime when I went for my walk, you couldn't see as far as Rainhall.

Coincidently or is it because I have just posted a picture of the broken clock in the local photography facebook page in the time related challenge for the week. I titled it #awasteoftime.

That is good news Kev. The clock on the bus shelter has never been any good. Let's hope they get it right this time!
Clocks change on Sunday 28th of March.

In the absence of any real entertainment, Traffic lights come to mind, although I have seen people gathering to watch the pelican crossing lights change. Walking round the clock trying to guess the correct time should bring in some tourism. Some enterprising entrepreneur may even develop a weekly lottery that could go to good causes.

Was torn between here or Banks out to get you thread, I reckon here will do. Natwest have a new saver account paying 3%, there are limitations though.
You need to be a Natwest current account holder.
You can pay up to a maximum of £50 a month into the account by standing order.
The 3% will only be payable on balances up to £1000.
If you open it before the end of March, and pay in a minimum of £1 in April, May and June you have 10 chances of winning £1000.
3% on £1k is a lot better than the 0.01% on the rest of their savings options.

Wait until you get negative interest rates like they have in some parts of the eurozone! Although I suppose it is the same as paying bank fees for the safe custody of your money.

I'm lucky enough to get 3% interest rise on my pension every year. I'll be a long time before deals like that are available again.
Love the floating ship.

I was amused to hear the `floating ship' story on this morning's Today programme when it was on the BBC's own web site and then OGFB yesterday morning. And Today didn't add anything that wasn't on the web site!
China, British banks don't want negative interest rates. They worry people will just shift their money elsewhere, into even more property or into cryptocurrency or into new types of online financial businesses (fintech, as they're now known).

Peter, have a look at the article in PE this week on the savage cuts in BBC News and you'll realise why they trail a day behind the web site as the interns check the internet for click bait instead of having genuine hacks out there looking for news.
There was a good interview on R4 yesterday with a lady who knew a thing or two about interest rates and her verdict on the 3% savings accounts was that they were a come on in the effort to get customers to switch banks and were not worth any serious notice as they are all limited in some way.
All the pics in the link are powerful but yes, the picture of that young lass is particularly poignant when you know the outcome. We live in a cruel world.....

The high interest accounts with lots of restrictions is a trick that's been going on for some years now to draw folk in but at least it helps youngsters starting out with little money to save.

Nice pup Peter. Today it's a hell of a responsibility taking a dog on....
The young savers, a lot of the trick accounts need you to hold a current account already and a minimum of £1,000 in it. Not much use to starter savers.....

They've called it Summer, Cathy. It has his two young daughters to play with! At the same time as the nephew got the puppy the niece couldn't resist getting one from the same brood. That one is called Marley and has her three children to play with.
I've just seen a woman go past our house walking a very small dog on a very long lead. The poor thing is so small and with such tiny legs it can hardly keep up with a human walking at normal pace. It could almost be mistaken for guinea pig!

Good names for the pups. Marley is a popular name for dogs at the moment.
