Yesterday I took our recycling down to Sainsbury's and got rid of everything but cardboard and paper, then filled up my car with diesel. Stupid really but it's ages since I did that myself as Col normally does that job. After mucking out the stables I took a trip to Carr Billingtons at Skipton Auction Mart to buy hen feed, another task I have had taken out of my hands since Col retired! Horse feed comes in 20kg bags which are ok for females to lift, but hen feed is in more manly 25kg bags which border on being too heavy for a small 70 year old, but they were no problem for the nice lady in the store to lift into the car, and I coped ok at this end. A pile of ironing done after lunch despite feline interference, then it was time to retrieve cold and wet ponies from the field, bring logs in and light the fire. Col made the tea  and in the evening I baked some low carb, melt in the mouth, almond flour biscuits. Got to find tempting things to fatten the old man up!
I'm actually enjoying getting back many of the responsibilities Col has taken over since he retired, except for cooking of course. :laugh5:
This all sounds promising for Col. I know what you mean about jobs......๐Ÿ˜Š

We just enjoyed ONE Lindt chocolate bauble each. Feel a bit sick now. Wish I hadnโ€™t bothered. First chocolate I have had for a year, I reckon.

The view from my windscreen, potentially the waterpump has failed. It'll be under warranty as it was only replaced in February when the cambelt was changed.

My car is on the drive, youngest son and his wife to be delivered his car at 10pm last night (a 60 mile round trip from Harrogate) and the garage replied to my WhatsApp message and are going to look at mine as soon as they're open, the presumption is Tuesday.
I have wheels so can pick up today's dinner, from the Barlick Raj, and get to Wetherby for the wedding on Sunday. Christmas is saved :-)

Morning
Oh Kev. Good start to the weekend๐Ÿ™, reminds me of the time the cooker died on Christmas Day just as the turkey went in. We were rescued as we had a small oven in the loft we used to use in the cottage in Wales the turkey JUST fitted. It was my Mums and Dads last Christmas together, 1999 I think

Merry Christmas everyone, have a good day. We are going to Claires later for a few hours

Merry Xmas everyone! Its a very quiet one for us this year. I was hoping Craig might pop up for a quick outdoor cuppa and piece of cake but he is full of cold. No turkey for us this year, I've got a chicken to roast but we will have it at tea time and our traditional prawn cocktail starter for lunch. I picked sprouts from the garden yesterday, they have done really well this year we have been eating them for a couple of months now.
It was too cold out for Col to have a walk yesterday, his hands get too painful even with thick gloves and hand warmers. I had a brisk 4 miler before lunch with the intention of collecting eggs on my way! My girls aren't laying but luckily there are a few roadside egg sales on our walking routes and I managed to collect a dozen. Although most of the day was glorious, i chose to go out when it was snowing!
A late trip to Colne to pick up a prescription for Col meant getting the ponies in by 3pm, they were enjoying the last of the sun warming themselves against the wall and weren't ready to come in!
We had a relaxing evening in front of the fire watching a recorded Eagles concert from 2018 which was pleasant but surprisingly boring. :laugh5:

A bit warmer in California if you pick the right bit. While talking music can anyone remember a song a woman sang accompanied with Jools Holland on the piano. It was quite popular for a few weeks, old style song but not blues or jazz, must be 2 or 3 years ago now.??
May get round to scratching around in the garden snowdrops and daffodils are starting to show. There's life after covid after all. :biggrin2:

So do I Maz, and I joined in every song, it just seemed a bit flat. Too perfect perhaps, except for Joe Walsh who added a touch of excitement.

We saw the Eagles live in Manchester. It was a birthday present for me one year. Good seats up in the gods overlooking the stage. Middle of the row 30 or so to the left, 30 or so to the right. Belting concert. It was warm but we had plenty of water etc, just as they struck up with the final number Hotel California, Sally decided to faint! Word was passed along to the stewards and when she came round we shuffled our way past the top row where there was a wheelchair and medic waiting. Down the service lift into the medical room until she had been checked and was fully recovered. We were tipped out just as the final bars of the classic and encore were played.

I shall be extremely boring and make my eccentric strap the right size. (That involves boring it out. Geddit?)
I have an idea the weather will have an effect on exercise!

We went for a 3 hour (arduous) walk. Drove to the Mount Lofty Botanic Gardens, set on hillsides and gullies. A stunning and magical place, but we only managed a quarter of the entire set up. No cafe there, so I packed Cheese and Pickle Rolls and a bottle of water each. We had lunch beside a lake and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. 29C here today, so slathered ourselves in sunscreen and took shady hats.

I've had my short walk and it is horrible out there. Heavy rain, gale forces wind and very cold. Strong forecasts of snow for tomorrow. So no long walks in 30C here Maz.

Morning

That looks a beautiful place Maz, beautiful day too

It was bitterly cold here yesterday, about -2.5C when we left to go to Claires. It was slightly warmer there but still hovering around zero, and a bitterly cold wind. We did go for a short walk before we ate to give Erin a go on her bike but the cold didnโ€™t enthuse any one much. It did however liven her up so she and I sat and did a lego kit whilst Bob, Claire and Adam prepared the meal. We ate about 3.00 pm, sitting and chatting at the table till well after 5.00 pm whilst Erin played with various things, or sat stroking the cat. It was a very pleasant afternoon. We were home for 6.15 pm , when we finished opening our presents.

Today is not a good forecast , gales being expected. I shall continue with my jacket and Bob intends decorating I think. I shall also get our jigsaw board out. We have a couple of jigsaws to do.

Hope everyone had a good day

Weather report tonight said the temperature actually got up to 35C. No wonder we struggled on some of the uphill walks and stone steps that went up and up!
I feel for you lot in the miserable cold. I truly do.
We donโ€™t have anything planned for tomorrow yet. Depends on the weather! :laugh5:
Sunset 8.35pm tonight....( that will be 9pm next month)

I've had a good morning, two short walks already and two hours in the shed.

Nice morning, we have an eccentric strap that fits, it's too tight but that's how it should be and will be cured later when I do some final fitting. The point is that I must have got my measurements and cutting right.
Now I shall finish my breakfast and go back to bed for second sleep. I hope the rest of you have as good a day. I am quietly pleased with the day so far....
It's not as bad as that Maz, we're used to a bit of rough weather. The wind hasn't really got going yet.

I couldn't survive in those temperatures Maz! Give me the cold any day, but perhaps not so much wet and windy.
We enjoyed a pleasant day yesterday, Col got out for two walks and ate reasonably well. We have had our walk this morning and I've put the ponies out for a couple of hours to stretch their legs. After my coffee I'll get the stables done so I can bring them in before it gets too nasty out there.

You remember Eve bakes on a Friday evening when I whats app her. Well for my Christmas present from her, she has sent me a kit of ingredients so we can bake some cookies together this afternoon. Lovely idea. I am impressed. All weighed out in a jar, I just have to provide egg and butter that would not travel in the post

I shall be in the shed of course. I got my three walks in yesterday and only one of them wet but we are treated to something I have never seen before, 4 yellow warnings from the Met Office. We can look forwards to wind rain ice and snow today. So the other occupation will be dodging the weather!
