Morning

Yet another dark misty day, and fain forecast all day. Another day of inside entertainment. I finished the genealogy document for Janes friend, yesterday so I shall have to find another occupation today. I sent the report as a pdf but I have had a request for a format that can be added too so that is one thing I have to do. Its pilates at 10.00 and there is 45 minutes yoga at 11.15am which I may do . So I think thats it, not much to write today.

Have a good day everyone

Oak is notorious for warping especially if it hasn't been cut radially which now-a-days you don't get. I think the only option is to give it a good soaking then try to control the drying out to minimize the warping. Or give it up as a bad job and cut off the other end and hope for the best.

Dead right Ken. I shall give it until tomorrow but have the option of cutting from the other end of the stock which is in better shape. I shall have a quiet day, it won't do me any harm!
Sue, that sounds like the choices I've made. I reckon a day of rest would not do any of us any harm!

Recycling day tomorrow, so a good solid 2 hours cleaning out old Ancestry paperwork ( my favourite kind of sorting NOT!).
That topped up the recycling bin to full after I kindly emptied hubby’s office waste paper basket and shredding machine.
I don’t want to handle any more paper today Thankyou.

Looks like a dry day so at the moment the favourite looks like cutting another base out of the stock and starting again. Otherwise normal, getting exercise early, avoiding people, hiding from the virus and keeping my hands clean!

Very strange so far, I need daylight and dry weather to do what must be done next, cut another engine base and so I'm sat here twiddling my thumbs.

Well...as soon as you give up all hope and decide to invest your energy elsewhere...the sun will appear through the clouds, Stanley! :biggrin2:

Morning

Much brighter this morning, no mist and a nice dawn. I am not sure it is going to last but if it does we will probably go out for a walk. Its a few days since we were out and about and all this being cooped up in the house doesn’t do my sinuses any good. Yesterday morning passed quickly with my two classes. The yoga was very relaxing, a very different sort of class. I spent the afternoon pottering on some genealogy , tidying up the files on my iPad and computer and a bit of jigsaw. I think I will probably do more of the same today. I particularly want to sort my photograph folders which have got into a real mess I have loads on my ipad that I used to keep for reference for art classes butas I am not doing any at the moment they may as well be stored on my laptop. I am hoping this will speed up my iPad which has become very slow.

I have a new art project to do after my zoom meeting last Friday. The topic is myths and legends, any media. So being a good North Eastern girl at heart I have opted for the Lambton Worm. I found a superb image on line which I will use as my resource. That will probably keep me busy today. This evening I have another double session of pilates and yoga.

Thats my day sorted. Take care all have a good day.

I like the Lambton Worm Sue, and you've a song to go with it.
No Maz, I know that clear weather is coming in fact it's here now but I shall do my cutting after second sleep·
I improved the shining hour by doing my weekly shop at this Co-op this morning. Only two customers in there. :good:

No - but I'm a way from that at the moment, but it may come to that one day.

Just memories of drunk lads from the Sunderland area when I was in the army.

Check out Lord Lambton He was a bit of a character.

Here's a controversial thought - I never met anyone from the North East that I didn't like, and I never met any Welshmen that I did like. Stand by your stereotypes.

I know it well. The three houses in my school were Lumley, Lambton and Ravensworth, the local castles to the town. Penshaw monument or as the locals called it Pensher, was visible whichever main road you travelled . My Dad , who was a. Afea manager for a local brewery, named one of the local Pubs that he had done up, the Lambton Worm. I believe its still called that

I thought I'd never heard of Penshaw, but seeimg it I recognised it immediately.

Mentioned by Lucinda Lambton (who was at the time married to Peregrine Worsthorne) when she did a TV progammen about the A1 road.

What a memory for rubbish.

I was brought up on a feast of local stories, and local history. Fancy thinking you didn’t know Penshaw Monument if you were living in Sunderland😊

Don't ask how I got here but the newish film The Lair of the White Worm Link. was written as a tribute to Oscar Wilde. Why Lambton and Wilde got into my head I don't know.

That's how my mind works!
I bridled immediately at your anti Wales remark David but then realised I could think of Geordies I liked but no Taff's. I'll have to give it further thought.
Today I shall be engine building on the new base, calling the surgery, there is a message for me and generally staying safe.

Morning

It was a beautiful day yesterday. We decided early to have a walk to the post office and instead of doing a loop back along Woodland Road, by Turner Bothers factory ( or more correctly ,unsightly ruins) we carried on up the hill two miles to Rooley Moor, then back down through Prickshaw and on to the railway bridle way. The circuit was 5.7 miles . We met an old friend queuing at the post office and had a long chat as we hadn’t seen him for years. We also stopped by at Maxines, my sewing teacher, having a chat from the bottom of the drive. It was nearly 1.00 pm when we got back, so it was a late lunch. I spent the afternoon uploading photos from my camera on to my laptop and sorting them in to folders.

This afternoon I have a Jeremy Ford art workshop. I have done nothing to prepare for it so I shall be busy this morning, moving the jigsaw, drawing my outline picture and generally setting up. The workshop is 2.30 till 6.00 pm. I have a late pilates class at 8.00 pm

I have passed my first CELTS assessment with 100%. I thoroughly enjoyed researching these questions. This is a much better designed course and assessments than the archaeology. I must read the second chapter and start researching the second assessment.

The backing paper to do the whale applique on my Alaskan quilted table runner has still not arrived, I have ordered some more from eBay.

So thats my day. Have a good one, stay safe.

I'm glad you are getting on so well with the archaeology course Sue.
I've just sat down after an hour and a half in the shed and will get my breath before getting a breath of fresh air in the back street, making breakfast and posting on shed matters, I see Bob has been active!
As for the weather, spots of rain/flakes of snow? falling at the moment. I think there is going to be more later.

I passed the archaeology course with a distinction Stanley. I am now doing Introduction to the Celts . A very interesting course booklet. I feel I may learn a lot this time

Sorry Sue I thought they were the same course. I always found the Celts fascinating......

Here's a snatch of what I am doing this morning. Margaret's engine is on its final base, nicely oiled oak, and I have been fitting all the elements of the valve gear. It's almost ready for installing. Nice quiet satisfying work. No rush!

Well, all right David but less than complimentary about welsh men.
Sue, that jigsaw would drive me mad.
