Cheaper too in terms of longer term maintenance.

The name Darius Guppy came to my attention and I refreshed my memory.... See THIS and note the linkages......
Later.... I have had a look at the road... They finished the patches as far as the library and ground out the others. They left them like that, protected with a warning of bumps and a 10mph limit which of course most drivers are ignoring. The saga goes on, another road closure today?

Yes, it was another road closure.....

At 11:30 the tarmac was down and everyone was stood around.

What a pity they couldn't have fixed these bad potholes in Station Road while they were at it. They re-opened the road at Noon.

The whole lot should have been planed off and resurfaced like they have done in Foulridge. They will be back next spring or not, probably.

I agree Ian.
What attracted my attention was a small packet containing a book on ratting and an addressed first class return envelope but no name. My first thought was that it was from David and contained the sample peg for his calendar but I was thrown when it wasn't. I still think it's from David and wonder what the envelope is for.... Enlightenment please!

Plaques, you might have to take care if this project goes ahead! Note the words at the end: `Campaigners are also concerned that technology companies may use artificial intelligence to identify harmful content. That, they say, may introduce racial biases and will wrongly censor language, "especially when it comes to irony-loving Brits".' :extrawink:

Sorry - it wasn't meant to be cryptic. I thought the info on the Daily Bread thread was sufficient.

No name because it wasn't needed - the envelope was to send the finished article without costing you anything. No template because I don't have one. It's a 'design and build' project. Just a brass peg to go into a 3 - 4mm hole, which you offered to make for me. The picture of the perpetual calendar gives a good idea for size.

The book was just a gift. I enjoyed it a lot, and thought you might too.

Does that mean the Express won't be able to tell us we are about to be hit by asteroids, comets. rocks the size of 10 double deck busses? Or is it to stop people calling a buffoon a buffoon and nobody will be able to mention Brexit or Track and Trace. 1984 Ministry of Truth strikes again.

Thought so David but wasn't sure. The peg will be made this morning.... :biggrin2:
Ken, or to stop Johnson using words like turd and spaff!

I'm listening to the discussions about the US retreat from Afghanistan and the Taliban taking up positions for a takeover. President Biden is being blamed, this is unfair. Going back to the British failures in the 19th century up to the Russians and then the US what has always been obvious is that Afghanistan is not a country but an area inhabited by often warring tribes. As such, any efforts to give them 'democracy' were doomed to failure.
This being the case, I think it's high time to walk away.....

As have countless others, didn't it take the Russians 25 years to realise it was a lost cause?

That's right Ian. Their army was actually in Afghanistan from 1979 to 1989.

Indeed. Look at this Retreat from Kabul

"Out of more than 16,000 people from the column commanded by Elphinstone, only one European (Assistant Surgeon William Brydon) and a few Indian sepoys reached Jalalabad."

That triggered me off into looking for this David. A song we used to sing in my days serving Her Majesty....

Oh, we're leaving Khartoum
By the light of the moon
We're marching by night and by day
Oh, we can't stand the heat
We've got f*** all to eat
They've thrown all our rations away!

Shire shire, Somersetshire
The skipper looks on her with pride
But he'd have a blue fit
If he saw all the shit
On the side of the Somersetshire!

This is my story, this is my song
I've been in the army too f**king long
So God bless the Rodney, Revenge and Renown
But we can't say the Hood 'cause the bugger's's gone down!

There were many versions of this but I was once told that the original was inspired by the retreat from Kabul many years earlier.

Kahara with his new engine. At the moment he thinks it's a car and the flywheel is the steering wheel. He'll sort it out. Main thing is he's enjoying it!

I wonder if you have later generation router Kev?

The interface pictures you put up are different to what I get on mine. Mines a Huawei HG 633.

Mine's a Huawei but I couldn't find the model number on it.
Currently 67mbps down and 19 up. It's got another 12 days of 'settling in' to do so no idea what I'll end up with yet.

I though I was going barmy for a second, I thought I posted this query in the computer thread but obviously not. Because it wasn't there I have posted it again!

Model number on mine is very small but in the top left of the label on the back. It might also give you the model in the dashboard, I know mine does.
