You're close but no cigar. Kev is right in that it's earthenware and connected with cooking but not any kind of cooking pot.

I would have liked you to say 'spit-roasted' China but I have to give it to you, yes, it's for catching the gravy from roasting meat and of course acted as a reservoir so that the meat could be basted.

It's an orange ruler...oh, sorry, I thought the other thing was put there just to show the size of the ruler. :extrawink: Well if the other thing is not for making pills what about pressing out something like stamps or tickets? Either putting a pattern of holes through (perfins) or raised marks (embossed).
