A very Happy Birthday to you Stanley.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
I just looked it up, Cazza, and it was a Friday.
Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Morning
I just read Happy Birthday Stanley and thought!thats wrong his birthday is the same as my Dad , Feb 14 th. Oh! It is Feb 14 th, Happy Birthday Stanley. This month is flying by. Have a good day Stanley.
Well I definitely have a cold or allergy , sneezing and blowing non stop but no other symptoms. I had a reasonable nights sleep having taken a cold remedy, but as soon as I woke it started again!
We did only a short walk yesterday , the wind was biting so we kept low. In patches the paths were obscured with ice but our usual deep muddy wet fields were crunchy so we could walk on those instead. I finished my t shirt top, did the washing and the ironing and that was all. Today I have the bedding to change but nothing else is planned, it depends how much the sneezing etc affects me, though I don’t feel ill.
I would normally take flowers to the cemetery today being the anniversary of Dads death but as we are not allowed to travel it will have to wait till another time
We still have no snow or rain despite the forecast
Have a good day everyone

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
I wonder if it is the bitter cold making us sneeze and stream Sue, I'm sneezing too. It's cloudy and grey here but no rain or snow yet, the wind is starting to move round to the south east. I shall be so relieved when I don't have to keep replacing frozen buckets of water for hens, ducks and ponies!
Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
It has crossed my mind Wendy. Its funny when we go out walking it clears a bit. Yet his isn’t just sniffles from being inside, its an absolute streamer requiring multiple handkerchiefs in just an hour. Yet I know what causes colds and there is no way I have been near enough to anyone to catch one. Bob doesn’t have it. Bob suggested it was an allergy to the roses he bought me but the symptoms already existed before then. I have no flowering plants in the house, in fact no plants they are in the conservatory , at the moment, which we rarely go in at this time of year. Its a mystery .Wendyf wrote: ↑14 Feb 2021, 07:58 I wonder if it is the bitter cold making us sneeze and stream Sue, I'm sneezing too. Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Paulette sneezes, a lot, all year round. She takes an antihistamine every day which does give some relief, if she stops taking them she can go through a box of tissues in a day...Sue wrote: ↑14 Feb 2021, 08:20It has crossed my mind Wendy. I sneeze a lot at work, before starting work I clean my area (COVID-19 style), then make sure I have a box of tissues on my desk - Hospitals behind the public area’s are not the cleanest of places.
At home I don’t sneeze much, but still need a box of tissues close by, when I have my head down reading, doing crosswords , using my phone etc while watching Tele because my nose drips.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Thanks to all of you and yes Ken you're right. We have to keep going to keep the standards up!! Like you Sue I forgot it was the 14th and had to be reminded by Margaret. I treated myself to doing nothing, not even having a hot breakfast. I was back in bed early and when I got up again I was full of good intentions about going for a walk. Then I put my head out of the door, howling wind and face ache cold! The Thaw is coming Wendy but it's definitely not here yet. I shall stay inside, read and keep warm! I recommend that to the rest of you. 10C tomorrow, tropical!

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Ah, so you decided to have a birthday this year - I thought perhaps you'd decided to stay the same age from now on! I didn't notice any of the `subtle' usual advance warnings! Anyway...HAPPY BIRTHDAY, and I hope it's been a good one for you. Best wishes...

At least Stanley doesn't lie about his age. Unlike a certain Mr Whipp who claims he is 54 years old.
He must have failed maths miserably as he was born in 1954. He's 13 months younger than me and I know how old I am.

So do I . I have allergic rhinitis . But this is not just sneezes. It is much more like a cold. Its worse in the evening. The cold medication is working however. Lads of handerchieves consumed through out the day . Hopefully tomorrow it will have subsided a bit.

Well spotted Peter. I didn't give any hints this year. Funny thing is it wos me that forgot the day until Margaret reminded me. Google says today is the 14th on my 'smart' phone.....
Much warmer this morning, I shall be back in the shed with my cannons.

Had an email from one of my daughters yesterday: "Can't believe I'll be halfway to 90 next week!"
Reply: Halfway to 90! I'm halfway to 150 by your calculation method!

Morning
A little warmer today, with cloud only a little sun and rain arriving in the evening. My cold ticks on with a lovely thick head this morning . I feel an olbas oil inhalation will be needed after breakfast.I have pilates at 10.30, so would like to clear my head a bit before then . Yesterday I didn’t do much. We did a walk up higher than we have been doing but tracks had to be picked carefully. In some places icy sheets covered the whole path and there were some spectacular icicles hanging down where streams coming off the moor had frozen in mid air. The windwas still wild but not as bad as last Sunday. Today it is a lot calmer. In the afternoon I did a little sewing and read the next chapter on my Celts course. I may tackle the assessment this afternoon. Its an interesting section on Celtic art. We may walk.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
I've only just seen how many posts there are above about sniffles and sneezing. I'm a member of that club too. When I go out now I need handkerchiefs, tissues are useless. But it also comes on, both runny nose and sneezing, when I'm indoors. Not all the time but just bouts of it I can't relate it to anything in particular. It's been much worse over the last year - perhaps my nose is making up for lost time caused by no infections! I never had hay fever until a few years ago but now get it every year in the appropriate seasons. Someone sent us a bunch of exotic flowers via M&S at Christmas and I burst out into the worst hay fever I've experienced as soon as we opened the packaging. We had to put them in the porch and I held my breath every time I went out of the front door!
