I thought it was just one more bit of evidence I am getting older. The classic 'dew drop' on the end of the old man's nose..... :biggrin2:
I shall be aiming for the shed and my munitions factory, much nicer in there now the weather has warmed up a bit. The rest of the day is a mixture of household tasks, Radio 4 and later Shardlake. At no time am I bored!

Morning

Today I am feeling much better. The cold dried up during the day yesterday and apart from a bit of a thick head on waking this morning I feel fine. Yesterday was quite warm, the weather station in the garden reported 11 degrees and when we went for a walk I had to unzip my coat I was so warm. Today is cloudy and rain later this afternoon.

I finished Chapter 5 and the assessment of Celts yesterday afternoon and evening and apart from pilates and our walk I did little else. Today I think I may cut out a pair of grey jeans. The material has been sitting washed and ironed for a week. No doubt I will follow up the cutting out with sewing, the first step being to embroider the pockets . Anyway that should keep me busy most of the day. If we want to walk I think the best time will be this morning. By my reckoning we are 16 miles across the channel on our virtual walk. As there is no view to see (sea) ie google maps doesn’t plot the sea we have nothing to look at when I log our miles. We are looking forward to some views in Calais in about a weeks time, should the weather be OK. As usual the weather in the second half of February is improving.

Have a good day everyone.

You sound to have your day nicely mapped out Sue. Yes, we have rain forecast for this afternoon but sunny intervals as well. I have just come in from the shed after two hours of honest endeavour, now for breakfast and posting on Shed Matters.....

As far as the cannons go, we have all three at the same stage. I had a play with a vise as well and finished up throwing it in the scrap!

I shall give the carronades a couple of hours this morning and spend the rest of the day in my usual frenzied round of activities like sleeping, reading and walking! Looks as though it could be a reasonable day.

We had a beautiful early morning hour and a half walk along the beach this morning, in shorts and T-shirts and wearing Sun hats, before the day warmed up to 33C.

Update...just saw the weather report...we got to 38C today. But it was very pleasant on the beach, as we were walking it by 8am.

Morning

Those cannons are looking very good indeed Stanley, and what a lovely thought Maz, a walk along the beach early in the day. My equivalent delight would be a walk high in the hills near a tumbling stream with a fantastic view and fresh air in the lungs. I have never particularly been a beach person except lonely wild beaches, like the coast of Oregon or Northumberland.

Yesterday turned out, weather wise, better than expected. We did a 4 mile walk in the morning, the paths were back to muddy but most of the huge puddles of water have drained away as we have had little rain or snow in the last week . There were still patches of ice in places but nothing hazardous. By my reckoning we have now done 20 miles across the channel on our virtual walk but I find the app misses out here by not telling us how far we are to our next destination, which of course is Calais at about 32 mies from Dover. On return,I did cut out my jeans and have been able to do some nice contrast pockets with the left over fabric from Eve’s bag. I did a fair bit of the sewing but today I must embroider the back pockets and do the fly zip front, both time consuming jobs. I have no other plans except may be a walk this morning, which is the best part of the day.

Have a good day all

Morning Sue! Just come in from the shed. I'll post on the carronades later, I'm glad you like the shape....
Beaches. When Mary and I did the coast holiday round the North of Scotland in the camper van we found some lovely deserted beaches up there....
I'm having my breakfast and posting in shed matters. I shall return....

Later....

We move forwards into the next phase, one down and two to go!

Apart from a few surfers out in the water, we only encountered 2 other walkers in an hour and a half...I wouldn’t call it a crowded beach.

Agreed , about the same as our daily walk in the hills .No its not the number of people on the beach Maz, its the beach itself. I like wilderness and wild scenery and a lot of beaches are too tame for me.

Took the car down for its first MOT, decided to walk back rather than wait. Just short of 2 miles 'up hill' plenty of fresh air, in fact too much of it. Left gasping for breath on the last rise. Telephone call now to say its ready to collect. At least its all down hill. Will pop into the library to collect another book and then the pharmacy for the keep you alive pills. Its all go for senior seniors. :biggrin2:

"Its all go for senior seniors. "
Dead right Ken. Everything is harder! My personal yardstick is when you have to give in and get a stair lift! Time in the shed these days is governed by how long my knees can stand it.
Bear this in mind as you fight the last stage, "Onwards through the snow and ice, bearing a banner with a strange device. Excelsior!" :biggrin2:

We have had a walk along the canal from Salterforth to Foulridge and back, just under 4 miles, Col is a bit weary but pleased he could do it. Yesterday we managed a 3 mile walk locally but it was hilly and very tiring for him, there is nowhere up here flat enough!

It's a nice day for getting out, despite working I've been out for two 20 minute walks around Foulridge :-)

We did 4.5 miles up on to Rooley Moor and back. Its a good climb up but nice to finish on a downhill. Mind you whichever direction we go we have to finish on a small uphill because of where the house is. We saw no one on the tops, fabulous views , but coming back along the old railway track at 11.30 pm I think everyone and their dog was out. Luckily there are so many side tracks we could avoid them.

It was very pleasant out yesterday particularly in the afternoon. My limit is 15 minutes round the Green, all flat!
Today I shall be chasing the carronades for an hour, doing my weekly Co-op shop early doors and from the look of it a walk in the afternoon.

Morning

It was a surprisingly nice day yesterday. We did our walk early as rain was forecast for the afternoon but it didn’t arrive until quite late. I spent the afternoon with the jigsaw and the sewing machine. We were pleased to see the arrival of a waste skip across the road.

The house exchanged hands in November having been empty for three years, Jim had been in a home for three to four years and last April whilst we were in France he died of Covid. He was in his 90s. The house was done up prior to that but did not sell for a long time. Anyway the new occupants arrived in November and did more work on the house, converting the garage into a room for the kids and an office. Over the last three months the pile or should I say the mountain of accumulated rubbish next to the garage, including an old bed has grown and been a real eyesore. Being winter we have hardly seen the new owners to ask them politely to move it although we have spoken to them several times them after they moved in . We were also worried about foxes that live locally and rats that have been seen on occasions apart from the fact that it is not nice to see from our lounge window. Anyway the waste skips , two of them, arrived. The family helped with the delivery then promptly went back inside, so now we have rubbish and two skips. At least it is ptogress. I would have been filling it

This morning I have physio, and this miss pilates. I think it may be the last visit and there has been no change in the problem so I shall ask advice on what I should do next. Heavy rain is forecast all day so I think that will be the high light of my day. Otherwise jigsaw and sewing call.

Have a good day everyone

Later.....

All three carronades are at the same stage. I have done my weekly shop. I deserve my breakfast now!
And then of course my second sleep.....

Just seen your post Sue. I agree, I had a yard full of rubbish next door for a year but thankfully it was not in direct view. I would have been complaining if it had been. It's raining here but it could be a better afternoon, the forecast here is sunshine and showers. Depends what the proportions are!

Skips have been filled, bins put round the back, great progress. Our daughter who is an environmental officer said we should have complained, but we decided to give them time bearing in mind the bad weather we have had and the workmen who still kept coming. I had decided to give them one more week now the weather is a lot better. Anyway, job done, just got to see when the skips go now but at least it looks a lot tidier .I did wonder if one of the other neighbours had complained , I know several have stopped and looked at it.

Some can live with levels of chaos we wouldn't put up with Sue.
I shall be pursuing the carronades of course but apart from that enjoying the better weather. I had another nice walk yesterday just missing a sharp shower.

Morning

We are awake early this morning as Bob has a blood test appointment at the surgery at 7.50 am . We shall have breakfast when he returns. It was an OK day morning yesterday despite the forecast and when the rain came it was light, unfortunately it came in the afternoon as we set out for our walk .We walked over the moors to Whitworth post office, meeting no one on the way, then continued up to Tesco to get some cash from the machine there. We returned, rather wet by now via the railway bridle way, just under the 6 miles the round trip and one of the flattest walks we have done in ages .

In the morning I had my trip to the physio. Nothing has worked and the sharp pain in my feet continues. We had a long chat and decided there was no point seeing the GP for a referral as it would probably be the same physio or similar I would be referred to . The person I gave been seeing privately is an advanced practitioner and deals with cases such as mine. The decision is that I possibly have a minor problem in my back and that there is no real remedy. After treatment yesterday I have been advised to wait a week to see if there is improvement and then , if not , to give up pilates for a month to see if that has an effect, but he doubts it will. Long term I am advised to continue doing what I am doing now as the gains I get far out weigh the problem I have.

The rest of the day I sewed and just have the waistband to do on my jeans . We also had a visit from a door fitter with a view to changing the front door. We leave our porch unlocked these days for parcel and shopping deliveries so need a better front door. The porch door has always had the good locking system and has acted as our secure door.

Today is dance exercise followed rapidly by a U3A art meeting on zoom. This reminded me that I have not yet done this month’s art project so need to get on with it sometime soon. The forecast today is rain

Have a good day everyone
