A blast from the past...
Just had a soft serve ice cream / espresso/ cappuccino van on my street.
I heard the Greensleeves music coming from streets away.
Haven’t seen an ice cream van in the suburbs for decades.
It’ll be the milkman and bakers van next .

I knew a woman who always told her kids that the ice cream man played his chimes to let everyone know he'd run out.

A message from Susan. No fish and chips today. I'm having a great grand daughter by Caesarian as I write......

After the Lord Mayor's procession..... The Gas man has fitted a new thermostat. The old one did 25 years so I think I'm all right.....

Jess has not fallen to pieces during the night. Tension mounts for today!
My new thermostat is calibrated slightly different than the old one so I woke to a cool house, I have turned the stat up a bit and will see how it feels after 24 hours at that level.
I shall be in the shed pursuing my engine. Doubtful is we will have bookie watch or even a walk as we are promised rain all day. I shall see what it's like at noon.
I missed second sleep yesterday, that will not happen today!

Tripps, congratulations on receiving your medal and especially on being allowed to wear it, despite the early attempts by the FCO to prevent that!

No word about my new great grand daughter in waiting!
Later, Susan has been for lunch and Jess was scheduled to go into theatre at 9AM this morning. She has heard nothing and so assumes that they have gone ahead.

The fact I have a house that is slightly too warm as I come to terms with the new thermostat!
I am reminded that on this day in 1958 Harold Macmillan opened the Preston by-pass and started the motorway era....
