We still have snow on one patch of the front garden but the soil has thawed, if a little cold. I p,anted the primulas whilst the sun was beating down on that patch f soil, it felt quite warm as I put them in. We have been sat in the conservatory which has been very nice. Perhaps Spring is coming

I have made progress with my cleaning, Col has been washing the windows and is now cooking a lamb curry (which smells delicious). We are about to enjoy a magnificent sunset...listening to the trusty old 60th birthday playlist (Brian Ferry, "Dylanesque" playing at this moment) and supping a nice red wine. Lovely. :peace:

I'm with you babe...you've done the work...now enjoy the wine!
( interesting that hubby has chosen Curry to cook. You do know that Curry is "food for lovers"? Me thinks he has been sympathising with Mr. Duck...or could it just be that Spring IS coming?)

Good point about smoke alarms, I shall test them today. Actually I don't think there was enough smoke to trigger them or perhaps not the right sort.
After all, Though a mess, it wasn't a fire risk. CO2 meter fitted as well....

Today I have mainly been at the Blackpool Amateur Radio Rally. It was at the Norbreck Hotel, Sally came with me and walked down into Blackpool while I visited the rally. It was Blackpool Marathon and Half Marathon as well today. We met up later and stopped at one of the hostelries on the A59 for our tea on the way back. It was a pleasant day in the sun at the coast but cooler towards the end of the afternoon.

A generous donation to the Rest Home for Traumatized Hens (at this address) would be the only thing that could save Mr Duck from being curried next Saturday. :trustme:

From what I gather from reports we have had, the farther South you live in the UK, the more likely you are to have loved her.
The farther North you live in the UK, the more you didn't!
(to the point where they said the Glaswegians were toasting her demise with Champagne...)

According to my previous post ( and if I don my dishevelled Columbo Coat) , I would say you lot were " Northerners"!
Not quite as North as Glasgow, as no one has mentioned Champagne... ( which is just as well because I cannot drink Champagne...it goes straight to my legs)...

Arrived in Brittany to rain, and more forecast all week. Sunny this afternoon at 15C but a biting wind. The garden is sodden whereas in Rochdale it is baked dry by the frost and wind. Still, must get the gardening boots on we have trees and shrubs to plant.

Taking it easy after my cleaning activities.
Wendy, your post referring to cleaning for visitors reminded me of the old joke about the bloke stood at the bus stop with a Gorilla on a leash. His mate asked him what he was going to do with it. "Take it home". "How about all the muck and the mess?" "He'll just have to get used to it...."

Comrade, when my old mate Jack Platt had been retired for a year I asked him what it was like. He said "Fine, once you've finished bloody decorating!"
Today I await with interest to see the 'improvements' to the BET. (The same ones that have cut my space in the paper to 500 words and a pic!)
