Thanks Kids! Eyes, just that I can't see clearly. Better after a sleep. I suspect too much time spent on the screen. I shall change my routines and spend less on the screen and more in the shed. Don't worry. I'll be back later.

Later. A programme on leaf cutter ants and their partnership with a fungus that lives in their nest. See THIS article. Possibly the most organised organism on earth including us!

This came up on my Facebook 'memories' today. It's Jack (Stanley's dog) in a thoughtful pose 13 years ago. :biggrin2:

And a brilliant piece of Photo Shop work Kev.
What grabbed me was the end of Jarndyce v. Jarndyce, a complete surprise to all of us. This on the same day I dealt with pressing matters with British Gas and Talktalk. It felt as though a lot of loose ends were being tied up.

I shall deal with this today. I don't touch type and the lack of an 'A' has been hindering my typing which was also compromised by my eyesight. I think a new keyboard is in order!

See THIS report that the UK government is to scrap 'golden visas'. This was the scheme whereby if a person could demonstrate $2.75million in the UK they got a visa for them and their families. This is the route used by Russian and other kleptocrats to gain entry and residence.

`Smart meter danger: Fears devices interfere with nuclear missile warning system: Smart meters risk interfering with nuclear missile warning systems, prompting energy bosses to halt their roll out in an area of Yorkshire.' LINK
`People who live near RAF Fylingdales have been refused smart meters because their signals may clash with the station's ballistic missiles radar equipment. RAF Fylingdales falls under UK Space Command, providing a continuous ballistic missile early warning service to the UK and US Governments. The Telegraph reports that the radio frequencies smart meters use to send usage data to suppliers has proved to be problematic as they are too close to those used by Fylingdales. Ministers have halted the roll out to some homes on the North York Moors National Park until they can be fitted with a new type of smart meter which can operate on the 454MHz frequency instead of the standard 422-424MHz band used by most of the gadgets.'...

Interesting, those frequencies are either side of the UK allocated amateur radio band 70cm (430 - 440MHz). Often used in mobile installations and with a network of repeaters around the country all using the frequencies. We can also use considerably more transmission power than a smart meter. I have the capability of that band in my car and can legally drive up onto the moors, park up more or less outside and use it.

There are exceptions regarding usage in a radius around Charing Cross though. Maybe Dave can expand on this?

The updated SMETS2 meters are being rolled out in quite a few areas already.

I have been thinking about the smart meter problem with Fylingdales. All I can say is that the equipment in use for the over the horizon radar must be pretty useless on it's filtering if low power smart meters can interfere with it! I would have expected systems that were a bit more robust in that regard. :extrawink:
