What has got my attention this morning is a call from Margaret to say she is popping in for a cup of tea on Sunday..... That's right, she's flying over to check on me I think! So that was a bit of a surprise..... :biggrin2:

Don't get me going about motorways and Colne bypasses I've enough on my plate as it is.
The M65 motorway was largely funded by the EU but our Pendle council thinktank prevaricated so long about its direction through Colne, basically not in my back yard stuff, mortuis nihil nisi bonum, that the funding ran out of time. Then came the bypass idea round Foulridge. Sold to alleviate the traffic congestion but really about building more houses on green field sights that would be 'spoilt' because of the road. November 2019 our illustrious MP Andrew Stephenson promised a road review to be decided early next year. Can't hold my breath any longer,

That reminds me of the man I knew who flew from Hawaii to the UK in the 1970s for an interview at Bristol University to work with Professor Eglinton (whose team did the geochemical analysis of the Moon rocks), had the interview and flew straight back to Hawaii. He said it was great - no jet lag! (His wife worked for the airline so he got cheap tickets.)

It'll be closed for 'surface dressing' in both directions. The letter states 'it would be realistic to anticipate some delays and inconvenience'. I think they could be right :biggrin2:

This fascinating article in Current Archaeology magazine should be interesting to OG members and anyone else with a hankering for warps and wefts. It's a shortened online version of the longer print article...

I wondered what that heavy thumping was!
Margaret has a Negative PCR test. I have told her to isolate until she boards her flight!!
I read the article Peter.... Far more technical than my level of knowledge.

Tension mounts as Margaret nears her flight on Sunday..... I have told her to isolate until she gets on board, after that it's in the lap of the gods. In theory everyone will have tested negative........

The cost of a couple of days away in a UK hotel. Dinner, bed, breakfast and evening entertainment at Nidd Hall near Harrogate is £262 a night for the two of us. That's more than twice what I paid (per night) for a cruise. Don't get me wrong, Nidd Hall is very nice but prices are rocketing, I paid £111 a night in January.

That's going to be a common story I'm afraid Kev. Brexit alone was going to push prices up but The Ukraine conflict and sky high energy prices are going to push inflation even further and the young ones are going to wonder what has hit them.

If you're feeling adventurous have a look at this. I was doing a search for glowcock China wondering if it would give any clues about Graham as Glowcock was his Hotmail address. I made my excuses and left!

We've see urban explorers before - here are some more...
`The friends who explore abandoned buildings' BBC video
“In some ways we’re like urban historians”, says 20-year-old Alistair, looking up at the ornate architecture of a building in south-west Glasgow. Along with his friends Alex and Theo, they explore abandoned structures across the UK, creating online reports about the history and stories behind them. Through their photos and footage, the group say they want to preserve the memory of forgotten buildings for future generations.

My travel insurance has specific cruise cover, this includes a payout of £50 each for missed ports due to weather conditions. The ship was unable to dock in Madeira, on February 23rd, due to high winds so we had an extra day at sea, makes a change to get money from an insurance company :good:
