Yesterday during our trip to see young Nick, he is still in a lot of pain and has sickness because of the pain killers he is on at the moment.
On the way back I called at Sainsbury's on North Valley for fuel. I was going to fill it up as it's at least 4p a litre cheaper than Barlick. I elected to pay at the pump so used my credit card and was offered up to £99 of fuel. No problem there, what was wrong was the cut out on the E10 filling nozzle on pump 4 I think it was. I tried all angles into the tank to no avail. I gave up after 10 minutes at £30. I would have filled it, which would have made the sale £60 - £70 if the equipment wasn't faulty. They are losing revenue if they don't fix that, no one came out to see why I was struggling! I told them in the kiosk but I wont go to pump 4 again..

There has been a bad accident at the Lothersdale junction just below us tonight. The air ambulance was here and the road is still closed 3 hours on.

That doesn't sound good Wendy. Folk do go fast along that stretch though.

Unconfirmed reports of a biker killed.

The warm weather brought the bikers out yesterday.
Am I right Wendy in thinking that we called that piece of road Sandbeds?

That's right Stanley. It's a dangerous, straight stretch of road where people overtake at high speed, ignoring the junction in the bottom of the dip.

Is it my imagination or is 'Mindfulness' becoming an alternative religion? 'Prayer for the Day' on BBC radio 4 this week has been taken over by a doctor Steve Taylor, a psychologist and author who regales us with bleeding obvious trite thoughts. Or is this just my natural aversion to anything to do with what is now called 'woke' culture.
I hear more and more of this and wonder whether one explanation for the increase in such output is the fact it is free, the opportunity for exposure is sufficient.

Cutting my head and the way a young friend saved me from getting enmeshed in badly staffed official medical channels. i.e. going to A&E! 24 hours later I have a watertight head, no side effects and am very pleased.
(For various reasons my usual lines of support were unavailable.) I've known the lady in question since she was a baby and love her to bits.... (Is that allowed?)

Yes Cathy, I lost my balance yesterday morning and fell. I was lucky and got away with it. I suppose these episodes are going to get more common, a worrying thought.

My experience of the Urgent Care Centre, at Burnley General, couldn't be faulted. It's probably too late to have it looked at now but I would certainly mention it to your GP. Head injuries can have other longer term implications.

I lost my balance yesterday morning and fell.
By that do you mean that:
1. You tripped over a kerb etc, or,
2. No tripping but your sense of balance went on the blink, or
3. You had a momentary blackout?
I'm glad you got some help and are feeling better. Take care. If you had a vintage car you'd be giving it great care so treat yourself the same way!

I was careless and got up too quickly. That was OK but then I turned too quickly and lost my balance. That loss of balance has been happening for years, it's why I stopped climbing ladders and going on roofs! Bottom line is I dropped my guard for a few seconds and that's something we all have to be aware of, the need to take care!
What attracted my attention is the fact Peter and Janet are off to Cornwall for a week. I hope they have good weather.

Have a look at
THIS Wkipedia article about Jack Monroe... An interesting character who is at the moment in a scrap with the man who said you could feed yourself for 30p a day.
She was the subject of Mark Coles' 'Profile' on R4 this morning. Well worth looking for on BBC sounds....

I knew you would ask me a question!
I’ve no idea, because no Party can give everyone, everything they want.
I imagine the rich won’t be happy.

I've just been to Biggleswade. It's the nearest place that has a Home Base, to collect a weed killer spray I ordered on line. It has an impressive shopping centre for the size of the place, and it was the scene of my last shopping trip in March 2020 before the lockdown.
I'll come to the point. We have been fed a diet of misery lately from the media; empty shelves, panic buying, shortage of lorry drivers, food price inflation, queues at Dover, Brexit, no immigrant workers, police and nurses amongst those unable to feed their families and going to food banks, etc etc.
I got my spray easily, but was a bit daunted by the size of the place and the walking involved between shops. However I spotted a Lidl and popped in. I've been using a local Aldi so it was new experience. I couldn't get Stanley's expression 'Cathedral of Choice ' out of my mind. It was enormous and packed out with customers, no empty shelves, and stocked with everything you could want. I like tomatoes, and I now find my self a bit oversupplied now with all kinds of them - vine ripened, family pack and several mini types. There was even a good stock of cooking oil.
I saw no misery at all. Just lots of healthy prosperous looking people shopping and enjoying the sunny weather.
Make of that what you will.

I've just been to the M&S outlet at Boundary Mill and bought a pair of jeans, plenty of people in there spending (considering Burnley are playing football today). It was then on to Aldi in Barlick, there were far too many people in Colne Aldi, to pick up some bits for tea tonight, chicken fajitas. No empty shelves that I could see.

A doe with a tiny fawn just walked through my back garden

I wasn't quick enough to get a pic.
