I'd best stock up. I have tried first press rapeseed oil (I believe we did have a conversation about it on here) and it's not bad. On a plus note, wine production is up.

That reminds me...I read in The Times this weekend that councils are buying up farm land and rewilding it because this allows them to sell `nitrogen credits' to developers, allowing them in turn to side-track concerns about pollution of rivers etc. More scamming - why do our politicians let it happen? As public lavatories are disappearing we should be allowed to buy pee credits so I can pee in the street when I can't find a loo!

Someone reminded me on the radio this morning that about twenty years ago - pensioners used to go to Benidorm for three of four months in the winter, for little money, and dodge the high fuel bills in UK.
I'm sure things have changed, but not the energy bills, and it might be a good time to do the sums again.
Are you not now limited as a UK passport holder to 90 days in any 180 days and proof of cash in the bank to support yourself ?

United Utilities have found the branch stoptap that feeds my house, hurrah!
A man with a metal detector and a 'listening stick' found it at the opposite end of the terrace.

I wondered about Blackpool Illuminations. The bill will be enormous this year, and with rising sea levels, I'd have thought they had enough to worry about. Well - they were switched on last night by Lawrence LLewelyn Bowen.
Look here at a webcam near the North Pier. Looks a bit peely wallie to me. (google if required).

Some great pics there. I also loved (after scrolling down), the pic of the red deer stag, in the snow at Richmond Park.

Pic taken by a 6yr old. Wow

Yesterday while I was on bookie watch about 30 trotting rigs came up the road from the direction of Bracewell and turned into Town Square......
Later.... The trotters.... I talked to my mate Steve who knows everything and he said he first knew about them last year. Evidently they meet at the Lord Rodney in Colne and do a circular ride for charity.....
Today it's cyclists on a time trial I think from the way they are spaced out.
The bookies is busy, is there an important race today?

David, I am listening to a piece on Blackpool illuminations. They say that this year they have one million lights and most of them are LED so though expensive, are an improvement on previous years.....

I just found this Blackpool on the interweb thingy.

I'd say he does a good job of getting you to visit. Looks OK.

Fast forward to aboiut 19 minutes to see the odd looking paved area which is visible on the webcam. Looks an interesting record of show biz history. The place is integrated into my life - I went there on holiday first in about 1947. Mrs Rushton's boarding house opposite the tram sheds. I also met Mrs T there - so I'm still fond of it.

I wish people wouldn't go back and add to their posts! If you have already read the unedited post you miss the update completely.....unless someone quotes from the update like Kev has done.

I think I've got it Wendy, it's about adding and not just editing..... I shall try to avoid confusing you....

What I'm trying to explain is that an addition or an edit to a post doesn't change it's status for someone who saw it before the addition, it remains a "read" post.
I log in at 6.30am, go to Active Topics and read through the list of early morning posts by clicking on the little red icon to the left of the topic which takes me to the unread posts on each topic. If you post on a topic again, or someone else posts, it pops back up to the top of the list as unread. If you edit your original post it doesn't change so there is nothing to tell me that you have made that addition.....so I read with great interest that you had seen all the trotting ponies but had no way of knowing that you had added an explanation or seen the cyclists.

I will also add that when replying to a post it may appear obvious that the reply is about the immediate previous post but if the page stacking is full you can start with a new screen losing all reference to what you are talking about. Its always wise to include a snippet of the previous post.

Wendy, like Stanley I'm guilty of adding `Later...' to one of my posts to provide additional information but I only do it if no-one has replied to my original post in the meantime (although there might sometimes be a crossover if someone writes at the same time as me). The reason I do it is because my past experience with other web forums has been that it was wrong to extend the thread unnecessarily with your own consecutive posts and was frowned upon. I suppose that was back in the bad old days when we didn't want to waste space on forum pages. But I can see the possible problem you've mentioned.
