Gilbert White (he, of Selborne) had a small thatched hermitage in the drawing on the front cover of his book`The natural history and antiquities of Selborne' (1798). Is your pic a replica?

From experience all vegetables become 'giganteum' if you ignore them for long enough.
Ive had five foot radishes. I 'd say they are just onions?
