All the media obsession with the Queen's funeral may have depressed him. We too have avoided it all for that reason. Come on out to play Tripps - as Cathy would say, we all know you here.

Mrs P does a one shop at Sainsburys who proudly display a board saying they price match Aldi. What a good advert for Aldi. Adding Lidl to the shopping tour would be risking your life crossing the North Valley road. The Co-Op would be asking for a heart attack walking up Windy Bank. All this adding hours to the shopping to save 5p on a tin of beans. Unless you are prepared to make shopping the highlight of the day spending hours to save coppers then you makes your choice and hopes for the best.
I forgot the one in Colne, it is a bit set back from the road junctions - though I did once get petrol from there. I did find spending 3p extra for Baking Potatoes was worth it as ASDA quality seemed better than Sainsbury's offering (with Aldi being midway in Quality).

Let David come back in his own good time. He is comfortable and will no doubt re-group.
As for today's news about William being created Prince of Wales so quickly.... Remember that the investiture of Charles was a completely new 'tradition' orchestrated by Lord Snowdon which was ridiculed by many in Wales and caused a lot of unrest. For that reason don't expect William to be poking his head above the parapet any time soon!

As referenced in the computer thread. My DPD delivery arrived bang on time. My order though included a free Car Care Kit of accessories which was not delivered. I dropped their Customer Service Centre a note via their website. I have an email confirmation, (almost by return) along with an apology and that the extra items will be delivered separately via Royal mail, (3 to 5 days).

My grand daughter Yiota sent me this image which her Partner ash's aunty snapped of the BBC live stream from Westminster Hall. (Respect.... She must have been on the ball!)
Yiota is in blue and white on the left with Ashley behind her. She says they queued for twelve and a half hours but says it was worth it.

Didn't realise Conor, (Conty) shared a birth date with our Carla. He has just turned 29. Revisited his page and find that none of his links work, website or Facebook. I'm sure he will be doing OK though. Its 8 years since he last posted.

My daughter, Sonja and her husband Tony, landed in the States yesterday evening. :good:
They are doing a road trip taking in a few music festivals (Memphis and Clarkesdale are two I seem to remember)
They arrive at our house on the 27th before leaving for the Firewater Festival in Kansas City on the 29th,

Nothing much really but with the passing of Queen Elizabeth II we shall get a new Royal Cypher on coins, stamps and Royal Mail post boxes. Which makes King Charles III, to be the first king that can be represented by numbers He will become 103R or in royal cypher terms CIIIR. I doubt if we shall see many new post boxes WhatsApp will have wiped them out by then. :laugh5:

I did get the day off work so we went for a walk up Noyna. Just been to Asda for some milk and spotted some very nice looking strawberries, had to buy a pot of extra thick double cream to go with them which was nice.

So many moving moments. Everything was so well done, as expected. I loved all the personal touches and stories too.
When The Queen returned to Windsor, it was just beautiful.
George and Charlotte were very touching.
Harry earned the right to wear his uniform ,I was sad for him that he couldn’t.
Well that’s it, she is gone. 😞 RIP Ma’am.

I'm glad the main event is over. Too much focus on death can be depressing when you are my age. No doubt it will echo down the week and we still have a coronation to look forward to! Deep Joy!

ITV "This Morning" did a bit of a celebrity inquest into the hows and whys of the funeral , a little look forward to what CIIIR might be. Today they were back on bits of cost of living and energy bills / support

I went to Colne and had my Covid booster but the main event was lunch with my family and here I am with a young lady..... Lily is growing up too quickly! Kahara was there as well but on the opposite side of the table.
No reaction to the booster shot as yet but I will take it easy.... I have the flu jab today.....
Susan tells me that a new jab exists which combines flu with Covid booster and that's what they are expecting at the care home at Thornton once their outbreak cools down.

I forgot to mention.... The rise and rise of the Church on the Street continues as they take over another shop in Town Square, the on just vacated by Pages books. They are asking for volunteers for what they describe as a children's charity shop.....
Sorry but every time I come across COTS my crap detector starts whining.

They were on the radio at lunchtime today. 'Pastor Mick' was plugging his new book. There must be money to be made as renting 3 shops can't be cheap.

I've set up a couple of charities and learned quite a bit about the seamy side of the charity industry. They have to be 'non-profit making' but in reality they are but the surplus money above running costs has to be applied to the aims of the charity. However, part of the surplus can be used to pay the executive officers of the charity and 'reasonable expenses', this is an area that has a lot of scope if whoever is running the charity decides to go down that route.
See THIS information from the Charities Commission.
