Good photo Stanley. We have a huge pile of wood waiting to be processed and Col got some cut and stacked before his health problems started. He isn't back on form yet, but I'm hoping he will be before the winter sets in!

Wendy, I learned very early in life that if you wanted to keep a woman happy 500 gallons of heating oil in the tank, five tons of coal tipped up in the yard and a big pile of good split wood. I had the LR Safari at the time and used to tidy up fallen trees for farmers. I made a good job and burned all the brash leaving things tidy so they were happy to let me have the wood. Some big trees but a lot of dead thorn which burned well!

We went for a Xmas morning walk down Harden Clough to Kelbrook then back up the other side. I took a few snaps on the way.

Here's Col & Bertie setting off down our track. We had a blocked drain up by the barn causing a small river to run down the track, but Col managed to sort that this afternoon.

Dennis & Sparky came to say hello as we passed by...look how sunny it is on the south facing side of the hill!

Then down past Brown Hill Farm with the old oak woods on Kelbrook Moor looking lovely in the sunshine.

Passing Kitchen with Harden Clough Farm in the distance nestling under the moor.

As we walk towards Harden New Hall in the bottom of the clough Harden Old House looks lovely up to the right with Cocket (Now renamed Stoneybank Farm) in the distance up on Bleara Road.

We come out onto Cob Lane and go down into Kelbrook before heading back on the other side of Harden Clough up Heads Lane.

Looking across to Burnt Hill from the other side of the clough....a slightly foreshortened view of the three old farms, Brown Hill, Lower Burnt Hill and Higher Burnt Hill. No sunshine on the north facing hillside at this time of year.

This is a zoomed view. You can see our water supply and pump house (enclosed by wooden fencing) to the left of the old sycamore below Brown Hill. The water is pumped right up the hill behind to another holding tank in a field above our house.

You could be lucky Wendy, not a lot of snow in the forecast, just hard frost. Those old lads are so lucky! Full bellies, freedom and warm coats, it doesn't get much better for an old horse! Look after yourselves just as well!
