Well, if you do insist on camping during monsoon season! If it was me, I would get a tent that was a bit easier and quicker to put up. Well done for the perseverance though. If you watch it on YouTube it has English subtitles and she obviously had a friend dong the filming. Left hand drive Jeep and driving on the left hand side, not sure where it was but I reckon somewhere in the tropics, it looks like warm rain?

Had similar in the Loire Valley when we used to Eurocamp, it chucked it down for 5 days out of the week we were there, never stopped, straight down day and night. It had some lovely carp in the châteaux site lake which was a bit of a bonus. Our second week was down on the Vendée coast and it was a bit like driving into heaven. We went back the following year but did the whole two weeks on the Ill de Ray. :extrawink:

I tried the Colne library today. No luck. They cover libraries outside Lancashire. With the bit between my teeth spent 20 mins on the 'on line Libraries' Tried every permutation of search. Still came up a loser. I'll call up again on Thursday but the odds don't look good.

There must be a joke in there somewhere on a book about gambling.

Cheapest on Abe is £18+ then £28+. Not sure I'd pay that. It's from MU Press and we've mentioned before speaking about the Omissi book, Stanley said they that they don't often do reprints.

Well I never - Try this link Flutter Just extracts - but interesting.

PS. I thought it was commendable that I resisted the temptation to point out that every permutation isn't required, and a combination would have been more than enough. In fact I guess just the ISBN would be sufficient. No one likes a smart a*se.

I'm becoming insufferable - even to myself. :laugh5:

When I say 'every combination' I don't mean every possible combination just the obvious combinations which turn to individual sub-searches which can be broken down into further sub-sections that return numerous possible answers. As far as the library searches are concerned the ISBN 0-7190-3436-1 gave no return as did the numerical part 0-7190-3436-1 but ISBN in isolation, which was strangely recommended by the search algorithm, gave 132 results none of which bore any relation to the intended subject. The same zero results applied to the a similar approach on the book title and authors name.

In conclusion every permutation isn't required because the Libraries don't have it. :laugh5:

For some reason MU don't do reprints as far as I am aware.
Ian, Japan I think for the country.

I'm surprised the agent didn't say - "in need of some cosmetic updating"

Handy for Barnard Castle

PS Sue - when you have finished in France this one should be a doddle.

As you may have noticed, I try to stick to my morning schedule and generally succeed. There is a reason for this, I am convinced that a good routine like this is the key to the fact that in my 87th year I am doing my own housework, cooking and shopping. I can almost hear the groans as I note each day what I had to eat (Not bloody chicken and veggies again!) but recognise that this too is driven by two things, first, my attempt to eat a diet that is suitable for a bloke with Type 2 diabetes and second, sourcing and cooling in such a way that I am not spending too much time cooking.
So, it may look repetitious and boring but I have a diet that suits me. If you question this ask yourself, when you get to my age will you still be able to look after yourself? We all have to decide on our own strategies, sorry if mine look boring but there might be a lesson in there... :biggrin2:
(This is why I always say that my hour in the shed each morning and the things I do in there are an essential part of my strategy for survival.)

I’m just going thru saving my supermarket bought items into a saved shopping list on my supermarkets on-line app.
I’m halfway thru a list of 66 items (not including fruits, veg’s and eggs).
I think I’m losing the will to live 🤪, but I’m sure the saved list will help me ‘to pick from’ when I’m ordering on-line for home delivery.
I wonder what I’ve forgotten…

Just added 3 more.

I'm so glad I only live five minutes from the Cathedral of Choice Cathy. Saves all that fuss, if I forget something it's only a small job to pop in and get it.

The fuss for me Stanley is having to bring my shopping home, on the bus, even with a buggy.
My back problems have reached the stage where I need home delivery.
Ooo 2 more items, pasties and tomato sauce…

I know the feeling Love! Last week when I got to the steps up out of the Co-op car park a young lady carried my shopping trolley up the steps with one hand. That really did make me feel old but it was nice!

See THIS and ask yourself why the government isn't taking urgent action. Can't they see that these are serious warnings? When chip shops run out of spuds or there is a cauliflower shortage they will suddenly wake up, blame Putin and scramble to take expensive extraordinary measures.
WAKEN UP! THIS IS A CLEAR AND PRESENT CIRCUMSTANCE NOT SOME SORT OF BARGAINING PLOY!
Interesting that when he was Minister of Ag George Eustise had cloth ears on this subject but now he is out of office he is protesting against dodgy trade deals, shortage of migrant workers and crops not getting planted. Why didn't he act when he had the power? Spineless toadying to the bosses. See Lord Agnew's stance in another topic. That's what we need integrity and backbone!

I am not an expert on football but I wonder if the success of the Moroccans in the World Cup is partly due to the fact that the match was played in a far warmer climate than is usual.....?

I have managed to save 158 items onto my Saved Shopping List. They tell me that it comes to $667.46!
So glad I don’t need 1 of each item every week 😊

But it show’s how much is in your kitchen, laundry and bathroom.

I've always been aware of that Cathy and, thanks to my mother's training, I always have stocks of everything. My biggest fetish in this respect is toilet rolls. I always have far too many in stock! My mother was the same, even in the war she had an airing cupboard full of toilet rolls....

My defence is slightly different Peter. I have stopped all activities that involve paying large elements of taxation to the government, ie. Gambling, drinking, smoking and running a car. That way I might be able to afford the increases.
(Just think how much those four activities channel into government coffers.)

I have just discovered that the BBC Africa correspondent is called Nyoka. How wonderful - I do hope she realises that she is not the real Nyoka. That gorilla used to terrify me - Saturday afternoons at the Pop - six pence - a long time ago. :laugh5:

And they still do. 3 pence for me. started watching it and couldn't stop but gave in at a point I could return to.
I think the funniest Gorilla song is by George Brassens. Jake Thackray did a version.
