Sue, Thanks for catching our rain so that we could have a sunny, if windy day..a couple of brief showers both ends of it.

Moh, you're right about the bedding plants. Far too early! We had persistent rain by the time Jack and I went for our early walk but it cleared up, wind dropped and we had a sunny afternoon. Glass is 29.9", a quick rise. Sky clear and colder but I don't think there is anything more than a ground frost. Dry so that's an improvement!

Later. Crisp frost underfoot, clear sky, no wind. A very acceptable February morning. Must have been colder than I thought because the heating cracked on for a couple of hours this morning till I lit the stove.

Icy cold wind on top of Weets this morning! Glorious views though, you could see the mountains of the lake district from up there. My face was numb with cold by the time we met Ian (again!) on the way back down.

Cold wind here as well after a calm start yesterday. Glass is 30.2", dry and cold but forecast is for a rapid warm up today lasting all week. Up to 18C forecast for Southern areas later in week, they are talking about a new February record.

Just back from our early walk. Cold wind but dry and quite a good morning for late February. Things could be a lot worse!

Heavy rain here in Nelson this evening but quite mild. Morning rain tomorrow then dryer in the afternoon and a milder day 11oc 52f. Even milder from Wednesday but wet and windy with a temp of 14oc 57f. Spring has started early, perhaps ?? One for Stanley here - glass 30.3.09 or there abouts !

Warmer and gentle persistent rain all night from the looks of it. Glass has dropped back to 30". Just think how the drought areas would love this.....

Just back from the early walk. Gentle rain but not cold. Butts Beck running a banker in Valley Gardens, must have rained for most of the night. No problems with water here!

If it rains here there will be trouble, I have just put the washing out. Stratocumulus clouds around, low, lumpy layer of clouds

Stratocumulus clouds generally appear as a low, lumpy layer of clouds that is sometimes accompanied by weak intensity precipitation. Stratocumulus vary in color from dark gray to light gray and may appear as rounded masses, rolls, etc., with breaks of clear sky in between. There we are, some learning for those like me who do not know one cloud name from another.

Sunny in the afternoon. Damp flags outside at the moment but not raining. Glass 29.9" so no real change there. Much warmer.

By the time I went out it was raining heavily. Didn't stop till 2pm and started again in the evening. Seems to have rained all night. Glass has risen to almost 30" and it's warm. Ground is absolutely sodden, standing water on all the area of grass. Wendy is wearing her wellies!

I need more than just wellies. Nobody went outside yesterday.... except the ducks. who thought it was a wonderful day. I kept the ponies inside, and took the opportunity to give them a brush. They start shedding winter coat by the end of January, but there was at least a feed bag full of white hair on the floor by the time I had finished. I always find the amount of hair that comes out a bit alarming.
Thick cloud or mist up here this morning despite the wind. Going to inspect the state of the field to see if it will stand up to hooves.

A resonably mild day today and an outing to Barlick. Visited Keith at The Cafe On The Square for pot of tea and a cake. Yes Sue, I believe Rochdale and Preston were sunny, but Barlick not quite so sunny. Turning colder tomorrow, sorry to say.
