It is a Twinlock Ledger key but I wouldn't have got it without your hint, it must be 50 years ago since I saw one whilst working at Windle and Bowker. Some of their clients had these ledgers, big heavy things, leather bound and kept in the mill office safe. The key went in at the top of the binding when you wanted to insert/remove pages. Thank goodness for computers and progress.

A winder.
Possibly for something hot, such as the door or damper in your new stove?

Nope. The picture is lousy quality because it is enlarged so much. The square of the spindle is not much bigger than an eighth of an inch across.

You've got it China. It's an old unused cloth ledger from Bancroft Shed office. The key is used to slacken or tighten the binding to insert more leaves.
Right, try this one.... Dead easy but I want an exact description...

Looks like the dart is made from a brass .303 cartridge case, probably filed with lead to fix the point. Rough flight holder and paper flights. Probably made by a P.O.W.

Nobody is getting there. Think very early days of darts, they were hand made at first and even at the end the barrels were made by hand, the brass part got very polished when in use. Reckoned to be the professional's dart.... I'll give it one more day.

Flyrite darts, they came in paper boxes. The paper flights had to folded or cut for yourself. Unicorn darts were another famous name and they came in a bakelite type box in the fifties, my dad had a set of those which were a prize for winning some works darting event around 1955. My brother threw one dart from the top of the stairs just as I was passing the bottom and it stuck in my little finger, never forget those!

These are from the 1950s. Schofield darts, reckoned to be the professional's dart in those days. They have the original paper flights and Sarawak cane stems. They came in various weights and I think these are heavy. You dismantled them and carried them in an aluminium tube, that's why they have survived for almost 60 years in such good condition. I seem to remember that they weren't sold in shops, you had to send away for them.
Right! Try this one.....

Looks like sealing wax to me. Stuff you melted and dripped on to documents and then impressed your seal. Also used to seal legal documents, and string on parcels.

looks a bit like heel ball / baul used by cobblers for sealing the edges of shoe sole, usually in black, but that could be for Stanley Holloways "Braan Bots"
