I've done the hospital visit, so intend to climb into the gardening gear now and get rid of some weeds. Tossing up about mowing the lawns too, but will do the weeding first and see how much energy I have left in the tank. Son said he would mow the lawns on the weekend for me but it looks like rain...

Weeded and trimmed the back garden anyway, but it is about to rain, so have had to abandon hope of further industry. The thing is that I can 'lose' myself for hours in the garden, which is quite a feat as it is not that big. Had the dog 'helping' me...
(running away with prunings and digging little holes...she is fast asleep in her bed now after all the effort and I have just filled in and swept up the last hole.)

Very tired, Stanley ( which is par for the course of his kidney failure). However, tests showed a slight improvement today so hopefully another 24 hours will see his symptoms abating as his kidney function improves. I sat with him for about an hour and gave his back a good rub with some cream, but he was struggling to stay awake so I left him to sleep.
The bills have started arriving already...( they don't even wait for you to start feeling better first!)

Spent the afternoon cutting the lawn down, literally cutting it down. It's cool and damp here in Brittany
but the wisteria has obviously loved it.

............clearing up tornado debris and being thankful that the house is still standing.
We lost 2 trees but apart from that have escaped lightly.

Tonight's sky doesn't look very reassuring.............

Maz, it sounds as though he is on the road to recovery, good. Exactly the same course as son in law Mick. Pity about the bills, and some people here gripe about the NHS!

Yes Stanley, I would say we are on the road to recovery. He feels more like himself today. Doctor is happier with his kidneys. He just needs to get his strength back now...

Meanwhile, I've done the gardens, cleaned through the house, caught up with the ironing and a million other things, have connected the gas heater up in the lounge ( not that we need it yet) and I will probably put the leccie blanket on the bed tomorrow ( cause he loves his leccie blanket) so that when they say "Come and get him", I shall be ready. If he continues at this rate he could be home on the weekend. Fingers crossed.

Nice to hear you are OK Mick, I was waiting for you to post. Good news on hubby as well Maz, amazing what the AB's can do once they get a grip on the bugs. I hope his recovery continues.

For me it's Finlay day, bound to be some kind of adventure!

Par for thee3 course Maz. Mick was the same, two steps forward and one step back. Stick in there!
My denture problem is insignificant. Off to the dentists this morning! (Amazing how hard it to talk when you're minus half your mouth!)

My advice is to get a whole new set and ask for 'Hollywood White' ones!
You won't know yourself with new choppers. For goodness sake throw the old ones out. We don't want them appearing as the mystery object in months to come.

D is looking better today. He even walked to the hospital cafe with me and we had coffee. Then he tackled the one flight of stars back to the ward instead of taking the lift. So progress made.
They are still debating about further surgery, which is quite a complex task when you are under three different specialists! Getting two doctors to agree is often a problem, but getting three is a bigger one, or so it seems. Guess they have to weigh up every possible outcome. At the moment, he isn't looking too bad...

No Maz, the ones in the top are fine, it's the ones in my bottom that are the problem. (A small accolade for anyone who recognises where that was robbed from!)
Couldn't resist this Maz after you put the idea in my head.....

Stanley!
Glad to hear that hubby is improving Maz.
I'm off down to the Heritage Room - we are planning a leaflet for our walk in the Pendle Walking Festival. We hope to have old photos to compare with present day Earby. Our problem is narrowing the choice, at the moment the walk from Earby to Thornton and back could take 3 days at least.

Stanley you still haven't finished telling us the story about your friend who visited an old house and met someone there (playing the piano ??) and it turned out that the piano player was a ghost.... is that right? Or was it that your friend heard a bit of music then was immediately able to play it, without having played it before ?? It was a few years ago that you started the story. You will have to tell it all over again for us on this new site (pretty please). Goodness what have you been doing all this time :peace: :extrawink: haha
I know I'm in my own little world, but it's OK... they know me here. :)
