I take it that regardless of alignment the hot and cold are the right way round?

They are the way they were before with hot on the right. As far as I am concerned there is no 'right' or 'wrong' orientation.... (My OCD doesn't go that far...)

Nothing to do with OCD. There is an accepted code of practice CP310 that hot is on the left and cold on the right. Might only be a minor matter but it helps to stop unsighted folk from getting scolded.

I know this seems unbelievable but it's what we have to put up with from our council. We got trapped once and have never used the car parks since!
`Taunton: Car park barriers that malfunctioned 100,000 times removed'
BBC
Barriers at six car parks in Taunton are being removed after they became too expensive for the council to maintain. People had to be
physically freed 100,000 times in 2022 when the barriers refused to lift, sometimes leaving drivers trapped for several hours.
And that was only in one year. It's been happening since they were installed in January 2019.

Peter. Very hard to understand why they weren't ditched immediately. I wonder if they have got any compensation from the manufacturers for the equipment not being of saleable quality, not fit for purpose. Has anybody asked questions?
PS Ian. Nobody can get scalded from my taps because being set up properly the hot water is set at a comfortable temperature....

I thought your self confesses OCD would extend beyond a one spline defect to having the taps the right way round. Actually I thought the plumber would have got it right in the first place!

I note that Kyle Longbottom's gym in the Majestic building is being advertised to let. The fitness business mustn't be as profitable as it looked.
I've been meaning to mention for a while that Keenan's, the estate agents who set up in the corner office across the street seem not to be able to afford a full time lady in the enquiry office. Her desk has been empty for a while and this morning I noticed that there are no properties advertised, only mortgage services.....

OCD people should avoid going to Italy . The taps are marked C and F.
C doesn't mean Cold - it means Hot (Caldo) - and F means Cold (Freddo)
Drives you mad I can't remember which side they were on though.

I heard that report also Peter. What struck me was that this deficiency in the aerated concrete has been known about for almost 30 years but sufficient investment hasn't been made in maintenance to alleviate the problem. Rather like asbestos, that was the same position.

Yes and they have been emailing schools since earlier this year. Asking Head Teachers about the materials that their schools were built from. As one of them said this morning "How the hell do I know, I didn't build it I am only a Head Teacher." Dismayed that he only has a couple of days to organise alternative accommodation and lesson delivery.
In the local forest, parts of Airedale Hospital are built with the material. On the cards to be replaced with new construction if it pans out as promised.

"if it pans out as promised."
That could be a big if Ian......
What grabbed me was the same as for the last few days. I feel cold and have gone into my heavy corduroy trousers. I wear a skull cap and a padded jacket in the front room to watch TV. The thermostat is a new one and is set to 19C but so far hasn't triggered the CH. The temptation is there to advance the thermostat a touch but I know from long experience that if I do that it will be too warm.....
As always at this time of year, the trick is to be patient..... (But it feels like a pain!)

I bought some alkaline batteries yesterday from Home Bargains. They used to come in packs of twenty for about £2,99.
They have now shrunk to a pack of ten for £2.39. What's even worse - in the interim the twenty shrank to eighteen and I never noticed.
They called it a "Bumper Pack" and said they were more powerful - a likely story.

It was such a good drying day that I took my duvet covers off the washing line and put them straight back on the bed. Slept like a log last night....

I have had a good time at the inauguration of the Riley Street clock at Bancroft and saw a lot of old friends, too many to name all but chief amongst whom were the surviving Pickles family and best of all, Terry and Ann Gissing. A lovely time and thanks to Tim the chairman for taking me there and bringing me home.....
Came across this picture . I thought ' I know who it is but since no reward was offered I let it slide'
