Diesel at Sainburys now £1.78 per litre. increases at about 1p a day. Have a safe journey home.
Same here. We have conserved our fuel, hence not going out much or very far, and have enough to get home . Thanks for the info if we say it cheaper we may buy

Just paid 1.97 euro, £1.64 at St Malo out of town shopping area. It got more and more expensive as we approached the ferry port, but I think still cheaper than the UK . It was more expensive near our house, rural area I suppose.

I shall be aiming for an hour in the shed but no more as Margaret is picking me up at 10:00 to take me to Earby where we pick Susan up and then go to Saltaire. Can't remember the last time the three of us were out together.....

Morning

It was a very good run. The ferry got in at 7.45 and because of where we were we were one of the first off and on the motorway out of Portsmouth in the rush hour by 8.15am. We cut across country as the traffic was heavy and stopped for a coffee 20 miles from Oxford at 9.35am. We were at Julias for 11.15am, left her goodies, used the toilet and back on the road. We bought sandwiches in Julia’s local shop and ate them at a service area later. We didn’t stop again. The roads were busy but not manic. I was amazed at how dry the garden was, as well as various pots in the conservatory and greenhouse, so I did some very rapid watering after unpacking the car.

Hope you had a good day out Stanley, it was certainly a nice day for it. Today I gather is much the same. I have art at Haslingden this morning and this afternoon a much needed haircut. Have a good day all

It was great thanks Sue and my alteration lady is back in Barlick so my coat is being attended to.
I have had my spell in the shed....

Only one pic but that's all it needs. I have spent an hour and a half, most of it hand work with files but part under the VM or the pillar drill, on the governor support bracket which also supports the con rod. It's an awkward little sod but I have got it to the stage where it looks OK and is ready for fitting to the casting when I get round to it.

An hour in the shed on my eccentric strap. Then Early Doors shopping followed by breakfast and a short second sleep. Then scrub up ready for Margaret to take me to Colne for 4th Covid booster. After that, we'll see!
So nice having Margaret here.....

Morning

Lovely day yesterday, following a good haircut, I spent some time moving plants around, transferring so that we can use the table in the conservatory for breakfast and lunch on a sunny day. I repotted a large chili plant and put some of the well established geraniums in the greenhouse,

Today I have dance exercise this morning, then at lunchtime it is the u3a wine groups lunch at the Shepherds Rest in Todmorden. We were hoping to recruit new members so some have invited a friend to the lunch. I think there will be 16 of us. This evening Wendy, Keith, Barbara and Bill are coming over for a chat to discuss our weeks holiday together in Filey from April 1st

Thats our day enjoy yours

Not sure yet.... I have a sore arm and feel vaguely unwell, no doubt a reaction to the 4th jab. Perhaps the best course will be to declare a shed holiday and take it easy..... That's looking very attractive at the moment.

Morning

I hope you feel better resting up today Stanley. Drink plenty. Its funny how some react to the vaccination and others don’t. The most Bob and I suffered was a slight arm ache and in the second one I had a red patch.

What a busy day socialising yesterday, the u3a meal was good and one of the potential new members that came, Bob and I knew from the french group we were in. She was saying they haven’t been to their house for over two years and are dreading the amount of work that will be needed. They have new neighbours who have taken out all their hedges, which were on their land( not the neighbours land) I was telling her what happened to us and that we had to get a local official in to remark the land. In tbe evening we sorted out the finer details of our up and coming trip to Filey

Bob has departed early this morning for Wolverhampton where he has a Model Engineers meeting starting at 9.30 am. I believe he is helping train people to test boliers. He will be gone till about 7.30 pm. I shall do the Bacup market run then call at B&M as I want some larger plant pots to replant some pepper plants that have continued growing in the conservatory over winter and out grown their existing pots. The rest of the day will be sewing and pottering in the greenhouse. Have a good day all.

At closing time I was here, ready to go forward on either the rod or the strap. A nice 2 hours and I think it did my arm good. In fact I feel better for having gone in the shed.

I shall be in the shed attending to my rod and eccentric strap. Altering my clocks, catching up on that hour of missed sleep in second sleep and a short walk and bookie watch later.
I am expecting a visit from my nephew Michael early afternoon..... That will be nice. He lives in the West Country so it's a long trip North for him.

Morning

A good day all round yesterday. I managed to clean the greenhouse and sort and wash pots for planting seeds, as well as doing a bit on my jacket. Bob had a good session at his meeting and was home by 6.30 pm. Today will be much of the same although I will be doing some zoom art with Briony. Bob is back at the park railway, their first session since December. It looks to be a good day for it. Enjoy seeing your visitor Stanley and have a good day all.

Morning

Another day of sewing yesterday and I made great progress with my jacket. I am almost ready for my sewing session with Maxine on Wednesday. It has taken me several sewing hours to bind all the seams in the fabric that I bought in France. Today I shall cut out the sleeves and make a pattern for the facings
FB0B8597-A5EB-40FC-9DD2-217D1BDFE63A.jpeg
Also yesterday I planted my veggie seeds in the greenhouse and covered them all with perspex sheeting to create extra warmth for germination and protection and I sprinkled the wild flower seeds , that I found in my brother Dave's flat, on the garden and raked them in. They will be nice and hardy so will survive the imminent weather change

This morning I have pilates but I am not sure if yoga has been changed to Tuesday morning yet. We shall see. Have a good day all,

That looks complicated Sue but a tidy job. I hope Myra does as good a job on my sleeves.... (I shall report on Thursday!)

Good progress this morning..... the strap is a nice fit on the eccentric.

Image

Then I made the eccentric link. I shall fit it and check the valve throw tomorrow. Nice morning with the usual gripe about not being able to see straight! :biggrin2:

First heard this from Bernard Manning - seems it's a Jewish joke . . .

Going through an old drawer, Yankel found a 40-year-old ticket for shoe repair. He remembered bringing in his third best dress shoes for new heels and realized he’d forgotten all about them.
“I wonder if old Goldberg is still repairing shoes? I haven’t been in that neighborhood in ages!” So Yankel drove over, and to his amazement, Goldberg’s Shoe Repair was still there, with old Mr. Goldberg working behind the counter.
Yankel figured his shoes were long gone, but it couldn’t hurt to ask, so he walked in, greeted Mr. Goldberg, and showed him the 40-year-old ticket. “Any chance you still have the shoes?” “Let me check.”

Old Goldberg toddled off into the back. A minute later, he called out, “Here they are!”
“Wow, this guy is amazing,” thought Yankel. Old Goldberg came back out, and handed the ticket back to Yankel.
