Sadly the reasonably intelligent are 'censored' to take into account the feelings of the stupid.
There will be someone, somewhere who will take offence to me for saying that :biggrin2:

Spooky time again - I saved that picture (or rather one very similar) to my collection only a few days ago.

What good posts and I think you are perfectly right. The stupid are always with us and the only defence reasonable people have is to ignore the buggers..... Pity M&S didn't do the same.

This is what got my attention. Colin came at 15:00 and by 16:00 was finished and I had a mill that worked perfectly. I went in for an hour before I went to bed and put everything back together again. He said it was dead simple but I noticed he had found a wiring diagram and consulted that at every step! A good and kind man who has solved a major problem for me.

Arranged a Royal Mail parcel collection online Wednesday, collected Thursday lunchtime and delivered at 08:30 this morning (Saturday). Cost for a 16in x 16in X 12in 10lb package was £6.49 which I considered very reasonable.

Thank goodness (and Colin) for that - it's a weight off my mind.
Actually I didn't even understand what the problem was - and the plethora of photos made me little wiser.

Confirms my conversation with Uncle Jim, on Friday night, that most people in this world are pretty good and we only hear in the media about the nasty ones.

Do we have site medal for kindness to award - one is well deserved. I think Kev would easiy qualify too. :laugh5:

Don't be so modest.

For starters - you took Ian to the Station last week, and I know you've been to East Hill Street on errands of mercy several times.

You're dead right David, we need to remember and mark acts of kindness.....
In another topic I mentioned my constant nagging fear, that my computer won't fire up in the morning....
Kev, please do me a favour. Send me your mobile phone number so that I could send a text asking for help if it happened.... Mine is 07929 486595. Pretty please? Stephen was my go-to solution for years but of course he has other natters to concern him now. (If you're reading this Stephen you are not forgotten, but remembered with gratitude every time I fire the FMIII up!)
Colin did me an immense favour in the shed. I can't tell you what it means to me. My justification for living is the fact I can do useful things in the shed like making engines and knurling knobs for David..... :biggrin2:
When the mill first sprang into life I gave him a bear hug and he told me to curb my emotions! I told Wendy I could see why she married him and she agrees he has come in useful from time to time.
Lovely post, thanks David!
One other thing grabbed my attention last night as I was going to bed at 20:00.... What at first I thought was distant thunder but then realised was the fireworks going off as Barlick celebrated Guy Fawke's night. It had escaped my notice as I no longer have a dog to worry about.....

Spooky again. I started to use the perpetual calendar with the hand built knurled knobs again, only a couple of days ago - having retrieved it from the back of the cluttered desk, whence it had gravitated.

I really need no reminding how fast the days and weeks are flying by at the moment.
I could tell Einstein a thing or two about relativity.

A great race Cathy.... I once forecast the winner as I left the country and got a lot of totally undeserved kudos as a tipster! Complete coincidence!

Owners, crews and passengers are going to have to get used to the fact that storms at sea are more dangerous nowadays...
`Saga cruise ship Spirit of Discovery in UK after Bay of Biscay storm' LINK
`The first 10 days of the 14-day planned cruise ran smoothly, with Las Palmas scheduled as the final stop. But the crew cancelled the visit and instead tried to head for A Coruña in north-west Spain after news of an imminent storm. On the way to A Coruña the port was closed so a decision was made to return to the UK early, hoping to keep ahead of the weather. However, while in the Bay of Biscay - a notoriously rough area for boats - the storm hit and the ship's safety system kicked in, causing it to veer suddenly to the left and effectively stop. It was during this manoeuvre that most of the injuries were sustained, a Saga spokesperson said. The ship remained stationary until conditions improved, and it returned to Portsmouth on Monday night...'.
