I've had my walk. The pharmacist didn't go well, closed for Bank Holiday. I shall go again tomorrow.... I had a sit opposite the bookies, pleasant in the sun but that wind is spoiling the day, it's cold if you're sat in it....

Morning
We had an interesting day. We went back to Burnley cemetery in the morning as I had forgotten to look up and photograph a couple of grave sites for someone I was chatting to online. We searched but could only find one site, which was simply a grassy patch with no headstone. The other we could not find at all or indeed with any of the graves in that number series despite us having a map. It was in a very old part of the cemetery not far from my parents grave. Anyway, once home I wrote to the the Friends of Burnley Cemetery explaining the problem. As luck would have it they not only could answer my query but had photos of the exact spot as they had done some research about a local hero of the same surname , who is probably related to the person we were looking for. It seems my contact lives in Coventry , I wonder if she knows Julia
After our research we headed for Townley park for a bit of lunch and a stroll in the woods there. It was well after two when we got home. Later I transplanted my courgette and beetroot seedlings in the greenhouse into bigger pots and made room for some more geraniums out of the conservatory. The latter is beginning to look quite empty now and the greenhouse full.
Today life gets back to normal. Its going to be busy. The pilates /yoga timetable has changed and my Monday yoga is now at 10.00 am this morning....a nice relaxing yoga. Bob , therefore will be doing the walk to the bank by himself. However I still have a double in the studio this evening, not so relaxing. Have a good day all

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
I went in the shed convinced I was going to make the pieces of stock for the trunnions and undercarriage. But then I realised that i will soon need the wood for the carriage so here's what took me an hour and a half. Finding suitable material, cutting it to size, making it the correct thickness, sanding it and giving both pieces a coat of varnish. I made two because I have had a request for another carronade.

I was late having my walk because I wanted to make sure I didn't miss the parcel delivery of my new keyboard. God knows why it took so long but here we are, I should be all right for a while now. I got a surprise when Well delivered my prescription while I was on the phone to them. I never asked for delivery but there you are, I'm not complaining. Now I shall consider knocking off and watching some snooker.....

Aldi run for me this morning then we set about the rest of the yard tidy. Moved the last few pots about to give access various stone slab supports on bricks removed to give access. Then a good sweep out and jet washed the rest of the flags before reassembling the layout. Painting jobs to do now, pent shed, back gate and the outside gas meter cabinet, we will probably give the outside yard walls a coat of stone paint as well.

Morning
I finished the sleeves of my jacket yesterday so I am all set now for my session with Maxine this afternoon. I now have all the final bits made, so after todays fitting and discussions I should be able to assemble them and finish it, when we come back from Portugal.
This morning I am at the dentist for the beginning of my crown . It is just two years since the problem started though I have to say the present filling has given me no issues at all. However the dentist, Andrew, thought it may not last and a crown would be better. I trust him so shall leave the decision to him. I shall leave with a temporary crown until the actual one is fitted at the end of May so I need to check with him that it is secure before we go on our cruise at the weekend.
So that's it, dentist, sewing, and pilates this evening. Have a good day. It promises to be nice.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Glad you are happy with your dentist. (I am still afraid of them....) Best of luck with him. I think you are right about the weather, it looks like the start of a nice day here, full sunshine.

At closing time I had most of the elements of the undercarriage done. I shall be chasing the rest of it tomorrow.

I had this crown in for 25 years, unfortunately the root of the tooth was in a sinus and became infected around 4 years ago so had to be removed. Lasted a lot longer than a filling. I had it mounted on a ring as it seemed a waste to throw it awaySue wrote: ↑20 Apr 2022, 06:31

Love that Kev....all went well this morning. The root filling I had 16 months ago is all that is holding this tooth together. The tooth, being dead, has no pain linked to it so a successful drilling session with no horrid anaesthetic

Sorry but just reading those posts made me cringe! Thank god for pot gobblers....
I shall once more be chasing my undercarriage. I'm very slow in the shed these days (If I speed up I make mistakes!) but I do enjoy my time in there and I'm sure it's good for me.
The forecast is for a sunny day so I shall brave the wind chill and observe the bookies!

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Morning
I have always had a dreadful fear of dentists and dental treatment but an even greater fear of having false teeth. I had a nasty experience with a very bad dentist who made money out of the NHS by filling perfectly good teeth and breaking them in the process. He was investigated by the area dental authority (?) but did a moonlight flit before he was caught. He and his dentist partner literally disappeared overnight. Since then I have had a number of unsympathetic dentists but two stand out in my mind as being superb, my present one being one of them.
As for false teeth I was quite young when my dad had all his teeth removed and false teeth fitted the same day. I will never forget the look of his face with a mouth full of teeth that he had never had before plus the intense pain he went through that day, but worse he nearly choked to death. I don’t know how it happened but one set flipped and stuck in the back of his throat. I was very frightened and vowed I would never have false teeth or indeed have any teeth removed. I am still frightened of dental treatment but have learned a lovely yoga relaxation breathing technique, although I still grip the chair or my hands furiously. There was no pain yesterday , the worse part of the whole experience was the sound of the drill which I hate. I think my attitude to dental treatment changed after a near death experience with a perforated appendix. Dental treatment doesn’t kill you......but yes it can be very uncomfortable, but only for a very short time
This morning I have the hairdressers, the rest of the day unplanned though I intend to pack my suitcase properly having been piling stuff in it during the week . It promises to be another nice day, have a good one.

You have had a much worse experience with dentists than I have Sue. Commiserations.....

I have had my spell in the shed and have moved the undercarriage forward again. Tomorrow I shall drill and tap the main members. Slow but sure.

Which river Sue?
Today will be an hour in the shed then early doors shopping at the Co-op. After that it depends on the weather, it's not going to be warm or sunny! (The heating has fired up already.....)

Morning
We are cruising up the Douro River from Porto to Salamanca and back, Stanley. Its a small boat with only about 120 on board, not one of these big cruise ships. We fly on Sunday to Lisbon and spend two nights there before transferring to Porto. Our packing is more or less finished and paperwork sorted. This morning we have to have a pre departure PCR test. We shall do a lateral flow before we go as we don’t want any surprises. We have to complete a passenger locater form too but that can’t be done till we have the seat numbers on the plane. Bob has just gone online to book them . Otherwise today will be our usual lunch with friends. They are joining us at our local pub rather than at the Shepherds Rest in Todmorden. Hopefully we will have a better choice than chips with carbohydrate!
I completely forgot to mention yesterday that my Tuesday Pilates group went out for a meal last night at a local bistro. It was a really good evening, nice food, lots of laughs. They are certainly a fun group. I think I have mentioned before that I was happy to go back in the studio with this group as they are so lively and verbally interactive that it was almost impossible to hear the instructions online
there is more to this pilates than stretch and twist.
It looks cool and windy this morning but the forecast is 16 degrees, cloud and sun. Have a good day. No doubt my hay fever will be bad again !
Bob back with his cuppa the booking line is not open yet.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Morning Sue, I think you are right about today, that NE wind is going to be a lazy one, it will go right through you if you haven't got a wonder coat with 'technically advanced' construction.
I've had my hour in the shed on the undercarriage and have done my early doors shopping. I think I'm the only one wearing a mask and gloves.... (The gloves are because of being in the shed, no point taking them off!)All the groceries put away and now I am ready for the day. Here's where I ended up on the under carriage.

Next job is to fix the trunnion bar to the body of the carronade. That's for tomorrow.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Commiserations to all who are affected. There are so many things that I avoid and am so grateful for. One of them surfaced yesterday. I had an offer from Susan and Mick of the use of the car and a chauffeur for the day next week. I settled for a visit to an old mate of mine who lives near Crawshawbooth. When I rang him to see if this was possible I got a shock because his circumstances have changed. He told me that during the year that has passed since we last spoke he has had sepsis in one of his legs and it had to be amputated so he is in an electric wheelchair. He sounds cheerful, says he has 'a good stump' and is looking forward to getting his artificial leg very soon.
As I say, I am so lucky! I shall learn more when I see him but can't help wondering if antibiotic resistant organisms are to blame....
This alters the shed work for the next week. When I completed the last engine I didn't spend time on the finishing touches. I shall do them and give my friend the engine as a present. I know he will be delighted and so at least one good thing will come of our visit.
As for the rest of the day, I shall deal with it as it comes. Looking at the forecast it is not going to be warm!

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...
Morning
Blood sepsis has always been a huge problem dating back to when I worked in path labs in the 70s, though like you suggest Stanley antibiotic resistance won’t help. Often the damage is done though before the infection is realised so I understand. I was really worried after my dog bite, which by the way I declared healed two days ago, over 4 weeks since the event.
This morning we are off to Bacup market for some herbs plants that the plant man promised me. We also want a couple of croissants for our very early breakfast tomorrow. I am having a pedicure at 10.00 am, and also have washing and ironing to do through the day. Eventually Bob managed to get our seats on the plane booked at 11.00 last night. Our paperwork is complete and our PCRs came back negative barely 9 hours after the test. It was a very efficient company and the test was only £45 each rather than the £85 we have paid before.
All is good. I am not sure when I will next get online, so have a good day and I shall when I can
