Well I think one of his problems is that he tends to bolt his food...the. Other is that he eats off a tray in front of TV, so basically he shovels it in without looking at it!
I've often said that one night I am going to try the dog food on toast.
Two things he cannot tell apart is Tuna and Chicken. The number of times he has said " the chicken was nice" and it was Tuna Mornay!
He is easily pleased though, so I shouldn't complain...
( interestingly enough he ate the leftover Risotto today and didn't enjoy it. I think it was because he now knew it was Risotto. If I had of kept my mouth shut he would have enjoyed it. And they say two year olds are fussy!)

A lovely brown loaf was just asking to have two thick slices cut from it, to then be lavished in butter, and used to enfold some lovely home made chips, The satisfaction of eating the said sandwich with butter running between my fingers was sublime.

Because I started early the meat and veg stew was ready for dinner, had a small bowl for tea as well. I love cooking like this, slow, totally enclosed and nothing is wasted apart from the bones!

A fresh fish van has started coming to Harle Syke on Fridays with lovely fish from Fleetwood. We went shopping this morning intending to get some fish on the way back - unfortunately the van was broken down in Preston, so we have decided to have fish & chips from the chippy. Nice lazy tea!!

Cheese and Beetroot Sandwich for Lunch.
Bought some Focaccia Rolls to have ( salad filled ) for dinner, but the weather is just too hot today and I couldn't manage more than a few bites. The mind was willing but the flesh was weak! Febby managed his and said he enjoyed it. Mine has gone under plastic wrap in the fridge in the hope I can face it later.

Last of the stew on a butty for dinner. Popped the rump steak in a pan with onions and garlic with a sliced spud on top. By teatime it was just right on a butty. It'll do both meals today as well.

Steak pie, mash and peas, no worries with the weather when this wraps round your ribs. Two cherry scones with home made cherry jam for afters.

Chicken & Tomato Balti curry last night with bombay potatoes. Lamb Shanks in mint gravy tonight with new potatoes & cauliflower.

Tonight we had a beef garland, the packet said marinated beef in red wine with a mushroom stuffing wrapped in puff pastry and formed into a ring, it came with a horseradish sauce so just needed a few chips on the side. As I was about to say that wasn't bad, the Mrs said she was disappointed in it having cleaned her plate. That means it was the first and last time i would enjoy it. Are well!

Lots to be said for a lamb shank! The rump steak and onions did two more big butties for dinner and tea and there is some onion gravy left for today. I think I'll just drop a lump of two shear on it and put it on the stove....
Almost four hours later the meat is enjoying its gentle cooking and by the time I am ready for my first meal of the day at 11:00 there will be some nice slices of hot meat for a butty. I am so lucky in that I have a proper butcher, you can't get meat as good as this any other way....

I have rump steak & onions slow cooking in the oven, will serve with roast potatoes, creamed parsnip & cauli.

After I had deboned the leg of two shear I filled the pan with carrots, parsnip, spuds and peas and left it simmering till teatime (take note Maz,,,,). Lovely grub and plenty left over! Good cold weather fuel.

Have made Shepherds Pie with Baby Peas, Carrots, Cauliflower and Green Beans.
Could be back to Salads tomorrow as the weather is heating up again. ( groan)

One boiled egg and two slices of toast, an hour later we had Christmas pudding and custard. Two more puddings to be eaten after this, then all the seasonal goodies are gone.

So...guess you are making a mental note...not to over-stock on the Christmas goodies next Christmas?
We still have a Turkey Breast Roll in the freezer, but I bought that post Christmas sale. Bargain! And it has a long "use by" date. Just as well. I don't fancy it anytime soon.

Son (and hairy dog) coming for dinner.
I have been asked to cook his favourite meal, which he says he is having withdrawal symptoms from, having moved out of our place nearly four weeks ago.
Chicken Schnitzel, Roast Potatoes, Carrots. Cauli, Green Beans, Baby Peas, Fresh Mushrooms and Gravy...in vast quantities. What he cant eat goes home with him in plastic containers.
