THIS bloke seems to have either been unlucky or someone was after him!
A man suffered wounds to his face and arm after being targeted in two separate stabbings in Lancaster. Police are appealing for information after they were called to St Leonard's Gate at 18:20 BST on Tuesday where the man who had been stabbed in the arm. The same man, aged in his 20s, had also received a slash wound to his cheek outside Greens pub, North Road, on the morning of Saturday 29 June, Lancashire Police said. A 42-year-old man from the city has been arrested on suspicion of assault, Lancashire Police said.

The house opposite ours has been empty for just over a year after our neighbour died. It was always looked after very well and the family sorted everything quickly so that it was soon ready for sale. Finally, yesterday a new couple moved in. They've had a difficult time going through the conveyancing with every step taking ages due to slow planners, slow solicitors etc. Last week I'd spoken to them and they were still caught waiting, this time due to delays to completion because the banks were being slow over doing their `anti-laundering checks' on the money changing hands.

One of our relatives is selling her house during a divorce and she's having trouble too. Members of our families having been helping her by giving and/or lending money so she can afford a place for herself. Again, it's the banks now causing problems with `anti-laundering checks' and demanding to see, via the conveyancing solicitor, all the accounts information from those involved. They seem unable to cope with the idea of relatives helping each other. The relative, against our advice, chose to use an online solicitor via smartphone and we're not willing to provide all our banking data that way. So at the moment other approaches are being taken. We'll probably then get into trouble for `not being transparent about our finances'!

I recognise the problems you relate Peter from the interminable way the solicitors and HMRC spun out the business of issuing probate my brother's will. I suspect some of it was deliberate to extract higher fees, the rest was simple idleness and clock watching..... Every time someone had a holiday that was another fortnight's delay.

Later, at 04:00. The heating has come on.......

The fact that the weather forecast has improved for the next six days. We may be about to get a touch of summer.
Later at 05:00. In view of the fact we are going to get summer this week I have shaved my head! This could well trigger outbursts of snow and hail!

See THIS forecast for this week's weather.
Parts of the UK could be hit by a burst of 30C heat by the end of this week, following an unusually wet start to July. The warm blast is expected to arrive in the South East of England on Friday. Temperatures could set a new record for the hottest day of the year, after 30.5C was recorded in Wisley, Surrey on June 26. Areas that have experienced a July washout so far are now set to turn a lot drier and warmer, albeit briefly. But we should not be putting our umbrellas away just yet - the dry weather will be even more short-lived in the north-western areas and it could be unsettled again for the whole of the UK as soon as Saturday evening.
I suppose this ought to be posted under climate change really. Our weather is getting more variable and I wonder if we'll ever see a long hot summer again.
We must accept what we are given and get the paddling pools out for the kids, if it is only for a few days!

Trump is certainly winning the battle of the hustings..... The Democrats look paralysed.
What grabbed my attention was that a friend of mine whose sister is in Chemo after surgery for breast cancer decided to have a test herself. Good job she did, she has stage III cancer but not as bad as her sister, no talk yet of surgery. I realised a long time ago that far more people than we imagine have cancer..... The Crowdstrike update shenanigans only impacted Microsoft operating systems, fortunately the OGFB site sits on a Linux platform. :good:

Crowdstrike have put a fix out which should sort things out, a bit late for those who have hacked it and disabled the application.

I noted the Crowdstrike fiasco but also the fact that Mick and Susan had almost reached Gisburn yesterday on their way to Barlick when they were stopped and turned back because the A65 was closed. They had to go round through Settle and Malham but are safe at Kelbrook now and I shall see them later today.

Is there any truth in the story repeated frequently in the news media that affected businesses had to reboot into safe mode 15 times to get their computers back to normal? :scratchhead:

When Crowdstrike made the 'fixed' file available a reboot was required for the machines to start using it, the potential was there for rebooting up to 15 times.
The fix, prior to the release of the new file, was to reboot in safe mode, delete the Crowdstrike file and then reboot as normal which disabled the application. The downside of this is it was a manual process on each affected server. The reboots, for the replacement, can be automated from one location.
